PURE the Blowout Bar

Great service — they have coffee and beverages when you walk in, super easy scheduling online, and called to let me know there was an event in Encinitas that may make parking rough.
Blow out was stellar — Tiffany asked a lot of questions, scalp massage was excellent and I was so happy with the results. Will definitely be back!

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to treat themselves and feel beautiful. This is my go-​to blowout bar for getting dolled up. My blowouts last for several days, so I can have fun rocking bombshell curls for a good part of my week. I’m a dancer, and my hairstyles last through all my dancing around and hair flying all over the place.
The service has always been really friendly and great. I love the atmosphere of this salon — spacious, bright, and airy! There’s a TV in the center of the room for watching shows and movies while you’re getting your hair done.
I’ve also had my eyebrows waxed here a couple of times, which is a new service they’re offering at PURE.

I came here to get my hair done for my family photo shoot. Never had a blow out prior and came here cuz of the awesome reviews. I had the best long curls which lasted days. I wish I had a pic to show everyone, but my old phone cracked and I lost all the pics. But it was super nice. Very comfortable atmosphere, great service.

I was in real need of a blowout and I have never done before, so I was excited to try it out. PURE is near my work + they were having a special Unilocal discount so I thought this would be the perfect place to go!
I went during my hour-​long lunch break, knowing I would be pushing it for time, and showed up 5 minutes before my appointment time. I checked in with the receptionist, and wandered around some. The place is small but very cute — filled with hair products and local-​made jewelry. However, nearly 40 minutes later I was still waiting. In clear eye sight of the stylists, I had to ask the receptionist when/​if they would be ready for me soon. Around 5 minutes later it was finally my turn.
I gave them a 2 out of 5 stars because although the woman who did my hair was very nice, it took them 40+ minutes for me waiting right in front of them/​bugging the receptionist for them to acknowledge me. & since I was already 30+ minutes late for work by the time my hair was washed, I only had time for a slight blow dry (so I wasn’t sopping wet).
They may be a wonderful blow out bar, but that wasn’t my experience. I was disappointed with my service & I don’t believe I would go there again.

While I am not a blowout regular, I do like to swing by once a year or so for special occasions. This special occasion was my husband’s holiday party, which involved cocktail attire and looking pretty. Since I’m normally a wash and air dry girl, I decided to fancy it up a bit and get it all smoothed out. I have naturally straight hair, but the blow dry does make a difference! This was my first trip to PURE and I used their Unilocal deal ($ 30 for $ 40).
I was greeted at the door and was asked if I wanted something to drink. Assuming this was water, I passed. I did see a few women drinking bubbly in the back, and wasn’t sure if that was complementary.
My hair stylist came out right on time and asked me what service I wanted. I think I responded «Just the normal blowout». I was kind of surprised I wasn’t shown pictures or something, especially it being my first time at this salon. I’ve only had blowouts twice before at different places, and they both and menu/​photo books.
Anyway, on with the service. Everything else was pretty good from here on out. There was a great scalp massage during the shampoo/​conditioner and my hair looked awesome! Sadly, I’m a hot yoga addict, so my hair only made it through the night. The next morning, I tried to dry shampoo after yoga, but it wasn’t great. Not their fault!

I found Tayler Omidi at the Pure Bar last year and am so glad I did. Tayler takes my curly hair and somehow makes it look lovely, smooth, straight and stylish. She is fast and up on the latest trends as well. I have watched her do up styles and prom looks as well as blowouts of all lengths while I have waited for her and she is great.

Renee Throckmorton has done a Cezanne straightening treatment on my hair twice. She is amazing! The treatment is incredible and makes my unruly hair tame, beautiful, and sexy for months! And Renee is friendly as well as talented!

I love the volume Amanda added to my hair! She gave me a Pinterest board of ideas to flip through that was really helpful. Thank you!

I’ve gone to Pure on all my trips to San Diego. I have clip in extensions and sometimes salons have a problem with them, but not Pure; they’ve been perfect every time. I have loved every stylist that I’ve seen. Everyone is always so accommodating, especially Olivia at the front desk! She throughly explained prices and packages AND offered me a glass of champagne as soon as I walked in for my appointment!
I recommend Pure to everyone! They use high quality products that smell great and leave my hair so soft. Last time I was there, I bought a bottle of Moringa and I’ve used it every single day… I cannot not use it!
Best of all, they put Gossip Girl on the TV while I was getting my hair done! Pampering AND entertainment! What else could a girl ask for?

LOVE this place. To make sure you have a good experience, ask your stylist to condition all of your hair (including bangs) if you have dry hair. It makes a huge difference. Jasmine is my favorite stylist, I always get compliments on my hair after seeing her. I have her do the curls a little tighter & just flip my hair before I leave for where I am going.
They also offer complimentary champaign (!!!) and a variety of other drinks. Also, I am really into products and blow dryers and was using pureology for a while and wondered why I never got the same affect when I have the best blow dryer & products… Then I tried their «Oy» shampoo and «miracle» conditioner. Then I use their «momo fluid» as a heat protector when I blow dry. NIGHT & DAY. Amazing. (I have dry and kinda frizzy hair). I’m sure they have a product for you too tho.

This is my favorite place to sit back and relax while getting a blow out! The team and owners at Pure are the best. They are so welcoming that you simply can’t get enough of their services.

A little Cramped, and not so friendly.
By reading the reviews, my experience seems to be out of the ordinary — but it was not good. I came in early and was told to leave and come back at my appointment time. No offer to wait, no offer of a drink, just if I could leave and come back. So, I wondered aimlessly around the strip mall for fifteen minutes and came back. When I did come back it seemed as if my stylist was waiting for me. Oh, well.
The space itself is small. It felt cramped. My stylist was sweet and nice, but the front staff seemed annoyed.
All in all my experience was just ok. I won’t go back and for the $ 2 extra will stick with Dry bar in Del Mar — where I have never had a bad experience.

