Auto lab was fantastic from the minute they picked up the phone to the minute I drove my car home. Very competent mechanics who know their trade and do not try and stack up your bill with unnecessary add ons. Quickly identify the problem and fix it. I have a Mercedes Benz which are not the easiest cars to work on but auto lab did an outstanding job.

Dave and gang are great! Have used them for years. I rolled in over memorial day because I was a quart low on oil and didn’t know what oil they had been using for my oil changes. Dave topped it off for no charge. They really care about doing things right and not over charging for unnecessary work.

I had a totally different experience than other reviewers. My hunch is: friends of owners.
We tried to use them for our business. Our fleet of 5 vans.
Twice the message wasn’t communicated from phone and person who dropped off and they didn’t even know where the van came from (they turned around and blamed us)
Another time they fixed one thing but not the other. Again a communication problem on their end.
Finally the straw that broke the camel’s back. They offered the possibility of a loaner van. When I asked about it while we had a van in (busiest business day for us of the year) and needed an alternative, we were told they just needed to empty it out and it would be ready before noon. Call 1:00 because we NEED it. Told the guy is «at lunch».
Later I got chewed out by the owner for trying to manipulate the employee. The loaner was OFFERED to me.
I literally have never in my life had a worse experience with a business. Never have I felt so humiliated by a business owner. I couldn’t say worse things about these losers.

I will never return to AUTO LAB on South Broadway, not even to enforce the 36,000 mile warranty on the work that I have had done there. I stopped in yesterday because my Volvo was overheating with the gauge near the red zone. The guy at the front desk, either Wyatt or Wylie with a shaved head, was a smart aleck. He denied having discussed my Check Engine button that I had reported when my car was towed to them in January this year for $ 1,800′ worth of repairs. Wyatt/​Wylie also claimed that he would not have checked the Check Engine light because that would have been a «fee». I paid $ 1,800 for the repairs, so another couple bucks for an accurate diagnosis would not have been an issue. The man also claims to have no memory of the fact that he said in January that the tech had checked the Check Engline light, but they would have to «look up» the code and had not done it. Prior to January, I was happy with the service and the customer service of another front desk guy on 8÷31÷2015. Wyatt/​Wylie tried embarrass me yesterday in a full waiting area by referring to the damage I had done to the roof of the rental car in January when the unlit north parking lot entrance had the chain pulled across it while the business lights were still on and one or more overhead doors were open close to closing time. In January of this year, Auto Lab kept my car for a full seven (7) days, and had set my pickup days three times. I was driving two hours at Rush Hour from I-​76 east to get to Auto Lab by 6pm to pick up the car, but on that Monday it was not ready; on Tuesday, Wyatt/​Wylie phoned me when I was just three blocks away to tell me it was still not ready; on Wednesday evening it finally was ready for pickup. AUTO LAB is not reliable, not well-​organized, and after radiator work and a complete oil leak repair totaling circa $ 1,000, my Volvo is leaking oil. I am the customer who will never return, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

As a woman walking into an auto repair shop, I’m acutely aware that I’m susceptible to any number of scams, up-​selling techniques, and price gouging. This was not the case at all when I came into Autolab.
Immediately upon my entrance into the waiting area, I watched an Autolab staff person with immense patience listen to an elderly customer who spoke at length regarding an issue he was having with a different repair shop in town. The Autolab employee attended to this elderly customer intently and politely. I truly don’t remember the last time that I witnessed this level of customer service at any establishment.
When it came time for them to service my vehicle, I was provided with a detailed explanation of the problem (it turned out to be a quick & cheap fix) and I was blown away by how friendly, efficient, and honest they were. I was in and out in less than 2 hours (without an appointment, mind you) and the repair cost me $ 42.
I’ve already recommended this business to a friend who was looking for a mechanic and the next time my vehicle needs servicing, I absolutely plan to return to Autolab.

Honest, professional, and very clean facility. They took the time to show me what was wrong with my car. Plus, I saved about $ 150 by going to Autolab and received better service!

