Valley Drug & Compounding

My daughter will not take oral medications; we can only administer ibuprofen topically. We’d used another compounding pharmacy in the past, but they have limited hours and their manner was not helpful or friendly.
This time, we took the prescription to Valley Drug & Compounding. Not only are they open longer each day, but they were friendly and helpful. The pharmacist confirmed that he could make the medication and told me when it would be ready and how much it would cost.
This is definitely the place we’ll go for future compounding needs.

I have to buy compounded meds for my dog’s IBD, but since dealing with Valley, I’ve actually moved over more prescriptions to them because they are so efficient and they ship out the medicines, usually I have them the next day.
Some types of meds that they carry are specialized, and if they are compounded, they will be expensive, but I checked the price with a local compounding pharmacy right in my area, and that pharmacy was higher than Valley even with the shipping added on. And Valley’s service makes the process painless– one phone call is all it takes.
I highly recommend them.

I wasn’t looking forward to driving alllllll the way out there on a Saturday afternoon. There was traffic, my whiney 4 year old was in the back seat asking if we were there yet. I love my dog so I really had no other choice when my dogs vet recommended this place. Was the drive out there worth it? ABSO-​FREAKIN-​LUTELY!
I didn’t exactly see a parking lot, but there may or may not be one in the alley behind the pharmacy. I pulled up on the street and popped in some money. The place is big in my opinion. They have a really nice assortment of new beanie babies that my daughter just loved. Luckily not too expensive lol. The gals in there were super nice and fast and I was so surprised that I waited no longer than 15 minutes. Like what? The pharmacist that was there came out to make sure I knew how to administer the insulin for my dog, I’ve been doing it for a bit now, but I know that he would have been more than happy to have helped me. They also have the best price on Vetsulin that I’ve found, which is a plus when you’re driving from Glendale to Encino. The best part was getting into my car only to realize that they had put a small ice pack in with the insulin to keep it cold. Seriously, they didn’t have to do that, but they did. I was dreading having to go home to put the insulin in he fridge since I needed to do some quick grocery shopping, but now that the ice pack was keeping the medication cold, I was able to go about my quick errand as I had wanted. It’s little things like that that keep me supporting the small local businesses. That ice pack, no matter how small the gesture may be to some, really made my day and made a difference. I will be so glad to make this drive whenever I need to fill my dogs Vestulin from now on.

Valley Drug & Compounding is my go-​to resource for specially prepared medications for my feline patients at Cat’s Meow Veterinary Clinic. Whether it’s transdermal methimazole gel or liver-​flavored «nastymycin» or temporarily out-​of-​production minor drugs, they have always been able to help out my clients and therefore my patients.

Let me start out by saying for the most part customer service here is very pleasant. The staff is very prompt on the phone & they follow through with you if there are any delays. I haven’t experienced over the top customer service, it’s just standard good service.
The majority of the business of this pharmacy is dealing with veterinary medicine. I haven’t really seen any human prescriptions filled so I wouldn’t be able to comment on that. My dog has been diagnosed with end stage kidney failure so our vet had referred us to this pharmacy. I didn’t need anything compounded just basic fluids, needles, IV sets, nausea medication & antacids. This is where the 2 stars comes in. These guys are beyond EXPENSIVE, Mind you if I were getting something compounded I would understand that but these are packaged medical equipment or basic meds (that humans would take too) that don’t justify their price tag. It’s been a lot of work, not to mention a financial strain taking care of my sweet pooch. Little by little I started making calls around & were able to locate other pharmacies that were charging HALF the price these guys are charging. When I spoke with the pharmacist (who I’m guessing is one of the owners) I asked if he could give me a price break since it’s been a financial burden. His response in summary? That they were barely charging over their cost. When I inquired who his wholesaler was, it happened to be the same wholesaler the other pharmacies that were cheaper were also using. He took down my name and number and said he would look into what he could do & call me back. He never called me & guess what? I’m never filling there again & complained to my vet why they would send us somewhere so expensive (which I think they already knew since right away they had other options) Shame on you Valley Drug for ripping people off. Never again.

I have been using this pharmacy at the recommendation of my vet. I have been very impressed with the great customer service. They mix my cat’s Rx with flavoring, which has made medication administration less unpleasant. My cat’s melds are mailed promptly to my home.

I have used this pharmacy for 8 years — they specialize in compounding pet medicines. They are always friendly & knowledgeable. They ship overnight for a reasonable fee.

I love this pharmacy. Every time I need a specialty drug or compound, they take care of it. They are experts at compounding but are always patient and caring.

I can’t begin to explain the roller coaster ride I’ve been on when it comes to medicating my special needs senior dogs. I discovered Valley Drug when my vet was out of a medication and I needed a refill. What a blessing that turned out to be! The staff at Valley Drug is the absolute best! They return my call promptly when I leave an after hours message. The pharmacists are so kind and willing to discuss all options regarding medication dosages and compounding to fit the needs of my dogs. I can tell everyone there truly CARES about delivering the best possible service to their clients. I now fill ALL of my meds thru Vally Drug. I live in Santa Monica and have never worried about driving to Encino to pick up the drugs as they provide fast and reliable delivery via either overnight shipping options or door to door messenger delivery. It’s a wonderful thing for a busy dog mom to be able to rely on the kind of service Valley Drug continues to provide me. I can’t thank them enough for making the stress of keeping up on my fur babies’ meds so much easier to deal with.

