Dr. Yu is so great! His staff is very friendly and professional.

I must say Dr. Yu is efficient, you usually can get in and out and somehow he makes you feel very at home which is pretty great in an orthodontist’s office. The prices are very affordable and if you do get braces WEAR YOUR SHIRT AND BRUSH TEETH VERY, VERY, VERY WELL before each visit. You will get two tokens if you do and they add up to save you money in the end.

I was a patient of Dr Yu way back when i was 15 my cousins came to him also my best friend now my daughters. He is awesome very affordable times have been tough and my daughter lost her retainer he gave me an offer i could not refuse.

DDS Yu has transformed my teeth into a beautiful smile. He is great at what he does, and his prices are very fair. I’ve been a customer of his for years & have always been happy with the results.

Dr. Yu is by far the best ortho period. I found him when I was at UCLA. He was the only one who didn’t demand 50% down and balance in payments. I was then able to afford braces. All my kids went to him. He’s simply the best.

My two siblings, two cousins, and myself all came to Dr. Yu for our braces. Dr. Yu is such an awesome orthodontist and their office never fails to make me feel at home. He definitely knows what he’s doing. He even throws a Chinese New Year party for his patients every year and it’s actually cool. Free food, giveaways, and even a tradition lion dance.
I got the Damon system and only had my braces for about one and a half years. The Damon system is unlike traditional braces, but definitely a better choice in my opinion.
Having braces was the best choice I ever made and totally a confidence booster.

After years and years of putting off to get braces due to past experiences at other orthodontist and how confusing they would leave me i finally gave it another try and found the wonderful Stephen Y Yu, DDS. i was finally able to get the answers i have been waiting to hear. I cant wait to start this experience i have been waiting for. i can finally have that smile to show off. i would definitely refer friends and family heyyy even strangers.

Doctor Yu and his team are absolutely amazing! I never dread going to a visit, I can always count on Dr. Yu to brighten up my smile! So far had a fabulous experience with getting my braces and would no doubt recommend everyone in need of fixing their smile!

I was a 27 year old man with the desire to maximize the health of my teeth as well as enhance them cosmetically.
After several confused visits to Western Dental facilities, I didn’t fully understand why the phrase «surgical case» was being used so often. It turns out I was a necessary candidate for maxillofacial surgery (jaw surgery) as my teeth didn’t align. I had an underbite and my jaw was crooked as well.
Before I could even begin looking for an orthodontist that worked with surgical cases as myself, I endured 2 ½ disheartening years of general dental work that had to be completed and signed off on even before braces could be considered. It included 4 extractions, 2 root canals, 3 new cavities, 4 cleanings (one deep gum cleaning) changing 7 silver fillings to white composite, etc. I was relieved but pessimistic when I found Dr. Yu as I had not had much luck thus far with my oral health. He worked with surgical patients which was great.
His staff broke it down for me, both financially and medically, of the steps I’d need to complete before braces could be applied. They charted everything and made it simple to understand. What was initially expected to be a lengthy beginning process was probably a month long process, as my persistence was quite heightened and I was pretty determined. It meant getting xrays of my mouth and entire head with Dr. Yu, getting in touch with my general dentist for an oral health clearance, seeing my general doctor for a referral to a surgical specialist, seeing the specialist for a consultation and to have x rays completed all over again.
There was lots of collaborative planning between my surgeon and Dr. Yu about my specific treatment. Finally my braces were put on shortly after.
Dr. Yu was always realistic about the severity of my case but always so kind, specific, descriptive and supportive. Throughout the 2 ½ years I had with my braces BEFORE surgery, he was always so amazingly professional, the assistants extremely friendly and facility always immaculate.
I had my surgery on November 9^th, 2012 with Kaiser (just for quick reference: if you have Kaiser insurance and you’re a qualifying surgical case, the surgery is free of charge to you)
It was definitely a difficult and challenging recovery as I am a teacher and basically had to learn how to use my mouth all over again for both eating and speaking purposes. Not everyone complies with the necessary requirements of surgery, maybe for fear of the serious nature or because its a long process but let me say that it is worth the struggle. Recovering from this remains one of the most difficult times in my entire life. Luckily I had unparalleled support from loved ones during this period.
Seven anxious months later on May 7^th, 2013, before my May 10^th, 2013 30^th bday, my braces came off… I was ecstatic and so grateful that it was all over!!! My smile was GORGEOUS and I repeatedly received compliments from strangers and loved ones. It was more than a feeling of freedom or happiness that I felt.
I would relive the entire process under Dr. Yu’s care a thousand times over. I could never fully explain the gratitude for how he, as well as all the doctors and nurses, changed my life with their patience, abilities, professionalism and trust.
I would recommend this orthodontists’ services to anyone that is ready to smile from the inside out

I’m an adult with braces. What’s worse? I was a teen with braces as well!
Kids, wear your retainers or you’ll turn out like me. I had some minor imperfections (you can see in my photos that they were MINOR) that I really wanted to change, so I decided to go back to the wonderful Dr. Yu. I got my braces last August and am really hoping to get them off ASAP since you know… I’m a starving actress that needs to work (hint hint). So I’ll update once I get them off but really I have no complaints. The staff is always super friendly and professional. Dr. Yu always handles my crazy, eccentric personality perfectly and I am happy with the way my teeth are straightening out. So far, so good!

Dr. Yu is very professional and patient. I met him in person during the Anaheim DDS show but never used his service before, I’ve recommended couple of my friends in Encino to go see him during 2011, and had nothing but good stuff to say about the price and work. Would still recommend

Wow! I had no idea that you could still find a good deal in LA. Dr. Yu has amazing prices on braces and made me feel completely comfortable with no hard sell. I had really lost all hope at getting affordable braces when I walked into their office. The last orthodontist I went to was an hour late, told me I had a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of getting the smile I wanted and then quoted me a price that was 2K more than Dr. Yu. I waited a year and called Dr. Yu based on my dental office’s recommendation. A week later I saw the office administrator Melody who was fantastic. She answered every single question I had and then answered every possible question I would have had in the next coming months without me even thinking of it. I told her that cost was my number one concern and she showed me everything I needed to do to keep the price SUPER affordable. These guys are amazing and their 21 payment plan with no interest is a godsend! Dr. Yu is friendly, very very polite, and has 20+ years of experience under his belt. The assistants are super friendly and very very informative. They make me feel like a kid again, but in a fun way, not in a «OMG your 24 and getting braces kind of way». I still have a way to go with my braces, but I know I’m in good hands. :-)
