Viktor Benes Continental Bakery

I’m only giving this people 1 star because I can’t give –1.
I ordered a cake at Hayvenhurst and Ventura location yesterday for Father’s Day today. They asked me when I would pick it up today I said between 10 and 11 am. I got there 11:20 am today and the cake wasn’t finished. Say what? You’re backed up in orders? It’s not my problem! I paid in advance I want the cake when you told me it you’d be ready. The counter person told me to wait 10 min…
I waited 30 min and left without a cake.
I went back this afternoon to finally get the damn cake. I complaint to gelsons manager and he said they were not responsible for the bakery. He goes to the bakery counter and tell the counter people they have no clue what to do or say. This woman goes inside to get the cake she can’t find it. She finally found it in the display shelf.
The owner of the bakery this old man was just standing there quiet, didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience and upset they put me through.
I didn’t know he was the owner, and when he leaves, the woman tells me he was the owner, when I had told her in the beginning of the conversation I wanted to talk to the owner.
This is suppose to be a high end bakery, using the space inside gelsons which is expensive as well and should provide the best customer service. Don’t ever buy from this shit hole! you’ll just have a bad experience and waste your time and money.

I had the lovely treat of having my birthday cake from here, it was such a delicious treat! The chocolate on chocolate was so good, not to sweet!

I really need to stay away from this place! The cookies here are soooooo good! So delicious!!! Haven’t tried their cakes or other items yet but that’s because I somehow feel less guilty picking up a few cookies every now and then. My favorites are the chocolate butter cookie sandwiches dipped in chocolate. I could do without the dipped chocolate but even with they are not too sweet. Anyway, try the cookies!

The carrot cake was as dry as a dead dingos donger;Such an average bakery, awful customer service too. If you are piling on so many calories, at least do it at a place where it tastes good. This bakery at Gelsons is a huge disappointment.

Third time is a charm? Nope.
After hearing this is the best bakery in town, I bought cookies and cakes twice in the past that lacked taste and flavor. They also tasted old.
I had my son’s eighth birthday party today and we decided to give this bakery another try. We bought 20 cupcakes and headed to Corbin Bowl for his party. His party was great, but the cupcakes were lousy. They were extremely dry and tasteless. I felt embarrassed as my guests bit into them.
I will never return to this bakery.

There’s nothing like Victor Benes. I used to go to their store in West Hollywood when I lived in the area, and there was no use going anywhere else for fine pastries. I was so sad when they finally closed the store. Now I go to Gelsons in Encino, which has a Viktor Benes Continental Bakery inside. Their fare is always fresh, delish, and yummy. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like, but one of my all-​time favorites is their Flourless Chocolate Cake.

I don’t shop at gelson’s, but stopped at this bakery on the way home to grab some sugar snacks before going home to study. There have a lot of pastries, cookies, and cakes to choose from. I got a chocolate croissants, some cookies, and a small bite sized carrot cake. They also have fruit tarts and other sugar goodies.
The staff was ok, and I would probably come back if I wanted a quick sugar fix.

I love the Strawberry Short Cake and the Chocolate Peresian. Delicious moist cake.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

Elvis was fantastic putting up with a rude Chinese couple who ordered a iced coffee and the man made him take out the ice out then walked Walked out when we ordered the wife wanted Elvis to stop making our espressos to get them ice! Elvis was cool and respectfully finished our order in spite of the noise of the woman cussing at us and him. our espresso was perfect, exactly as ordered milk and really fresh jelly doughnut. Grace under fire. 5 stars

Its awesome! here is my favoriate bakery, chocolate Parisian cake and chocolate double fudge are the best ever!!! They use Belgian chocolate that’s why the taste is so yummyyy & unique for chocolate lovers!

I can usually count on this bakery to have my wife’s favorite cake which many bakeries don’t make on the regular. This cake always looks amazing, soft smooth curves and tastes scrumptious with sweet berry filling. The Swedish Princess Cake is always great.

Love this place! I’ve been coming for years and buy their goodies for house warming parties, my own parties and or business. The ladies who work there are great and always smiling and eager to help. There’s great parking and easy access. Highly recommend it.

This used to be good. Why at 8:15 at night are they selling day old pastries. This is inside GELSON’S and for the price items should be fresh the same day.

This is by far the most underachieving bakery ever. I challenge anyone to post a picture of a full stock of bread in those perpetually empty baskets. Except for F’ing challah /​which seems be there at all times. The ONLY bread available.
Oh yeah and prices: $ 15/​lb for f’ing rugelach. Really?
Plus, bad attitude by the old canker soars.
Sick of this place. I puke in my mouth every time I walk into Gelsons looking at the cornucopia of aggressively mediocre (the stuff the actual make), at best, baked goods.
Oh and I’ve read some of the rave reviews. Please, all you people do is perpetuate crap food and alert the world to your tastelessness.

I use to be a frequent costumer and come into the bakery more than once a week. I recently purchased the most extravagant Hanukkah cake for a party & was told it was baked fresh that morning. It was a beautiful cake but tasted old and horrible! The rasberry filling tasted like bitter wine, the cake itself was dry and hard to swallow. My 2 year old spit it out and thats how I noticed how horrible it was. I went into the bakery to do some shopping at Gelsons and noticed the same cake was still being sold even after Hanuukah? Thats funny why they freshly bake a cake that morning when the holiday was over? I have called twice and no response yet.

I am in love with this bakery! The prices are a little higher than a typical bakery… But let’s be realistic, you get what you pay for and at viktor bene you are paying for quality and the best cakes and pastries.
I would consider myself a cake/​pastry connessuier since I have quite the sweet tooth, and I must say that viktor benes is one of my absolute favorite places for cakes and pastries. The have the best strawberry shortcake I have ever had, it’s so fluffy and perfectly ratioed with the cake and strawberries, I can never get enough, it is one of my favorite cakes they have! The Parisian chocolate and the silk and satin cake are also my favorites, always perfectly moist and sweet (my mouth is watering as I am envisioning these cakes!). The cookies and dry sweets are also beyond delicious and incomparable, if their prices were a little bit lower I would probably be here more frequently.

The cake we got was amazing! One of the best cakes I have ever eaten. It was my first time at the bakery but I am a long time customer of gelsons. The cake was very fresh and moist. My entire family really enjoyed it.

Best COOKIES ever! The staff is so friendly and they always greet people with a smile.
You can smell the bakery in the morning before you even walk in.
