I have been using Dr Gee for several years. I have to say I think it’s time for him to retire.
Office staff is a jumbled mess. Dr Gee himself seems very scattered. Seems like he doesn’t want to take the time or truly cares beyond how much he charges
Worst of all he misdiagnosed my pet’s condition as congestive heart failure! When I ask questions as to how he determined that, he literally said to me «I think we’re finished here «So obvious he was too rushed to be through. So sad and very scary.

Deciding to change Veterinarians is a heavy decision… but thankfully in my case an excellent one! My dog was suddenly having allergy problems. Constantly scratching… I didn’t think it was fleas… but weeks of her scratching at her eyes and making the area around it nearly raw, I realized I needed help. The vet I was using recently moved… so I decided to search Unilocal.I read the reviews on this clinic and made an appointment. What a GEM Dr. Gee is. He was like the «Dog Whisperer» down on the ground checking my dog, trying to figure out the problem. After almost 20 minutes, he tells me he doesn’t see any flea problems and that he feel that I most likely need to clean my carpets (and actually I really do!) He prescribed some medicine and 3 days later she is almost a new dog. Thank you Dr. Gee for your talent!

We have been taking our French Bulldogs and various cats to Dr. Gee and Dr. Tanaka for years and we are very happy with the quality of care they offer.
The staff is friendly and reassuring and the Dr’s really seem to be thoughtful in their diagnoses and plotting their course of action. We feel that they make their decisions truly based upon the welfare of the animals and don’t up sell, over prescribe or recommend unnecessary expensive surgery.
It is difficult for me to say categorically because I have limited frame of reference but we feel the prices we pay are reasonable and in line with vet clinic norms.
Dr. Gee may perhaps be a little misunderstood because his social skills are a little awkward at times but once you get to know him it is clear that he truly cares about the animals that we all put in his care.
We have no reservations in recommending Santa Fe Animal Clinic.

These guys are awesome! Offered to spay my stray cat for 70 $ and got her in in 24 hrs after another Vet (Sandy Paws in Carlsbad said she was in heat and wanted $ 400 to spay her) When they checked her out they found out she was already spayed and most defiantly NOT in heat.

I was underwhelmed by most aspects of this animal clinic. I feel like the front end staff are very disorganized (kind, but disorganized). In two situations where I needed a copy of my pets medical records faxed, they ignored the initial requests and I had to call back two then three times.
The one time I had to call Dr. Gee to ask for immediate guidance in an emergency situation when I was out of town I was told he’d call right back… six months later he apologized for not calling back. Meanwhile I rushed her to an emergency vet in Chicago, but having her vet involved (or even giving the slightest inclination that he cared) would have made that tough situation a little better.
Wellness checks are not thorough at all and are pricey for the limited effort put into them. I agree with Anita P. My current vet looks in my dogs ears, eyes, checks her breathing, heart rate, tongue, teeth, weight, temp etc… Dr. Gee did her temp once, but never again after that… his staff weighs her and he just kinda looks her over in a matter of seconds. It all feels very hurried.
Also, Dr. Gee said my dog’s luxating patella was a level one and there was no need to intervene… my dog’s new veterinarian found the knee cap in such a condition that it would not pop back into the groove (level 4). This was when I sought a second opinion (less than a week later, mind you) because my dog was clearly in pain and limping. At Dr. Gee’s office a vet tech called him out to look at her limping after her check up where she was deemed okay (without him even touching her hurt knee) and he just let me know that that was normal and he knee cap would pop back in. We are having her surgery this coming week, thanks to the new vet– sadly, she has been suffering since her first appointment with Dr. Gee well over a year ago. I’m glad I got a second opinion. I give two stars instead of one for the kindness of the vet techs and the nice lady working at the desk who tried to get Dr. Gee to give my girl a second look. But for all of the above reasons and many more, I cannot recommend this veterinarian.

