If you’re thinking of going up on a Saturday during the open times listed on their website… call ahead first. We drove up there today from Mira Mesa just to have the guy at the nursery next door tell us no one was at the monarch program today. Had one really disappointed little girl, who really was excited to see butterflies, on my hands.

This is a really cool hidden gem, tucked into the Encinitas hills near Orpheus Park. While small, the enclosed butterfly garden still offers a glimpse of some very cool butterfly varieties in various stages of their life cycles.
