Leucadia Surf School

The kids and i had a great time. We all stood up and got to surf Good instructors, good equipment, good time Could a bit more efficient in the beginning but id send my kids again. Deffinitely.

Leucadia was great! I had a private surf lesson with Gerry (it was my first time surfing ever) and he was super helpful and patient. He fitted me with an awesome wetsuit and a great board, and I was able to stand up on the first wave I tried! In addition to being super knowledgeable about surfing, Gerry is also just a cool guy with a lot of interesting stories. Rad experience!

I reserched many surf camps for my daughter this summer. I went with these guys because they have been around forever and the prices were great. My daughter is quiet but she raved about the camp and the super helpful instructors. she went from having never surfed to feeling IT. She cant wait to surf now. She and I can do together and thats priceless. Then I emailed after asking for advise on boards and wetsuits and they got right back to me and contacted who they knew to help me get the best prices. These guys are awesome. True lovers of surf and what they do.

Leucadia is great. My girlfriend and I had a bad experience trying to set up lessons with another «surf school», and scrambled to find something else last minute. We called Leucadia the afternoon before and Jerry helped us get something set up for the next day at a great price. We did a group lesson (2 other people had signed up), and we had 2 instructors for 4 people. Jerry never tried to sell us on extra lessons, but said if we wanted to learn anything more advanced he would be more than happy to help, or even just rent us boards for the day if we wanted to come back. Leucadia didn’t just get us «standing» on waves, but also taught us some basics for catching waves on our own, and how to read what is a good wave and what is not. I wish we would have had more time on our trip to go out surfing again.
Riding in the last wave of the day with my girlfriend was one of the best experiences and the guys at Leucadia were just as excited as us to be out there in the water. Overall great experience, and the guys were funny.

Gerry, who owns this company, is the real deal! He helped us create memories we won’t soon forget. I couldn’t have asked for more. He started surfing well before it was cool and I love that knowledge and old school chilled out attitude. If you want to stand up in the first half hour, spend a couple hours with someone you felt you have known for years prior and walk away safe and well informed about surfing, this is the only surf school you need to call.

I decided to take my mom and sister out for a fun activity to celebrate my mom’s birthday. This did not disappoint! Gerry was a great teacher, very focused on safety, but also looking to make sure that we had a good time. The price was great, and I would recommend this to anyone. I would also love to get another lesson from Gerry.

My wife and I just had a «group» lesson — it was just the two of us, and the owner/​lead instructor Gerry gave us a great time. He said his motto is «good equipment, good instructors, good surf», and he definitely delivered. Besides being a lifelong surfer and a good businessman, he was also a great teacher. Also worth noting — we called on short notice during the off-​season, and LSS was the only place that called us back. Thanks a lot!

Absolutely the best surf camp on moonlight beach, my son did four days and had a ball, lots of instructors, lots of help it’s all about surf, they get them up on the board so fast. There were other schools on the beach and leucadia surf school stood out so much as by far the best camp. Would recommend it to all my friends.

When my son was about 5 years old, Gerry took him out and he caught dozens of waves, he’s now 13 and rips! Gerry gave him his first real experience and it paid off.
Gerry has a hugh heart and is as honest as they come. If you want a rah rah experience that glosses over the most important parts of the sport (like etiquette and reading the water) go somewhere else. If you really want to learn the sport from someone who knows, and more importantly knows how to teach, go to Gerry.

I really had an excellent time during my 2-​hour group session on a weekday morning. I had a great time and was able to catch a ride on the first try. There were plenty of instructors and I was never waiting during the 2 hours. The school provided all the necessary equipment and were very good at providing the right size board and wet suit. I would recommend this school to anyone surfing for the first time.
