Dr. Wong is super friendly and professional. Really appreciated the great service the staff provided. Being someone that breaks his glasses regularly I’m glad I found a great optometrist.

Dr. Wong and his staff are great. He took his time to perform my father’s eye exam following a cataract surgery. He thoroughly addressed all of our concerns. I felt bad because I hadn’t made an appointment, but Dr. Wong didn’t make us feel rushed; he answered all of our questions even though he had other patients after us. He made us feel comfortable and welcomed. He seems to genuinely care for patients.
The receptionist was also very nice. The whole staff seems friendly overall.
I would recommend this place to friends.

If you are looking for comfort, people you can trust, doctor and staff who know everything, great prices, great service, nice center, and satisfaction every visit… this is the place.

Been coming for the last 3 years. Dr. Wong and the staff are great. They are very capable, service oriented and answer any questions you have. Facilities are good, ample parking and have a good waiting/​sitting area. If you can’t find something in inventory, they can help order too. I recommend highly for adults and children.

I come to get glasses here all the way from NYC! I’ve been suffering and struggling with Eyeglasses for several years now going to different opticians, optometrists, ophtalmologists – the whole gamut. I went through different frames like hats not because I wanted to but b/​c I could not get specs that didn’t cause eye strain, fatigue, mood altering head tension – even weird feeling of being off-​balance.
Dr. Wong is great and has successfully identified and addressed the root cause which was my astigmatism being only in my right eye. He adjusted my prescription to be more accurate as what I had was too strong. I won’t get into all the details but Dr. Wong was very thorough and accurate in his assessment and care. He involved me in the process and considered all my feedback thoughtfully.
I’m bringing my whole family there now and it’s cost-​effective as the fees are less and decent compared to places in Manhattan I’ve been to.
As a healthcare professional myself, my vision is so important and when it comes to professional care it boils down to caring enough to spend the time and attention needed to solve sometimes difficult problems. Dr. Wong and his staff at Sylvan Family Eyecare have certainly done that for me and my family!

Super humble and technical experts. I came in injured and on crutches for an eye exam and to get glasses in a rush so I have them ready for my knee surgery. I met the dr outside and struggled over a step. He stopped and helped me until I made it in. He then sat me on the couch so I can relax before going in for the exam. His staff offered me help. The dr was so thorough with the exam and explained everything he was doing and the outcome in detail. Also, in the past most doctors have gotten my eye glass prescription wrong — this was the first time I didn’t have to return my glasses! His technician also made them for me on the spot knowing my time crunch and the assistant very patiently brought me over frames to try while on the couch and held the mirror in front of me so I wouldn’t be uncomfortable standing at the counter on crutches. She was insisted on showing me as many as I wanted never losing patience. She was truly happy to do this. She didn’t try to sell me on expensive frames for the sake of it. We agreed on every pair I tried on and wound up with the cheapest frames anyway without realizing. It was what looked best and not about pricing.
When I was ready to leave the dr went next door to the nail salon and check their back door entrance to see if their was a ramp instead of a step and asked them to let me use their backdoor so I can crutch on flat land.
Thoughtful, caring and good at what he does! Anyone going here will experience a compassionate and thorough experience.

After forgetting my glasses at home and having a killer headache because f this… I made an appt, was seen that very day by Dr. Wong. he was AWESOME… great «bedside manner» and the staff was welcoming and very friendly

I usually don’t care much for eye exams. Heck I don’t think anyone does, but I saw Dr. Wong and it was like were old friends catching up. The practice is very family friendly and I only heard about it through a friend was I was visiting the east coast. I needed a new supply of contacts on a trip and had an amazing experience here. Not only were the staff hospitable, but they were very educational as well. Dr. Wong provided a few recommendations on how to alleviate my eye strain in front of the computer and how I shouldn’t be wearing contact overnight because I’d was up a red eye monster. I can tell he held a high standard in terms of providing me knowledge of my own eye vs. the revolving door of other optical shops.
Overall, I give five star reviews because of the quality of care I received, the integrity of both the doctor and staff in educating me, and the extra education and attention that the doctor gave that I never usually get at a optometrist. Wonderful experience!

My entire family has been going to Dr Chung for more than a decade until he passed away a few years ago. We were hesitant to try the new staff, but didn’t know where else to go, so we finally just went about a year ago and saw Dr Wong, who turned out to be very friendly, helpful and patient. He really seemed to care about our needs and listened to all our concerns. We have had very good experiences with him and he even replaced a pair of glasses for free because they just could not be fitted well. That’s pretty impressive service in my book and I hope they stay in the neighborhood a long time to come.

I went to this eye glass store and visited the optometrist here a few months ago. The staff that helped with my eyeglass selection was patient with me as I looked at almost every pair of glasses in one section. I found them to be very polite as well. One staff person told me that for the type of glasses I picked, I should come back and get ear piece re-​adjusted in a month because they’ll need to be tightened. Thanks for the heads up!
My eye exam was smooth and quick. I came back to pick up my glasses and I was all set. I would come here again.

This was my first time seeing Dr. Wong at this practice. He was personable and very efficient. As far as the eyeglasses, they have a good selection of what you normally expect plus some cool brands that are harder to find. I ended up buying some great fitting frames from a Korean brand. Great family practice and would recommend to others.

This place is unnecessarily expensive compared to other places in the englewood area.
I needed a prescription for contact lenses. My vision plan gives you $ 150 to spend on contacts. This place wanted to take $ 100 from this stipend just to «fit» me for a contact lense. I said I dont need a fitting, just a prescription, I know what brand works for me. They said this is how they do the fees.
I left and called another place on Engle street instead. they said they dont do such a fee. I also went to Cohen’s optical a year ago and they did not do the fee. Don’t fall for it.

