Established in 1996.

Jennifer Kramer started Corrective Skincare as a solo practitioner in this location. Corrective Skincare expanded when Mary Scott joined in 2012 and Suzanne Tarakjian in 2013. The newly remodeled Encino office boasts a safe and very clean, comfortable environment. Our office is «green,» featuring online booking, digital receipts, sulfate free cleansers and scrubs, and chemical peels derived from simple, organic and natural fruit and plant compounds.

In 2013, Corrective Skincare expanded further to offer treatments at Skin By Lovely, a Medical Aesthetics practice in Santa Monica, CA.

Business Owner

Jennifer Kramer is a Para-​Medical Esthetician with more than 20 years of experience. As an adolescent, Jennifer struggled with acne. Nothing seemed to clear her. She tried facials, cortisone injections, and most prescription drugs on the market, including Accutane.

While in college, she finally learned how to clear her own skin with the help of an Acne Clinic. In 1993, she received her Esthetician License. Jennifer later fine tuned her skills by training with Dr. Fulton, M.D., Ph.D., who co-​invented Vitamin A Acid and helped pioneer the development of Benzoyl Peroxide and topical Erythromycin. Working with Dr. Fulton helped Jennifer create her niche in clinical Corrective Treatments.

Jennifer works with acne, scarring, and discoloration in all skin types, with clients of all ethnic backgrounds. She opened Corrective Skincare with the belief that success comes from understanding what caused the condition, how to improve the condition, and how to prevent it from coming back.

My mom and I have been going to Jennifer for facials for years. She’s so knowledgable about acne and always leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed after extractions and a peel. My skin is so clear after as long as I keep up with washing my face at night. She is truly so knowledgable and cares deeply for all her clients. I love that she sticks with the same products that she knows and loves while striving to improve them in anyway she can. She has her own chemist who develops the greatest and newest products in the skincare industry. Every time I go I feel so much better about my skin. Definitely worth buying the products for upkeep. Without them it’s still a great facial, but with them you will keep your skin clear forever.

I’ve been cursed with acne. As a performer this is my worst nightmare. I am so blessed that I found corrective skincare.
I’ve been a customer for about three months. Each esthetician has been super informative about how to treat my specific acne. It’s great to get a facial where they aim to treat your specific needs. I don’t get facials to feel pampered but rather to feel clean and prevent my acne.
My skin is so much better! I have never been more happy with my skin! Believe me when you go in, listen to them. All of the ladies know so much. They are there to help. I bought their acne system and I’m so glad I did. Yes it’s a little expensive all at once, but I’m done with things that barely work. They know what they are doing and they know what works.

This review is long overdue! I have been going to Mary for almost two years and she has completely transformed my skin! She is so knowledgeable and passionate about her work. I have always struggled with breakouts and blackheads and acne. Not anymore! Now I actually get compliments on my skin and barely ever use foundation or concealer. If you go to her– try a peel. It’s like a thousand, tiny angels– slapping your face into perfection! I am so thankful my friend sent me to Mary two years ago. Thanks Mary!

Since Suzanne has moved my new magic worker is Mary. At first I was a little nervous just because Suzanne had been my primary gal for months, but Mary was SUPER friendly and personable! She made me feel so comfortable and did my face justice. She’s not only intensely capable, but she’s sweet and really tries to do the most for your skincare goals!
Sabina is also really awesome! She’s worked the front almost every time I’ve been there and she’s always very friendly and attentive. I absolutely love this place and do not trust anyone or anything else with my skin. I’ve gotten so much results and compliments on my skin now. My only regret is that I didn’t come sooner.

Everyone at Corrective Skincare is AMAZING. The care here is second to none and they always follow up to make sure Im okay. I came in with a face full of blemishes and acne and they cleared it up after 2 sessions. I keep coming back to keep my skin in tip top shape! Although everyone here is amazing, I specifically recommend Mary who is the sweetest ever! She’s always a text away if I have any skin questions and is always with a smile.
The place is always clean and very inviting.

