Dr. Barnajian personally experienced the healing power of chiropractic care as a patient while he was a college student. After being rear-​ended in an automobile collision, Dr. Barnajian began having back pain for the first time in his life. Knowing something was not right, he sought the care of a chiropractor. This was not the first time Dr. Barnajian had seen a doctor for his spine however. While in junior high school, he was diagnosed with scoliosis (abnormal curvature of the spine) by the school’s nurse and was referred to an orthopedic doctor for evaluation. The doctor x-​rayed and examined Dr. Barnajian and confirmed the scoliosis. However, the doctor felt that no treatment was necessary and that they would just monitor the condition from time to time. Upon evaluation by this first chiropractor, it was revealed that the pain in Dr. Barnajian’s back was definitely related to his pre-​existing scoliosis. He received a course of chiropractic treatment and was able to get out of pain.
