China Doll Restaurant

the place is clean and the woman at the order counter is nice. some food is a little pricier than most places in binghamton, but it’s right on par with the chinese food place in the plaza by price chopper.
i’ve tried a bunch of food here, some a hit and some a miss. i like that this place has peanut chicken, i haven’t seen that on any other menus around the area. the sauce seemed a bit watered down but overall it was an enjoyable dish that i would order again. the ribs i had here were probably the meatiest chinese ribs that i’ve had, i would definitely order those again too. i didn’t really care for the fried wantons though, the wrapper was a little too thick and it didn’t have much texture, and not enough meat to stand up to the thick wrapper. the sweet and sour sauce with it was good though. and as another reviewer noted, the eggrolls here are small. they use the same wrap from the wantons on this and again it’s too thick and ruins the flavor and texture of it. the fried rice is ok, there’s a decent amount of pork in it but there’s also peas and carrots in it, which i’m not a fan of. i had the rice with an orange chicken lunch combo and the combo was mostly rice, china doll seems to give you less chicken than most other places do, and there wasn’t much sauce on it either. the sauce had a weird flavor to it too. the orange rinds that they included for the orange chicken were super burnt, so that may have been it. i may be down to try their sesame chicken sometime, but i wouldn’t go with the orange chicken again.
so when it comes down to it, yes i would go back, especially to try their buffet. not the best but depending on what you order you can get an enjoyable meal here.

A little more expensive than most places around here for Chinese food. The food quality was ok but not for the price.
If you order online, be sure to still call them to confirm they got it, otherwise you will show up there and wait an additional 20 minutes.
I was disappointed they didn’t have any duck available and then when the food was ready she «forgot» to give me the price difference back. (I had to order something else instead of duck which was cheaper).
The general tsos chicken was ok but not spicy at all. And the egg rolls are so skinny they look like spring rolls! It was weird because we were only supposed to get 3 egg rolls and they gave us 8. It’s like they were trying to just get rid of them! lol
Won’t be going back there.

Got the take out they told us 15 mins waited 20 mins showed up and had to wait an additional 30 mins, and the food was horrible even after the wait.

The number of items on the lunch buffet does not compete with the larger buffets in the area, but the taste is certainly better. (The food does seem to vary in taste depending on who’s doing the cooking and for awhile, the food was just not so good at all.) There are usually at least 3 or 4 chicken and several pork and shrimp selections at lunch and they are all quite tasty. Service is always friendly and quietly unobtrusive.