Terrific place to have your car fixed. I dropped my car off in the recent snowstorm and they drove me to work. Car needed a lot of work and they got it done the same day.

My wife and I recently moved to Englewood and we’re lucky to have found Autolab. We had concerns over our brake system, our car seemed harder to stop than normal, even though the brake pads were ok. Wiley set up an appt. for us, and after the inspection walked me through the potential fixes for our brakes. Instead of suggesting an expensive brake pad/​rotor replacement, he suggested that we deglaze the front pads and rotors. This was an easy and far less expensive fix! Since then the brakes have worked well, and we’re happy to have found a trustworthy mechanic. We’ll be using Autolab’s services from now on.

I’ve had a few of my cars in here over the years and have always had an amazing experience. They are all friendly and their pricing is reasonable and competitive.

Our first visit to AutoLab, surprised on the detail inspection they do and send proof on what needs immediate attention and what they checked and was found good. Along with pictures. Great place.

Auto lab has been my exclusive mechanic for the several vehicles I have own/​owned over the last 3 years, including a Subaru Outback, a BMW X5, and a Porsche boxster. Their coupon deals are excellent (it’s the reason I visited them in the first place) and based off of my experience their business model appears to be built upon HONESTY. Honesty is the rarest thing to happen upon in a world full of unscrupulous dealerships and third rate mechanic chains.
Bring your vehicle to Autolab the next time it is in need of service and support a local business that truly cares about their reputation.

Wonderful Experience at Autolab! I may fall into the category of «bad car mom» and was most certainly due for an oil change. It had also been a hot minute since I had an alignment. I found Autolab via Unilocal and went to check them out. Sherman greeted me when I walked in with a huge smile. He was super friendly! I explained that I was way overdue for an oil change and probably needed an alignment as well… and some new wiper blades! He asked a couple of questions about why I wanted an alignment (are you having any issues with steering, is the car pulling, etc.) which made me feel like he didn’t want to complete a service I didn’t need. I said no, not really, but that it had been a good while since I got one. He let me know that they would check things out once they got my car lifted and see if I actually needed one. Sherman gave me a quote, I walked down to Starbucks for a few hours while they worked on my car and came back.
Turns out my front left strut needed to be replaced. This didn’t surprise me. The car is almost 10 years old and has over 130,000 miles on it. I didn’t have time to get it done that day, so I got a quote and scheduled the service for the following week. I dropped off my car at 7am, they gave me a ride back home (just a couple of miles away), completed the work, called me a few hours later when it was ready, and came and picked me up! When I went to pay, the total was a little more than was quoted, I inquired with the gentleman at the desk and he said it included an alignment. Well, I literally just had an alignment done the week before, so they waived that and the total price was exactly what was quoted!
Everyone in the shop was super friendly and personable… even the shop pup! Big thank you to Sherman for taking care of my ride!

I have a 1998 Honda with 220,000 miles. Auto lab is helping me make it to 300,000, maybe more! I worked with Austin. He was very accommodating of my schedule and did a wonderful job of explaining things thoroughly. Auto lab is a family run local business and they have earned my loyalty.

I have a lot of trepidation when it comes to mechanics, as I’ve been lied to and treated like an idiot way too many times. Part of it is my fault because I have no idea about cars and they might as well be speaking french to me, but I’ve learned my lesson the hard way enough times to know when I smell bullshit.
SO, I found this place on here and figured I’d give them a shot with an oil change and some brakes repairs. Since I’ve been screwed before, whenever someone gives me the total damage on what to get fixed, I always ask what the biggest priority is to repair. Straight up, Sherman told me what I could wait on and what would leave me with a smoking engine on the highway in 3 months.
However, I didn’t anticipate the repairs taking so long, and right away Sherman said he could have someone from the shop give me a ride home. When the car was done, he had someone pick me up. I’ve never had any car shop do that for me. It’s small, but it went a long way in making my day more convenient.
I’ll definitely be comin’ back here!

