I had a flagstone patio constructed by Delphi. During the construction, these guys destroyed the landscape and got cement all over my house. They solved this problem by simply painting over it – it looks awful. I wasn’t happy about it, but the patio did look good. Now, just two months later, the cement between the flagstones is coming out and that looks awful.
I would not hire these guys again. You get what you pay for — low prices — low quality.
I found out later that Delphi had so many complaints that Chris Doctor started a new construction company using a different name. If you check his license, search his name to get a list of all his companies.

The guy was super eager for the work, and seemed like a good fit when I met with him. I told him I would get back to him soon, and one day later I offered him the job if he could send me a written bid and a personal guarantee. He responded right away in a short message saying he was too busy. Makes me think he is not at all legit. Very frustrating.

When you look for help, you ask for it. And who you ask is the most important thing. Chris and the Delphi crew were the right ones to ask. The answer was a backyard of modest space transformed into a flagstoned tapestry of pure visual joy. Chris and crew were seemingly tireless in their ambition to make our backyard find its beauty. I can’t sing their praises enough. To let genius happen, let genius in, and know it isn’t you. That genius is Chris and all the Delphi artists.

I moved into an older house about 1 year ago. It came with a storage room with a roof deck on top of it. I noticed some cracks in the roof deck. Even though it was not leaking I thought it would be best to get it repaired. I got 3 estimates. I called Delpi Construction and Chris was quick to respond. He was willing to go by my house and take a look the same day. He called me from the property and gave me a verbal estimate. I had to follow up via email several times to get something more concrete. When I asked him a few questions on the email he responded by saying he will not do the work. I would recommend never to contact this company. Very unprofessional and he will quickly run away if he feel confronted. Thankfully he didn’t start any work before he disappeared.

Chris with Delphi Construction resurfaced our decks, stabilized our handrails and built a side fence for our yard. He was professional, timely, reasonably priced and very thorough. We would definitely hire him again.

I was surprised to see bad reviews about this company. I received a quote from a competitor that came in at over 13k to refurbish a deck and put a top on it. I thought the price was inflated so got online and started making calls. I talked with Chris at Delphi Construction on Friday around 4pm. He offered to come out immediately to look at what I wanted and give me a price. I told him that it wasn’t necessary to come out on a Friday evening with all of the traffic. He arrived about 90 minutes later, took a look at the work to be done including taking care of some areas in the garage that needed work due to the leaks from the deck. his price quote was less than ½ and he said that he would have it done in 10 days. He was proud of the work that he had done previously and went out of his way to show his work as well as offer references. He also explained the redecking process in a way that I and my wife understood.
He arrived on Monday and started the tear down of the deck and except for 1 day did all of the work himself. I had it in my mind on what I wanted and he went over and above my expectations. The Roof exactly matched the my existing tile roof. He screened it in so that my cats could use it to sun themselves. I also had him box the eaves over the deck to keep out the swallows. He pressure washed the walls, re stuccoed and painted as needed and when he was finished, he cleaned up thoroughly and made the side of the house cleaner than when he left. We’ve now gone through our first major storm. There were no leaks and all of the work that he did held up beautifully. I would recommend Chris and his work to anyone that needs deck work, whether it be a rebuild or a start from scratch. I checked him out through the BBB and the Contractors licensing board and there have been no complaints ever filed since he has had his contractors license. Wish the original builder of my house had been as thorough as he was. BTW, he offers a full 5 year warranty on the deck recoating.

I deal with a lot of businessmen and I love it when they show passion for their business and the quality of their work. There is no doubt about Chris in this respect. His attention to detail could not be more complete and he went out of his way to make sure i was completely satisfied… which I am.

My experience with Chris and Delphi Construction has been great. He built a deck and it has endured the test of time. It had to be sixteen years ago and it stands tall. His years of working in the construction field, earning his contractor’s license and knowledge of tools shows in his craftsmanship. He has done other jobs for my business as well and I am pleased with his work. Yes he is very energetic and that is what you want when you want a job done and done well.

