Athletic Physical Therapy

My first visit is horrible. My appointment was 9:00a. It’s 10:30a and I have not seen the doctor yet. The receptionist tries to accommodate me by putting me & my kid in one of the rooms. Still waiting again. Do they overbook patients? Never coming here again. Not looking toward to my parking bill. I’m still waiting here. It’s been over 2 hours already. This is unbelievable. I can’t believe more people haven’t reviewed about this place.

They will sign you up but they are always booked or don’t have enough therapists to accommodate appointments, so you will not be able to get in when you need to. My doctor said 3x per week and I couldn’t get a second appointment before a 1.5 weeks out (after I wasted my time to sign up with them). Also, not sure if this is par for the course, but you never get a PT the whole time, the one time I went I had a very lethargic aid who was just putting in the time, and didn’t seem very engaged. I could have done the routine at home.

I went to physical therapy there for a few weeks after a sports injury, the first thing you must know, is that you have to pay for parking and they validate 50%. That is a bit poor/​cheap to me considering the cost of PT but oh well.
The team at the Encino location was nice, although the set up is quite strange, one physical therapist can have 3 people at the same time as your appointment, and then they have an assistant helping you. That does not make you feel like you are getting the attention you deserve really. I think this is more an issue of the way the schedules are set, by Management. Before I went I was asked for my insurance information, and called back with what my co-​pay would be. Which is what I paid for many many visit… over 10 i think. Where my issue came was, after almost 10 sessions, where they were charging me for my co-​pay, i received a bill for hundreds of dollars, based on what they told me my insurance was not willing to pay! Well of course I called my insurance, and found out that they had never submitted for payment! and even after they submitted, and realized that my co-​pay was wrong, they continued to charge me the same amount. I called their accounting person, Paula or something like that, and I could tell that she had made the mistake, because she became very aggressive over the phone, and was trying to blame me for not knowing my co-​pay!!! REALLY!!!
I spoke to one of the Managers, and honestly, he did try to help, but the size of the bill was incredible, and their negligence in their billing and communication is extremely poor, very unprofessional, and not a business I would recommend to anyone. Needless to say, I switched and I am at SCOI, where my progress is visible, and I get the one on one attention any patient should receive. Sad to say, that I had to go somewhere else to realize that I was at a cheap/​ghetto physical therapy spot. Save your money, go to a reputable place.

What ever they did helped me for the first time in 12 years. Highly recommend this place.

Girls are great on the phone very true but once you’re there they are incredibly unprofessional, the owner of the company refused to call me back a second time because the first time he called I was busy. Very inappropriate unprofessional conversations, very awkward, and they seem to have a large turn over or switching of therapists in the office as they have multiple locations I’m assuming the reason being. I actually stopped going after four sessions because of poor service and things they said were not followed through on. I noticed in 2011 the review were much better then the current reviews… I wonder why that is. Very mediocre experience overall and I have been to two other PT places!

This review is based on my initial reaction of trying to visit this PT.
The girl on the phone is GREAT, she is very nice, helpful and accommodating. The people at their billing company are also very nice and helpful.
The reason I’m giving 2 stars id because of the parking and the location of the actual PT office.
Be warned that the parking lot is a pay lot that accepts CASH ONLY. I was unhappy because PT costs a lot of money and then to pay cash for parking on top of that was very inconvenient.
Next getting to the office with a disability proved to be confusing and difficult. I had to park on the street because I didn’t have cash for parking… I almost got hit by a couple speeding cars when crossing a 4 lane street (Balboa) on crutches, there was no crosswalk.
Next finding the PT office and then navigating to it was a bit confusing and difficult. The office is on the second floor… you have to go into a doctors office, then through the facilities of that doctors office to the back to reach the PT clinic located in the back. It was a bit strange and tough with my injuries to reach PT. I felt uncomfortable having to navigate through one business to reach another.
Once there the office girl was very friendly and helpful. The person I was to do PT was there but didn’t introduce herself or even say hello. I finished my paperwork and waited for 20 minutes. I was bummed because I was paying good money for my 60 minute visit and 20min of it was wasted doing nothing… I can do nothing for free.
The facility seemed well equipped but I don’t know for sure because I never actually got treatment. I left after 25 – 30 minutes without being treated.

This facility is filled with people who really care about delivering the best possible care in order to rehabilitate you from your injuries. I also know a few other people who would highly recommend them. Thanks APT!

Awesome. The pros at Athletic Physical Therapy will get you back on your feet in no time flat. Scott and Jennifer are knowledgeable and friendly.

They know their stuff and are easy to work with, nice people. Cora, Steve & Jennifer are great at what they do. Facility is well kept. Overall I’d recommend them to anyone needing such services.

I’ve been going to Athletic Physical Therapy for several years now, for a variety of (usually) minor ailments. The staff has always been highly professional, extremely skillful and experienced and almost always has resulted in me feeling much, much better at the end of a sequence of sessions. Steve, Jennifer and Brian… plus others in the past and present… are the best. I wholeheartedly endorse and provide my testimonial to them.