I cannot speak for this office regarding serious, life threatening issues, only with general appointments however, we will no longer be using this clinic because they overcharge for appointments, and seem to have an incompetent office staff.
The last time my dog needed his annual exam and vaccinations. Dr. Gee listened to his heart, touched him once and pronounced him «fine». I was charged $ 65, plus charges for the vaccinations.
The office staff is not very courteous, always seem disorganized, and the techs are doing internships – which is fine, except we’ve never had one who knows what they’re doing. They are uncomfortable with my (very nice) dog and kept running back to ask the manager what to do. We have been to this office 5 times and have had the same experience each time.
Dr. Gee never spoke to me, instead he spoke to the dog, which would be fine if he said anything of substance. The dog isn’t paying, I am.
Last thought. Our rat was having uncontrolled seizures as well as a respiratory infection. She was 3 years old and obviously at the end of her life.
Instead of being nice and helping with the euthanasia, they wanted to charge me $ 90 for an exam. For a rat. Who was old and dying.
I found another vet who helped with the process – $ 10.
I’ve tried to give this clinic the benefit of the doubt, but 5 visits seems more than generous.

Santa Fe Animal Clinic gives discounts on initial exams if your pet is a rescue. Also is part of the SNAP program which gives discounts on spaying and neutering. I had 4 kittens to spay and believe me the discount was significant.
I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this place but my experience has mostly been good. And they are open on Saturdays which is a big plus.

Olo, I had my dog neutered @ this place and it was the worst experience in my life, Dr. Gee almost killed my dog he got a serious infection from a basic neutering if we had listened to Gee the dog would Have died. He w/​fixed on Thursday by the following Wednesday he h ad an infection showing bad signs we took him back to Gee he gave him the wrong meds sent him home the infection got worse setting in to his legs nearly paralyzing him we took him back to Gee, when he saw sparty again near death he looked panicked he swooped him up an took him back into emergency surgery he did fix his mistake, but charged me for the wrong meds and sent me a bill for 80 bucks for visit WTF! Are you kidding me right now, after apologizing for the first bill for meds they tried to get me to pay for the visit I let em have it told them F Off u dam near kill my dog and want me to pay you holy shit these people are something else please stear clear of this place if possible!!!

I have been taking my 4 cats to Santa Fe Animal Clinic for a bout 2 years now and have always received WONDERFUL service from them.
Dr. Gee really and his staff really cares about your animals and is very reasonable in terms of cost of care.
Dr. Tanaka recently preformed a surgery on my cat Theo who had needed a femoral head ostectomy (FHO).
The way he explained things about what needed to be done, the follow-​up care, and his genuine compassion blew me away! Theo is doing great!
Santa Fe Animal Clinic is absolutely the best place around for your animal care.

Had my dog spayed here! They were suppose to give me an antibiotic for her (which I paid for) come to find out they gave her pills «in case» she had an allergic reaction to he vaccine she received. This was never explained to me I thought it was an antibiotic. Well she ended up with a horrible infection after surgery and I had to take her back and pay for another exam and pay for the antibiotic I should’ve received and paid for to begin with! Bad communication and sneaky too!

Dr. Gee is amazing! If you’re looking for a human doctor who looks you directly in the eye to ask you questions about your pet, this isn’t the place for you. If you’re looking for a vet who really cares for and relates to animals on a non-​verbal level, this is the guy to see. At first I was a little put-​off, but was told ahead of time by many neighbors and friends that Dr Gee is ALL about the pets first and foremost. His bedside manner is reserved for the dogs and cats (and bunnies).
Our old vet used to do house calls, but has since moved out of the area. Our rescue dog was very scared about going to a vets office. We needed to have our dog seen on an emergency basis, and the staff squeezed us in immediately. They were very accommodating and sweet to our scared «big baby» of a dog, did a thorough exam, diagnoses (good news), and sent us on our way. The next day I received a follow-​up call just to make sure he was getting better.