Went here after going to Skin By Lovely for a year or so. Maybe it was just our technician but the scabs and bruises the next day were just horrible. Scars were the result in several spots.
Don’t recall the technician’s name but she had blond hair, was very nice, but way too rough. We went back to Jen at Skin By Lovely, but eventually gave up and went to Proactiv with better results and no scars!

I have tried a number of different things but nothing has worked except for corrective skin care. Mary is super sweet and has helped me understand my acne. I truly recommend this place. Not only did they help me with my individual needs but Mary taught me how to make subtle changes that made a HUGE difference.

A no frills, dermatology/​medical like clinic that is probably best suited for clients with severe and persistent acne. I went in once and I can’t say that it was fantastic enough for me to continue with their treatments and plan. Yes, she gave me a 2 week regimen to follow as the beginning step. The esthetician did have some valuable pointers but I felt like the extractions and face mask may have made more of a difference if incorporated into an ongoing treatment for more problematic skin. I would have to come in every 3 – 4 weeks as they suggested and its not worth $ 125 a pop for me.

I’m not going to lie, I’m so bummed that my experience wasn’t great. I came in here because the texture of skin feels dry, however at the same time, I’ve suddenly become so abnormally oily, and my pores are extra big/​clogged. (Not what people define as combination skin, but more like dead skin with oil). I look like a vaseline face with tiny bumps everywhere.
The girl who helped me was super nice and made me feel relaxed. I loved her as far as general customer service goes, however as an esthetician, she was okay. Here are the cons… She told me I have beautiful skin, which was sweet of her but that’s not what I wanted to hear. It’s pretty obvious I have troubled skin, or I wouldn’t be dropping $ 200 — $ 300 on a visit.
The facial/​procedure she did definitely helped. My skin feels better, however, it definitely does not look any better. I even bought a few products including a moisturizing cream (they make it there, my bf loves it) an spf moisturizer (which you can buy at sephora or amazon), and some cleansing pads. Neither has changed my skin at all. I asked what cleansers she recommended and she couldn’t name not one. She said Neutrogena worked well but couldn’t give me a specific product.
Considering the amount I payed, I probably won’t be going back. I am so sad about it too! I’m sure they’re great, however, I believe they specialize in severe acne more than anything. I wish I would’ve known this before I dropped so much $$$

I’ve tried everything on acne. Spent a lot on facials and acne products. None of it worked. I went Corrective Skincare yesterday. The environment is good. Susanne was pretty nice, but the extractions hurt. I guess she had to clean me up. I am starting to use the daily régime she gave me and I will post updates on my skin in 2 weeks.

Jen has been working on my skin for nearly five years now, she has consistently helped me regain confidence in myself when I am feeling self-​conscious about my appearance. The whole team at Corrective Skincare is amazing, if Jen is unavailable Mary and Suzanne are quick to help and I love that anytime I have a question or concern I can always call and get helpful advice over the phone. The environment is warm and comforting, and it is obvious these women are passionate about what they do. If you suffer from acne or skin discoloration, give them a try. They do really great work here.
Tip: Get the products and follow your regimen religiously!

The routine she put me on cleared up my face like never before. Their products are really, really good and priced extremely reasonably. It just breaks down to really simple self care and commitment to a routine. Everyone should have a personalized skin routine. Everyone’s different. See a professional. Trust.

