Be Careful! Only 1 of the doctors is a specialist dentist and the other one isn’t. You have to say that you want the specialist to do your surgery. If I paid the price of seeing a specialist I want that specialist to do the surgery my cat needed.

My older Red MinPin, 9 years old, had the worst breath! Took him to the vet to get a check up and was told he needed to get a teeth cleaning. The regular vet offered to do it, but I needed time to think about it. I was worried my dog wouldn’t tolerate the anesthesia and wanted to explore my options. After reading online the pros and cons of anesthesia free cleaning, I decided that it was best to go to a dental specialist. Thanks to all you Unilocalers, I decided on this place. He ended up needing 5 teeth pulled, which would have meant if I let my regular vet do it, it would have ended in my dog needing to see a Vet dentist anyway and exposure to 2 anesthesia procedures. He recovered just fine and no complications. He’s soooo much happier. I had no idea he was in so much discomfort. The staff and Dr were very kind and gentle. Spend the money and prolong the life and quality of health for your pet. I highly recommend this place.

I have a chinchilla with a tooth problem and found Dr. Brigden with a Google search. Reading that he had worked on small animals at the Phoenix zoo, I was excited, thinking he could surely solve the mystery my regular vet hasn’t been able to. Unfortunately, I called the office and was told Dr. Brigden doesn’t handle exotics. A vet that «joined the team at Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists, working on small animals and exotic animals at the Phoenix Zoo» doesn’t do exotics? Can’t remember seeing too many dogs and cats at the zoo last time I went, but I guess to each his own. They didn’t even have a referral to offer, though. :(Very disappointed.

Glen is a true professional. It should be noted that this office is often referred by several veterinarians around town as well. I learned a lot from the presentation that Glen gave me last week, and I will be turning to y’all for all of my needs future needs.

Dr Brigden is AWESOME! He is exactly what Encinitas needed, is caring and gentle, and he gave us options. My 15 year old lab is my baby and he was GREAT with her. We will be back for more work and I will continue to refer him.

After finding out our dog had fractured her canines while boarding we were set in a panic! We had two separate appointments with with two different general vet clinics, banfield and kearny mesa veterinary clinic, and they both recommended the only two board certified vet dentists in san diego.
We first made an appointment at dr. nimiec’s office. What troubled me was how unconcerned they seemed, they never even asked the condition or urgency in the matter. Basically, everything was just business and the only opening was a week away for a $ 110 consultation fee.
NOW, when we called Pacific Coast Veterinary Dentistry, they were actually closed since it was the weekend so I left a voicemail for Dr. Brigden. I was actually very surprised when he actually called me back the same day and was able to get me in within the next couple days. AND he seemed very concerned, this seriously made me very confident in choosing their facility for my puppy.
I also called just to double check some information with Barbara, the receptionist, and she was also very helpful and nice. Everyone I basically came in contact with seemed very genuine and we really appreciated it.
Now, I wasn’t the one who actually dropped my pup off and met with everyone in person (my boyfriend did). He did say everyone there was very nice and the facility was beautiful. Doctors were very thorough with explaining the procedure and the cost was much more affordable than you would think. They even went to the extent of giving a tour of the surgical area and where my dog would be kept. The full disclosure of everything was very comforting. My dog ended up having 2 root canals, 1 tooth extraction, and fixing two back molars (do not ever board with petsmart hotel). I cant thank you guys enough!
Now, my dog is literally undergoing the procedure as we speak, so I’m writing this review in full confidence of this facility. If your dog/​cat is in need of dental work i would strongly recommend this place! I know kali will continue to be a loyal customer :)