My dog came to this vet twice, once for a neuter and another for a baby tooth extraction. Being there twice you’d think I’d meet the at least once, especially since my dog had to be put under for each procedure. The vet and the techs never gave me the proper instruction of what to do after both procedures. Never told me to fast my dog before going into each procedure either. Good thing I already knew.
Since I cannot comment on my experience with the actual vet, I’ll comment on the techs that I saw there. I met two techs. One was nice but again did not provide any instruction for care of my dog after the procedures. The second tech shouldn’t be working with animals. When she saw my dog, she picked him up and said normally I hate smaller dogs but this one is okay. Then I said sometimes he pees when he gets excited so watch out. She immediately threw my dog on the counter and said to the other tech, he take care of this one. There is no way I’m getting peed on today. She was very rude.
Oh I actually can comment on my experience with the vet. One night I called him and asked about the pain medication I was given. The bottle I received didn’t state that they were pain meds. So I called the vet during off hours. He picked up and said we use those bottles and labels for the pain meds even though it’s incorrect. I asked if he was sure because the label was completely wrong. He hung up on me. The next day he told a tech to call me to make sure the pain meds were indeed pain meds and to check if my dog was okay. Very unprofessional.
Obviously I will not be returning there. The only reason I went there was because the vet is part of the snap program for neutering. I went back the second time because there quote on a tooth extraction was less than others. Well I learned my lesson. You get what you pay for. Hope this review helps out future clients and/​or the vet office to improve their customer experience.

Dr. Gee and his staff are wonderful! Very conscientious about cost, but incredibly loving and gentle with our two dogs! I would easily recommend Santa Fe Animal Clinic to all of my friends, neighbors, etc.

I’ve never had a bad experience with this office, they have always been great to me and kind to my pup. The only complaint I have is with communication. They don’t return emails or faxes. Best bet is to call or walk in.

At first my experience was pleasant. I brought my two medium sized dogs in for a first time exam. The office staff were friendly to me and my animals (gave treats and petted). I also had my foster pup with me and the staff was willing to spread the word that he needed a home.
However when dr gee came in he did not introduce himself or even speak to me to ask about my dogs. The first thing he did was grab my rescued/​abused dog by the shoulders and started to pull him closer to him. My poor guy was so scared that he peed himself. Dr gee then grabbed a tranquilizer and almost injected it into my dog without even talking to me. I yelled «put that down and let go of my dog!» He said «fine» and he walked away.
The techs came in to recommend some products. Then I proceeded to check out where they said my visit was going to be $ 105. I refused to pay for the visit because I received NO EXAM and dr gee basically abused my dog. Why in the world is this man a vet!!!

I decided to take my two dogs to Santa Fe Animal Clinic after moving to Encinitas and having a new– found issue with fleas!
Dr. Gee and his staff were so helpful in getting us in quickly and answering all my questions. You can tell they really care about animals and each patient they see. Both of my dogs needed shots and two different vet techs came in the room to pet and soothe my dogs!
I would highly recommend Dr. Gee to handle all your veterinary needs!

Waited 10 min in the lobby while the three young girls chatted away somewhere in the back. Called out for someone several times. Ended up having to walk to the back to find someone. They were obviously taken Aback by me walking to the back to find someone to help. So when I completed paying for my dogs medication guess who didn’t get a thank you? Terrible place run by immature you g girls who think they are the only ones on the planet. If I was their DVM boss I would have been mortified.

We have been taking our rescue dog there since we got him a year ago and have never had a bad experience. The office is very clean and the staff friendly and knowledgeable.
My rescue dog recently was attacked, and had a severe wound to the shoulder and leg. It was after hours so we had to take him to VCA. They did a mediocre job and a few days later, decaying tissue was coming out of the wound site they said they cleaned! Took him to Dr. Gee who immediately cleaned and restitched their botched job, and saved his life.
Will never take my dog anywhere else! Buckley LOVES Dr. Gee!

we took our cat here to be neutered as they are part of the SNAP San Diego programme. They offer vet subsidized spay/​neuter surgeries. They were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. We only paid $ 50 for the service rather than the $ 100’s I was quoted by other vets in the area.
It’s a great programme that every pet owner should take advantage of.

We’ve been going to Dr. Gee for years now. Honest, caring, capable, and very skilled. If one adopts through the County shelter system or a rescue center, Dr. Gee gives a courtesy discount for the initial exam. My dogs have never been afraid to visit Dr. Gee and they all were rescued dogs. It says a lot about his gentle touch.
Staff has always been courteous and knowledgeable as well.