I called Delphi last spring to get an estimate for replacing our worn deck with a new patio and patio cover. Chris (the owner) was there the same day and provided a competitive quote, and offered what turned out to be extremely valuable suggestions. The work was done in a timely fashion, and the crew was always polite and attentive, even as we changed our minds about what we wanted done. What impressed me most though, was that clearly contracting isn’t «just a job» for Chris, he clearly enjoyed what he was doing, and was a pleasure to work with.

I have a vacation rental in Mission Hills and used Delphi Construction to upgrade my deck in the backyard because we were going to be featured on a national TV show on the Live Well network called Sweet Retreats. Because we were on a tight time line I asked Chris Doctor, (The owner), if he could make it happen and he said yes. The challenge began when the weather did not cooperate and Chis & his crew had to work between rain and wind and cover up during the showers. Delphi Construction not only met our time lines but did amazing work. These guys rock! Chris also came back for some minor touch up to insure our deck would last ten or more years. The quality of work along with the work ethic is second to none. I would recommend these guys to anyone because Chris cares about his customers and is rightfully proud of his work. Thank you again Chris!

The owner’s name is Chris. He comes off really down to earth and honest in his video on his site. Don’t let that fool you. He came over to give me an estimate. He was very nice and said he would email me a quote within a couple of days. A week later I called him to ask him when I would get a quote. He said that he opted not to bid on my project and then hung up on me. WTF? (my project is 30−40k) Very strange. I have never written a complaint like this on Unilocal or any other site, but I was a bit thrown off by this erratic behavior. Prior to writing this review I red the other reviews and now I get it… he obviously has some sort of split personality or similar disorder, or just doesn’t know how to treat customers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY.

I called the (760) 434‑5220 # listed to do some business with this company and the guy who answered said «Don’t call me» and hung up. So not sure how to hire this company but I guess they don’t want calls?

I hate to even give this guy one star. He did a porch repair for me. He did not arrive on time and sometimes not at all. Only if I called him. His behavior was erratic. He did not finish the job correctly. He boasted that he painted my hand rails for me, but he had too because he covered them in fiberglass. I will need to sand them and repaint. He did not use a drop cloth and paint was all over my terra-​cotta tiles. He then pressured washed them and they are all gauged. I had to reseal and even that did not fix them. I wish I could attach photos. The fiberglass is sticking up in the corners around the rails. He did not clean up the edges. The material he used is dripping over the sides and although this was done just ¹¹⁄₂ months ago it is already chipping away. I did not ask him to replace my steps, but he did. The wood he used is split and I am having to replace all of them again. I think he did this because he did not want to bother to strip the carpeting. I could go on and on about this guy. I have waited to review him, because frankly his behavior is scary. Stay away from this guy. I don’t know how to say it any stronger. What a disaster and it’s $ 4000.00 later. I don’t know who’s more stupid, him or me for paying him.

Unfortunately, not a good experience.
We arranged for a gentleman to come to my house and give an estimate for a 11×32ft deck in my backyard. 1:00 rolls around and there is no one who has arrived at the agreed upon time. 1:20, I decide to call them to see what’s up and the gentleman tells me he’s having a hard time and he’ll be there in 25 minutes. Though I thought it was strange that I had to call him rather than the proper customer service etiquette of the other way around — I understand how things go and said ‘no prob’.
25, 35, 45 minutes pass, still no show. So I call again and he is finally arriving and parking — over an hour late.
Shows up to my house and after I greeted him with a handshake and introduction I said something along the lines of ‘you are quite late, my friend’. Long and the short of it was that he then turned around and jogged away without so much of a word about it.
Really, an extremely strange interaction. I didn’t even know what happened and so I texted him «I don’t know what happened there, did you just run away?’» And he replied that he drove 85MPH to get here, on a Sunday, when he had three other jobs going on and there was no complaining when free estimates were involved. Which is weird because 1. He agreed to come on a Sunday, and 2. I never event got an estimate. Our interaction was not hostile nor rude and I was totally thrown off guard.
Like I said, a very strange interaction. I guess all I can say is that I am sure this is representative of their normal business ethics and practices, so anyone would be best served if you have a want for high quality customer service and execution of an agreement to just stay away from this one.