My pet Ferret Oliver suffers from Insulinoma and is on Prednisolone twice a day. The only type of Prednisolone I can get at the local pharmacy is a very bitter cherry flavor that Oliver cannot stand at all. He actually locks his jaw and it’s a horrible process to syringe the liquid syrup into his mouth each time. However, without the medicine he will die.
A friend mentioned switching the prescription over to Valley Drug & Compounding. They provide customized compounding with different flavoring that Oliver would like better. Although they are in Encino, they can ship the medicine. She’s used them for a while and was very happy with their service.
I had my Vet transfer the prescription over to Valley Drug & Compounding. They quickly called me as soon as they received the prescription order. I told them my situation and based on their experience they suggested the best alternative flavoring. Liver flavor… hahah can you imagine? Well he is a Ferret.
For only $ 5 they shipped the medicine and I actually received it the next day. I was so excited to try it, and sure enough Oliver took the medicine without even a flinch! He was like, hey that was tasty, and I want more hahaha…
Valley Drug & Compounding provides excellent service, with highly trained staff available to answer any question and are sincere with wanting to help. Quick turnaround, they filled the order and had it shipped so I was able to receive it the next day. Price, well I am paying a little more for the medicine, but it is a custom order. My pets are like family to me, and I will do anything to make them comfortable. Overall, I am very pleased with Valley Drug & Compounding and plan to refill with them again. Ohh, and Oliver says thank you too. =)

Came here to get some eye drops for my kitten last week. Fast service and friendly. There isn’t that much parking though. Make sure to pay the meter, kept seeing parking enforcement go by.

A vet in the San Gabriel Valley used another compounding pharmacy for seizure meds. I was not happy with several things.
I talked to my vets office and said that I wanted all of my 4 ½ pound dogs meds done by Valley Drug and Compounding. In less than 24 hours, my dogs medication was filled and delivered into the San Bernardino mountains. The service, medication, written instructions for drawing up the medication, syringe marked to proper dose, separate cap to draw medication up and shipping are above and beyond anything I have ever gotten from another pharmacy.
Regardless of where I live, in Calif., I will use this pharmacy and no other.

These people have the greatest customer service in the world, hands down. They have been providing oral chemotherapy drugs for my cat, and are so wonderful when I call to refill the prescription. The meds arrive on time, and are well-​packaged. But the best thing of all is that they are so caring and friendly. On a scale of one to ten, they are a twenty!

We get our dog’s medication here. The customer service is amazing! It’s a real neighborhood pharmacy with a warm cozy feeling you don’t get from the larger chains.

Our little dog has been very sick and dealing with Irving and the staff at Valley Drug has been the easiest part of all of this. He was kind and patient on the phone and went above and beyond the call of duty to get us the medicine that she needed for her heart. When the emergency vet made a mistake and gave us an incorrect prescription, Irving went as far as calling me after hours to make sure we had enough of the proper dosage to get her through the night. Absolutely incredible. I’m exhausted and emotionally drained, so that support has meant so much to me. Thanks to Irving for being a true gentleman! I’m never going to another pharmacy.

First mistake — going someplace for people meds that specializes in animals. But given I needed a compound and compound is in their name I didn’t even think there would be any issues. And I didn’t realize they specialize in animals.
Unfortunately they do not take insurance for compounds — but that is somewhat common for compounding I have been told, so I will deal with filing paperwork

Called to make sure they had all the ingredients — and they did –and as I came to find out later it was unusual that they actually answered the phone. After 48 hours and not being able to reach them by telephone stopped in and they hadn’t made it yet. And they are charging $ 61.36.
Called 3 other pharmacies who said they just need a few hours (always same day) — and they would charge anywhere from $ 39.95– $ 47 for the same thing — so I know I will not be going back for refills.
So poor customer service, long waits and high prices — not a good combination. Maybe they are better with animal meds — but I would comparison shop before purchasing here — and not be in a hurry.

The pharmacist Irving is a great person to work with. He’s very thorough in communicating all that needs to be taken care of and is a no nonsense individual. I’m writing as a salesperson who assisted him in a recent high ticket purchase, if he treats his guests at Valley Drug with the same patience and understanding as he treated my team and I he’s got a great thing going. I don’t understand the few negative reviews here, but it seems to me some people want to complain just to complain. Best wishes on the continued success of Valley Drug.

My pug has epilepsy and Valley Drug is a monthly call for me. The people who work there are all very nice, professional, and knowledgable about the products. They ship for a small fee, which saves me a trip out to Encino. The shipping company that they use lagged on our overnight delivery once and Valley Drug did what they could to track down the shipment and offered to give us a few pills to hold us over until it arrived. (My bad for waiting till the last minute to order the pills though.)
I’ve been burned by trying to get a good deal at another place ( Unilocal Pet Pharmacy, Los Angeles) that is totally shady. They knowingly messed up my dog’s meds, which resulted in a cluster of seizures and a big vet bill. From now on I’ll be smart and stick with Valley Drug because I know they’re legit and trustworthy.

They’re quick and friendly and and don’t take more than a day to fill a prescription. Only once in a while their free parking out back will be filled and you park on the street, and when you go inside, it’s only employees… so I don’t know if the parking is for them, but usually I can grab a spot.
The prices are pretty good, I don’t have insurance for my dog, but the prices here are cheaper than the other compounding places that are closer to me, so I don’t mind driving the extra 10 minutes.
Been going here for 3 years and never have a problem… only sleepy part is it’s a pharmacy, it looks like a pharmacy, there’s nothing exciting or cool about it. But they’re a good price: D