There is only a few times in life you get to meet somebody that truly cares about people their job and animals as much as DVM glenn brigden. The office is amazing his staff is great I was instantly put at ease by the knowledge and caring way of everyone there. If you are a pet lover and you choose your pet’s veterinarian based on the quality of the medical care offered, then I highly recommend the Pacific Coast Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Inc. Our 11 week puppy Ozzy had suffered an accident and was hospitalized for several days at our local urgent care hospital. After spending thousands of dollars for urgent care the Dr. advise us that our puppy would need oral surgery. We called several dental vets in San Diego and they all quoted us about $ 3,500 to do the surgery. We had already spent $ 6,500 for urgent care bills and unfortunately could not afford another $ 3,500. When I called Pacific Coast Veterinary I first spoke with the nicest receptionist named Barbara. We explained to her the situation and what had happened, she then spoke with Dr. Brigden and out of his love for animals he agreed to do the surgery for much less. Thanks to Dr. Brigden and his team our little Ozzy is now a healthy and happy puppy. My wife and I
are so thankful for Dr. Brigden and his team.

There is a reason there are so many great reviews on Dr. Brigden and PCV. Like many other reviewers, I was beyond nervous to have my little girl put under anestrhesia. She is 12 and has a heart condition.
* If I could give Dr. Brigden and his office 10 stars I would.
*His prices are fair, he is exceptionally skilled at what he does, he genuinely cares, and his over all staff and office do too.
I was debating having my regular vet do the dental surgery because she is fantastic and I trust her to do the best job possible. She encouraged me to meet with Dr. Brigden for a consult as she thought that this was the best and safest method of care for my girl. After calling and speaking with Barbara (who was lovely and made me comfortable right away) and doing my internet research which showed all great reviews, I decided to book a consult. After meeting with Dr. Brigden and his team, we were impressed right away and felt confident that this is where our girl had to have her surgery done. Dr. Brigden informed us that he would call right away to let us know what we were dealing with once she was under. He called exactly as promised and we decided that as long as she was doing ok under anesthesia he would remove 15 yes 15 teeth. Tomorrow will be one week since surgery. She is doing exceptionally well thanks to Dr. Brigden’s dedication and skill. The after care that we have received has been outstanding. We will see him in a week for our follow up and I plan to update my review then. In the mean time I wanted to be sure to post this so that anyone who may be unsure of where to go with their baby knows how incredible PCV and Dr. Brigden are. We are so grateful for the wonderful care that we received.

I would give 10 stars if I could! It can sometimes be challenging to find professionals you trust to treat your pets, but we loved Dr. Brigden! You can tell that he truly cares about animals and does his very best to provide them with the highest care possible.
Dr. Brigden was amazing with our boy, a Siberian Husky named Bruce. Brucey is a rambunctious little guy who somehow broke off half of one of his upper canines. Dr. Brigden met with us and was very thorough in explaining the anatomy aspect of things, as well as our options and what the procedure would entail. Dr. Bridgen performed a root canal and I thought it was very thoughtful that Dr. Bridgen himself called us when there were issues that needed to be addressed. As it turns out, Bruce needed another root canal! We would have never known. Now Bruce has pearly whites and will no longer be in pain! Also, Dr. Brigden stayed with us after closing to make sure Brucey was properly coming out of his sedation before we took him home. Cannot reiterate enough how happy we are with the service we received… Even though Bruce is a little mad at us for taking him to the doctor ;)

When my pup broke one of her premolars I thought the only option would be to have the vet remove the tooth, but I was so excited when my vet recommended this clinic! Everyone was so nice and professional and a triple root canal and a crown later my pup is back to having a perfect smile. Oh! And I was so surprised that her insurance (VPI/​Nationwide) covered almost all of it, more than they would’ve if I had the tooth extracted!