Let me tell you a story.
Prologue
Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved to read. He read every chance he got, even when he was supposed to be sleeping, he’d read with his flashlight under the covers – terribly cliché, but true. On long car rides, he’d pretend to be asleep in the back row of the minivan, but unbeknownst to his parents he would furtively slip out his current paperback from under the seat and read on his stomach, the book spread open in the darkened valley between the middle and back rows. Besides the poor lighting, the car would sway and bounce with the road, and up and down would go the words on the page. Unsurprisingly, he needed glasses by the second grade (though it could all be genetics – we can debate nature and nurture another day).
Chapter One
Thus began the yearly visits to the optometrist. He first wore glasses, then learned – painfully at first – to wear contacts in junior high. He became adept at opening his eye wide and putting his finger right up to his pupil. This boy became me. And nearly twenty years later, I still go to the optometrist.
Chapter Two
However, I moved to New Jersey from California, and was in need of a new optometrist. Not only that, my last optometrist, who I had seen for several years had left me a little dissatisfied. My contacts would at times become unfocused throughout the day. My last optometrist gave me a new brand to hopefully fit the shape of my eye better, but the problem persisted.
Chapter Three
Through word-​of-​mouth I heard of Dr. Wong and decided to go see him. When I set foot inside Sylvan Family Eyecare, I found a well-​kept, clean, and warm environment. The staff was friendly and helpful from the beginning, and though I didn’t need new frames at the time, there was a great selection of brands in eye-​pleasing displays.
After I filled out all the paperwork, Dr. Wong came and greeted me. He was extremely patient, kind, and professional. He listened carefully as I explained to him in detail the problems I had been having with my contacts, and he discovered my previous prescription had been correcting for astigmatism in my right eye when it was unnecessary. He was also able to fit me with a pair of contacts that have eliminated the blurriness that would strike throughout the day. I realize now that being able to see comfortably should not be taken for granted, but requires a knowledgeable and top-​notch optometrist, such as Dr. Wong. Accept no substitutes!
Chapter Four
Dr. Wong truly goes above and beyond in his customer service as well. I actually bought a pair of glasses (because I had a gift card) from an online vendor, but they seemed a little off, objects at distance seemed distorted. I mentioned this to Dr. Wong, and he invited me in, did a quick exam and had my glasses adjusted, all free of charge! I didn’t even buy my glasses from him, so I felt extremely thankful. He’s truly about the patient and not making a quick buck. I never felt rushed during my exam nor did he try to upsell me anything. Dr. Wong is all about eyeCARE, come see this guy already!
Epilogue
If what I said wasn’t incentive enough, permit me this. Though I generally enjoy going to the optometrist, there is one thing I dread – The Puffer. You know what I’m talking about. Oh, it looks innocuous enough. A funny-​looking device with a chinrest and a pinhole, usually colored in white or beige to make you forget it’s about to torture you with fear. The actual puff isn’t all that bad, but if you’re Asian with smallish eyes (stereotypical, but true) like me or just have smaller eyes, tell me this doesn’t sound familiar.
Assistant: «Ok, rest your chin here.»
Me: «Ok.»
Assistant: «Now open your eyes wide.»
Me: «Ok.»
Assistant: «You need to open your eyes a little wider.»
Me: «Ok.» Are you serious?
Assistant: «A little wider.»
Me: «Ok.» This is as wide as they go lady!
Assistant: «Can’t they go any wider?»
[Silence]
Me: You have just insulted me and my heritage. «No.»
[Trembling in anticipatory fear]
PUFF!
Me: «Aaaugghhh!»
Assistant: «Ok, now the other one.»
When I walked into Dr. Wong’s office, I saw The Puffer squatting evilly among its compatriots, and shiver of fear ran down my spine. And as we did the preliminary exams, I knew The Puffer was next. Please God, no. «Um, this one next?» I pointed to my nemesis.
«Actually, we don’t use it.»
WHAT? Please be true, please be true.
«We use this eyedrop technique instead.»
Shock. Awe. Hallelujah!
«I love y – errr, ok great.»
I rest my case. See Dr. Wong for all your eye needs.

As the son of Dr. Myong I. Chung, my relationship with this optometrist office and eyewear store is complicated. I hadn’t visited any office for a checkup since my father passed away and I only stopped by to pickup contacts.
After many years, I was finally ready to go get my checkup and was more than pleased to have been welcomed by a very kind and capable helper. After having found and organized my documents I was very thoroughly evaluated by a very warm Dr. Wong. He puts the «family» right into this eyeglass store and I can tell he treats his customers right. I’m glad my father’s store is in the right hands. Good luck.

Solid service. Performed eye exams I’ve never experienced at my other Eyecare center and found out some new facts about my eyes. Glasses/​shades vary in price range so both the low end and high end consumer will find something. Fairly quick staff, informative.

Make sure you ask for Dr. Wong. Whether you’re Korean, Chinese or American, the entire staff here is bilingual. Dr. Wong does a very thorough job and you can really tell he cares. The staff was very patient with me as I tried on over 30 pairs of glasses, giving me fashion advice on the latest trends. All in all a great experience.

This office was actually formerly Dr. Myoung I. Chung’s office. Unfortunately, he passed away a few years ago and these new folks took over. I’m always iffy about new people taking over something I’ve always known, but I have to say I had a good experience with the takeover. The doctor is very friendly and was sensitive to my needs. Maybe I’m biased because he gave me 3 months worth of contacts for free and gave me a huge discount… haha Maaaybe. Friendly, neighborhood feeling– I recommend.