Very unprofessional place! The owner STOLE money from me by overcharging me for work they didn’t do to my car. I have receipts for what I paid. (I’ve recorded conversations where his employees lie about sending a refund check to my address.) BMW had to finish the work they didn’t do but charged me for. (Cigarette lighter sensor, etc) Currently suing the owner. I have proof from vehicle inspectors that the owner up charged me on a transfer case costing me $ 3400 when all I needed was an oil transfer case change. Bmw fixed the issue and gave proof of the root cause. I have a video of the owner trying to hit me with a car! The door hit me, it didn’t hurt me or cause any real damage but it shows how nasty he is. He also called me a typical black man! Whatever that means? I have also filed a report with better business bureau and I have police witnesses that are coming with me to court.
Auto Lab also refused to reimburse me for my rental car when Jason screwed up my repair. He gave me the hardest time because I complained about their lack of service and communication. He told me that the car would be ready by the end of the day, I caught a taxi there and the car wasn’t ready. That was a $ 40 trip that I wasted all because they forgot to call me. I would not recommend anyone taking their vehicle to auto lab. Jason has no respect for African American people. Allyson K my lawyer is using your post for our trial! I had key cylinder replaced. They charged me 212 dollars for part that at o’riellys is 45. I asked them why they quadrupled the price, response, we only use toyota certified. Labor 175. I youtubed the labor, took ten minutes, they said they had to take the dash apart. I didnt know that it was that easy a job. This place is a rip off. Won’t ever go to this place or ever recomend. On top of that they said i should get my sparkplugs changed for 300 dollars. Yeah, right.
The owner called me back, total jerk. No customer service skills, pinned the bill to me because i authorized it. He only talked about how great his mechanics are and that everyone else sucks. What a great deal, i have a car worth 1600 bucks and his reply is i have a part with a 3 year warrany. How about giving me an option, you want the 212 dollar part with a 3 year warranty or the 45 dollar part with no warranty for your 20 year old car?
Its called customer service not customer rip off!

Despite the positive Unilocal reviews, I would take my car elsewhere.
Horrible and surreal experience. I initially spoke to Jason (owner) over the phone and he assured me that converting my 1993 E-​150 Ford Econoline van AC from R-​24 would be easy and inexpensive. Told me to just bring the van in that day, and he would have it converted that same day. Never received a call that day. The next day I called the shop and was connected to a tech who proceeded to list a number of repairs that my van «needed» (radiator repair, new brakes etc…) before even talking to me about the air conditioning. I finally cut him off and asked about the AC and he said it would cost around $ 500. Asked to speak to Jason and he agreed to do the conversion for $ 200.
A short time later, I received a call from the tech and he informed me that the neck for the AC port had broken off and now the job would be $ 500. «How could that happen,» I asked. Old car and corroded parts, he responded. Uh huh… Well, I drove to the shop and examined the part and it appeared to me that it was a clean snap, showing no sign of wear or corrosion. I later showed the part to my regular mechanic (who doesn’t do ac conversions) and he confirmed my suspicions that Autolab was probably responsible and that the shop should have absorbed the cost of new parts or at least made some concessions.
Anyway, drove away as quickly as possible from Autolab and will never return. Don’t be fooled by ads showing smiling mechanics kissing babies.

Recently visited this shop for a second opinion on an engine issue and was given a grave answer for my car. After taking it to another shop, I found out that the issue wasn’t what they said it was and I would have spent thousands of dollars to have something fixed that didn’t necessarily need it. I’m rating them a 3 stars because the shop seems like it could be legit but I wasn’t overly impressed with my experience.
UPDATE: Jason personally called me to talk through what he could do to help me and help his shop do better business which is great customer service and shows integrity. Thanks!

This place is awesome! I’m always a huge fan of supporting a locally owned business, but this place went above and beyond. The owner and staff were very friendly, attentive and professional. They answered all my questions, and were very clear in explaining what issues my car had. No aggressive pushing for extra parts or services like you find at Jiffy Lube, Grease Monkey, etc.
While I used a coupon to just get a oil change, this will be my new go to spot for automotive repairs. I’m totally going back and recommend you do as well!