I had no idea that there were specialists for veterinary dental care, and why should I? Her cleanings and oral care were handled by her regular veterinarian, everything was great so no big deal!
Well, after our move, unbeknownst to us, our dog fractured her largest molar (the carnassial) after chewing on a bone. She was eating, but not a lot, and we chalked it up to the move and new house. We brought her in to the vet because she had a sore she was licking on her paw, the noticed her teeth were pretty badly plaqued (bad dog parents that we are we missed the last cleaning before our move 7months prior). We scheduled a teeth cleaning, and that is when they found it. That vet office did not perform root canals so they recommended us to Pacific Coast Veterinary.
Let me tell you, from Barb at the front desk to Dr. Brigden and his resident Dr. Tjepkema and vet techs were amazing. Barb found a way to fit us in on a very busy day just before Christmas to have Willa evaluated. Dr. Tjepkema saw Willa and was very calm and kind with her, knowing that she had recently gone through a procedure (teeth cleaning) at Pacific Veterinary Hospital. It was clear to Dr. T that Willa would need a root canal, and Barb found time to get us in on the Tuesday before Christmas.
Dr. Brigden came in and explained what would be done and gave us the options. He was very honest about everything — Willa *needed* the root canal but the crown was not necessarily necessary and we could wait to have that done. He provided an itemized quote for a root canal only (~$ 1000) and for a root canal+crown procedure (~$ 2000). They let me know that if blood work had been performed in the last month they could use that information and it would make things slightly cheaper. It was very clear that what Dr. Brigden cares about is the health of the dog and that they are not in pain.
On the day of the procedure, they walked me back to the procedure room and showed me around. There are two large kennels for large dogs and then a row of crates for smaller dogs and cats. There were three procedure tables in the center of the room and Dr. Brigden explained what would be going on and the time frame they expected to come under. I signed the waiver that said them do what they needed and more if it became clear that more work was necessary, but Dr. Brigden assured me that they would attempt to get a hold of me to inform me even though I had already said it was OK to go ahead.
The procedure they ended up doing was a bit above what was quoted as the full mouth X-​Ray (which is something they DO NOT do at a non-​dentistry vet) showed that Willa had above the gum tooth resorption in several of her smaller premolars. In the end, she had 1 root canal and 5 tooth amputations.
Dr. Brigden and Dr. T informed me that Willa could no longer chew on bullies, bones, Nyla bones, antlers, hooves, or anything that I couldn’t bend by hand. Apparently these are all the common culprits of tooth fractures in dogs. I was lucky we caught it early because typically what happens is tooth fractures, an abscess forms, and it breaks through the skin and fur of the face before the owner notices. Willa was discharged with liquid pain medications, care sheet, and they provided recommendations for supplements, dental care, and water additives that would help her in the long run.
All of Willa’s dental care will be done here from now on. I really can’t say more about the staff and experience we had here. I’m so grateful that they were here to help my pup feel better.

I brought my dog here for a general cleaning and they found an infected tooth and gingiva. They were able to salvage the neighboring tooth with an advanced procedure; I really appreciated this option rather than extracting everything. My dog has already lost so many teeth in his life and he needs to keep as many as he can! They were extremely clear in their explanation of the procedure and was very reasonably priced.
In addition, my dog is a 10 year old senior and the anesthesia was incredibly smooth. He went home without any pain. I’m planning to bring my little 7 year old chihuahua next. Dr. Brigden, Dr. T and the staff are the best!

If there were 10 stars, this place would get them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Dr. Brigden and his staff are professional, compassionate and sincere. They made an awful experience so much easier– emotionally and financially. My 3 lb chihuahua had severe dental disease and had to have all of her teeth removed (those that were left after other extractions). I was a wreck, but he assured me she would be so much more comfortable afterwards and he was right. She’s much more playful and affectionate now. I wish I knew of Dr. Brigden a few years earlier.

Please take your family pet to Dr. Glenn Brigden and his team if your pet is in need of oral surgery or any dental care. After not feeling confident my general vet was capable of estimating or performing dental surgery, I took my 11 yr. old cat there who had major tooth resorption. Dr. Bridgen & Dr. T spent time with me explaining the prognosis with computer aided slides/​x-​rays, the procedure and the after surgery care. He gave me his cell # in case I needed him during the weekend. He even called on a Sunday to make sure my cat was ok. My cat is acting so happy. I highly recommend him. My cat and I both thank you!

I highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommend Dr. Glenn Brigden for any oral surgery needs. Before he opened his own practice, Pacific Coast Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery, he was in Arizona with Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists, and thank God he was because my standard dachshund, Baron, a rescue, developed a squamous cell carcinoma on his gum beside one of his canines. Dr. Bridgen spent so much time with us and Baron, explaining and going over the procedure, aftercare and prognosis. When I picked Baron up after surgery, I did not ask him to, but he gave me his cell # in case I needed him during the night. He did not have to do that, but he did! Baron is almost 3 yrs out from surgery to remove the cancerous mass and so far no cancer! I will always be thankful for what Dr. Brigden did to save my Baron’s life. He is a happy, well adjusted dog even without both lower canines and a portion of his lower mandible. We will never forget Dr. Brigden!

I cannot say enough positive things about this company and its people. Dr. Bridgen and Dr. Tjepkema was fantastic and compassionate. This was the first time that I had taken my dog to the dentist and was very nervous. She ended up requiring a root canal and removal of one of her teeth. They both spent time with me to make sure I understood the procedures, we even toured their facility and surgical room. I will definitely plan on returning next year and will recommend them to my friends with animals. They called me a day later to make sure that Sally was doing fine. I am glad that I took my dog to this clinic. It has been several days and my dog is back to herself again.

What a wonderful gift to San Diego to have Dr. Brigden and Dr. Tjepkema here to give us an option in veterinary dental care! This will be a long review because I know how those of us with pets love them like family and want as much information as possible before going to a new vet. Long story short, they were miracle workers with my stomatitis cat!
My cat was diagnosed with stomatitis almost two years ago and I made the mistake of trusting my general practice vet to do a full extraction, mainly since I didn’t want to go to Dr. Neimic (nor could I afford his outrageous prices). My GP vet was convinced that she had gotten all the roots and she couldn’t determine why she continued to suffer. We spent the next year trying various eastern and western medicine remedies with the Animal Healing Center (also an amazing place), but she continued to suffer. As soon as PCVD opened the AHC suggested I make an appointment to get it checked out.
The attention they paid to both my cat and me was incredible from the minute we walked in the door. Being a small practice with two fully licensed vets, and only handling one pet at a time really allows them to personalize and focus on your pet. I was given a wide estimate since there was no telling what would be found once we got in there and the outcome was bad in terms of the mess left behind by my GP vet. Dr. Brigden honored the top limit of his estimate even though the surgery took much longer than expected. He and Dr. T updated me regularly throughout the procedure and we went home that afternoon. I’ve never had a vet give me such great information after a treatment. I had a file with pictures of the x-​rays and every single bit of information about what happened that day. They said that would be useful if any emergency were to happen as I could present that to an emergency vet. I had a phone number and email to call if anything happened and they checked in later the first night and again the following day.
My cat is now back to acting like she did when she was six months old! She runs around and fetches her toys. She carries things in her mouth and eats like she’s trying to make up for two years of eating in pain. I will never be able to thank them enough for their care and especially for their incredibly reasonable and honest pricing. They even helped me process my insurance claim.
I drove all the way up from San Diego with a crying cat and went all the way back for a recheck (free) and don’t have a single regret! They are AMAZING!

I highly recommend Dr Glenn Brigden to any one who has a pet in need of a veterinary dentist and/​or an oral surgeon! My cat recently had four unhealthy teeth removed by Dr Brigden. He and his office helped make everything so smooth and simple from start to finish. My cat, who is 8 years old, recovered quickly from her procedures and was begging for food within an hour of her coming home. Never once did she show any signs of pain or discomfort. Dr Brigden is kind, compassionate, personable, has years of experience and his facility is state of the art. An additional invaluable bonus is that anesthesia is monitored by a second veterinarian, Dr Jennifer Tjepkema, so I knew my kitty was getting top notch care.