You cannot get better than Corrective Skincare. When I first came to the clinic, I had been dealing with adult acne for a year and a half and it had just become unbearable. I’ve never had perfect skin, but once I turned 22 my face became super inflamed and I was breaking out all around my chin, mouth and jaw. I was miserable. I felt ugly, unprofessional, and self-​conscious. I felt embarrassed when people looked at my face! Especially because I didn’t have any control over what was going on. I tried EVERYTHING. Pills from my dermatologist, topical treatments, natural remedies, masks, creams, supplements, and serums. Still no control over my acne. I felt like my acne was taking control over my life! All I could think about was my skin, my bumps, my redness, and if my makeup covered it.
By the time I was recommended Corrective Skincare, my face was at it’s worst. Now, one year later, my face is the best it’s ever looked. These women are ANGELS. They are super informed and have an awesome attitude. During my first consultation I expected to hear all of the information I already knew (by that point I had spent countless hours researching acne online and was basically an expert on all the things that DIDN’T work for me), but Mary told me a bunch of new information about my skin, including how it was «thick» and could therefore get clogged easier, and how they were going to put my on a skincare regimen to «thin» my skin and clear it out. She did a great job with the extraction, and by the time I had my second one, my face looked better than it had all year.
A year later and I find myself wearing makeup maybe 1 or 2 days a week. I love my skin, I feel in control, and best of all I don’t have to spend hours a day thinking about it! I always look forward to my appointments are corrective skincare. Mary, Susan, and Jennifer are all wonderful and I genuinely get excited to see them and talk to them when I visit. I feel super taken care of and my regimen works great. My skin feels light and soft– for a while I couldn’t even imagine a time where I would run my hands over my face and not feel bumps. Now: no bumps! Corrective Skincare has my business for life. They are smart, savvy, and they know what they’re doing. There’s hope for your skin yet! Let Corrective Skincare prove it to you. I plant on going here for a loooong long time.

Suzanne is a miracle worker! I’ve suffered from acne for about ten years. I’ve tried everything under the sun (ie proactiv, Murad, antibiotics, homeopathic remedies, etc). After a dermatologist recommended I take accutane, I had just about had it. It wasn’t until a friend who was a patient at Corrective Skincare held a makeup seminar for people who suffered from acne. The staff made me feel so at home and they didn’t pressure me to buy anything, but just to consider coming in. I had my doubts, because honestly nothing has ever worked.
Fast forward to meeting Suzanne, when she first met me, my acne was awful. But she said «I’m going to clear you up.» And in my head, I’m thinking «okay, sure» but low behold, as I type this review I am almost pimple free. I have breakouts once and a while, but I’m happy to say my cystic acne is cured. Thank you so much Suzanne!

My 1st treatment was the «full treatment». I’m SO happy that I came here. I learned a lot of basics about skin and simple things that I’m not doing correctly. We’re talking 101 stuff, but like most dudes I was clueless.
I now use some of their face wash and I’m so glad I do. It is apparently a custom blend they put together for their clients. It is working really well on my oily skin. You should score some when you go.
I’ve got scarring and a lot of skin build up. The skin build up doesn’t let my pores drain like they want to. SO, I thought I had cystic acne. Turns out, I don’t. Thanks to Corrective Skin Care for setting me straight.
I like this place. They talk to me like a human and an adult. I think that’s rare in health/​medical/​wellness. What’s also crazy rare: They started on time. They didn’t make me wait like dentists and western physicians do. They value my time as much as they value their’s. Crazy! I know.

LIFE CHANGING!!! I have struggled with backache my whole life! I was too embarrassed and ashamed to wear backless clothing or my hair up even if the littlest part of my back was showing. I am now 26 years old and wish I found Corrective Skincare when I was 16! Kristie and Jennifer have done extractions and a few light peels on my back for about a month now and the results are ASTONISHING!
They are so knowledgeable! Not only did they explain to me why my back had these large blemishes and continuous breakouts but they also created an at home plan for me as well. Their products are AWSOME too, I’ve spent so much money on proactive and drugstore cleansers (you name it, I have tried it) and nothing has come close to the products they have introduced me to!

Finally, after years of dealing with acne, my skin looks a lot better and clearer. Suzanne is really great! I have been going to treatments with her for 5 months now and the result is incredible. She provides a personalized routine that works for my skin and adjusts it accordingly. She has controlled my breakouts and now we’re working on getting rid of the scars. I came here with a Gift voucher my mom purchased for me and so far I have been very happy with the results. I went in for an hour facial it’s clinical not relaxing especially the extraction Ugh! they explain things to you about your during the process. I left with my skin feeling clean. They use great products that feel light and fresh. I purchased a face wash and cream that they sell (without pressure just recommendation) They bottle it themselves. I have been following their routine instructions and my skin feels great! They like to follow up with you to make sure your skin looks great and to make any changes to your routine if needed.
If your like me who has had to deal with problem skin (acne) all your life than this is a great place to try I’m glad I found them :-)