Best blowout bar in sd! Love this place! All of the girls are great here and it is consistently an amazing job each time! I had a horrifying experience at blo the blowout bar in Carlsbad in which they ripped out my hair and the employees were extremely rude! I am so happy that I have had a positive experience everytime here at pure! All of the employees here are so nice and talented! My hair always holds great and I can even make it last up to 3 days with the help of dry shampoo! The products they use are amazing as well as all natural! On top of this they are even cheaper than drybar in del mar and blo in Carlsbad! I recommend everyone to come here! Thanks pure for giving me such an amazing experience every time!

I ‘purely’ chose this place because I found them on Unilocal.My girlfriend and I had a wedding to go to so we wanted to choose a place that had good reviews and well established.
I called to make an appointment which went smoothly and received text messages to remind me. I mentioned I saw a promotion on Unilocal (the $ 27 for the regular $ 37) and they said «don’t worry about buying it online, just come in and we’ll honor it.»
Walked in to check in. The front desk is bombarded by too many women trying to check you in (or out). I’m not sure why it’s so confusing or miscommunication between the front desk and the stylist.
They offer us water and cupcakes. I saw other people got some kind of champagne or prosecco. Don’t touch the cupcakes because there is hair that was blown all over it.
We had to wait so we sat by the waiting area, which is fine. I don’t mind waiting a few minutes.
My stylist calls me, she is pretty and her hair looks good so I’m happy since it looks like she knows what she’s doing. **Remember, I’m in for that Unilocal special that I saw and that’s what I called an appointment for.**
Clearly they were overwhelmed by clients who all came in at once and I think I was rushed out. I wanted my hair to be good looking for a wedding. It was accomplished. Got waves. It was easy and I was done in 15 mins. I think I could’ve done it at home. I didn’t get my hair washed and lots of hair product to hold it. Anyway…
This post is more about the principle and professionalism that I’m griping about. I felt like they wanted me to just get in the door. There’s a $ 5 off deal and I could have used that. I’m not sure if I would come back.

I’m a believer in the blow dry salon. Why it didn’t exists sooner, I don’t know. If you are a girl with as much hair as me, you hate having to deal with it in your own. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve intended to style my hair nicely and given up about half way in with a, «meh, good enough.» So, when I saw the groupon deal for a blowout and deep condition I snatched it right up.
So…I was waiting for something special to use it for and hadn’t. Groupon emailed me saying it was about to expire and I figured I better get on it. I made an appointment for the next day without a problem for the time I wanted. It probably helped that it was a Sunday.
I just assumed I knew where it was and parked in the lot to the north and came in rushed to be on time so when I was asked what I would like to drink without any sort of list of what my possibilities were I said water but Charlotte, my stylist, rectified that quickly with champagne when I sat in her chair.
Shampoo was lovely and relaxing, she also took time to understand what I wanted and even asked when I was going out so we could achieve the right look for then. I wanted sexy wavy hair (who doesn’t?!) but she curled it a little tighter to ensure it would be just right for the event. I left a happy customer.

I feel bad writing this review because I LOVE headlines for hair and had been going there for a long time but I feel compelled because my service was THAT bad.
First off, I bought a group package online for two blowouts. It was only a $ 5 discount but since I was treating my mom and myself I found this pretty great. Once my mom finished she went to pay for a product and they told her she had to pay. Only I, who purchased the package could use it. Okay I understand that except for the fact that this is not stated online. This was a birthday present to my mom and she ended up paying for her own hair…
Secondly, everything is great besides the service. The salon is clean, pretty and uses amazing hair products. They use Davine’s products which I LOVE. So props to them for using nice stuff. Also they had cupcakes and champagne for free. That is a huge plus and creates a really nice environment.
However, the actual service was SO poor. Everything was going great. They even give you a free 5 minute head massage when getting your hair washed… so nice! I have pretty thick hair which usually takes longer but its never been a problem elsewhere. This time however it was. My moms hair looked amazing and was finished in 30 minutes — hers is also short. The girl doing my hair ended up spending an a little over an hour on mine. I understand they have 45 minute slots allotted for services but a blonde (manager or receptionist) kept coming up and saying «hurry up» and «are you almost done?» to the hairdresser. SO rude. It made me feel uncomfortable, as well as my mom and the hairdresser ended up rushing through the curling. My hair ended up falling within 10 minutes of me arriving at home.
I’m not sure if the girl was new but my hair ended up looking so horrible. They ended up saying that I could come back and they would blow out my hair again. However, they knew that I was planning a surprise party for my mom that started in an hour. Of course I couldn’t go back in! My mom ended up straightening my hair for the party. I seriously had to redo my hair after getting it blown out here.
They ended up being nice when I complained and comped my moms hair appointment she paid for and my «package.»
To sum it stick to the dry bar in Del Mar. This place might actually be great and I just had a bad experience. I hope thats the case! You may not want to come here though if you have a special event because their service seems inconsistent.

I’ve been in 3 times now and it’s a genuine local place with awesome staff and service-I’ve loved my hair every time.(granted I get it super straight with just a little volume) it’s so cute that you can sip on some bubbly and watch a chick flick while you’re getting pampered. The other added value going here is the head massages during the washing. It’s longer and the quality is so much better than some other places-​and it’s not an extra charge!
They also use Euphora products-​which my stylist prefers and I love. It’s nice that my hair feels like MY hair even after they do it-​not with products I’m not used to. Solid place to get your hair did ladies, book it! You’ll be happy you did.
