Fitness made fun for kids! :)

My Gym has developed an extraordinary program and facility devised to help children 6 weeks through 13 years of age develop physically, cognitively and emotionally. Our state-of-the-art facility, extensively trained staff, award-winning class programs, and excellent student/teacher ratio have earned My Gym the reputation as the best early learning program of its kind.

The thrill of accomplishment from achieving a physical task builds self-esteem and confidence that carry over into all aspects of a child’s life. Interaction with our highly trained staff provides children the opportunity to establish warm relationships with compassionate adults, thus raising their level of comfort as they begin preschool/kindergarten. Our My Gym Kids learn more about themselves as they develop independence, self-discipline, social skills and even a sense of humor, all of which lead to an increased feeling of self-worth.

History

Established in 1983.

My Gym was created in 1983 by William Caplin and Yacov & Susi Sherman, who opened their first two My Gyms in Santa Monica and Van Nuys, California. Utilizing their experience in the fields of sports, dance, early childhood development, kinesiology and gymnastics, they developed a program and facility where children actively participate in a variety of structured, weekly physical education classes to gain social skills and self-esteem.

In 1989, Cory Bertisch and Monique Vranesh, then recent graduates of the University of California at Santa Barbara, purchased My Gym in Van Nuys and expanded the concept & program. Monique still owns that original ‘Van Nuys’ My Gym, which now enjoys huge success as My Gym Encino — co-owned & operated by our very own Activator Eric (aka Eric Grindler).

Meet the Business Owner

Eric G.

Business Owner

Fresh out of High School a lady by the name of Monique approached this young man at a wedding and asked him if he wanted a job working with kids. The young boy replied, «I don’t want to work with kids — I want to be an actor and make people laugh.» After the lady convinced him to come in and check out this My Gym place the young man fell in love with the idea of My Gym.

Through the many years Eric developed thousands of relationships with the wonderful families in the San Fernando Valley. He has continued to live his dream out of being a business owner with his best friend and partner Monique and loving his job everyday. He also is able to be that young man that wanted to an actor. Starring in ‘My Gym at Home’ on the Baby First network and now starring as Activator Eric in the new webseries ‘The Activators’ (www.theactivators.net), he has everything he has ever wanted.

Oh but wait there is one more thing, he also finally got married last year!
