Fireside Books and Coffee

I really enjoy coming to Fireside Books and Coffee. Starbucks is just not a pleasant enough atmosphere for me. I was hunting for a place like this to study at from time to time. I definitely found my new study spot.
This cute little coffee shop is quiet, clean and super cozy. Complete with a roaring fire and comfortable chairs, Fireside is perfect for a rainy afternoon. I have bought several used books from them and also donated a few. Their coffee is very good, I have had several of their specialty drinks as well as just a hot cup of coffee. Their baked goods are delicious as well, I had a lovely frosted panetone today.
As far as WiFi goes, Fireside is pretty good. I have never had any problems with it and there are always plenty of outlets available. The password is printed on the bottom portion of the receipt, so don’t throw it away! I will definitely continue to frequent Fireside and I recommend to anyone who loves books and coffee.

Love this place, have a business down the road and try to make it in frequently. Always nice people who work there and they have the worlds best Americano… cookies are good but what I recently discovered was the tomato soup and grilled cheese.

Great coffee shop. Only downside is really bad internet. Ideal place to go read and hang out. They have comfy chairs and lots of outlets in the seating section.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is lovely and I will certainly be back!

Met a girl for coffee here, figured it would be a neat little spot to get to know someone better. As you walk in the door, the smell of paper books sweeps over you. It’s a very quaint little spot, with books tucked away in every possible corner.
The fire place area is welcoming with a pile of board games underneath the coffee table. The parking is scarce, and I feel like the category’s off books could be labeled somewhat better. Other than that, it’s a fun little place.

This place is great! Makes me want to write something. And the espresso is delicious! Great calming atmosphere. If you like used books this is the place for you! Win!

Fireside Books and Coffee, was a great combination of a coffee shop and bookstore. What’s awesome about the place is that they also have coconut and almond milk options for your drink. There were also some good deals on some used books as well. I usually just use books to go on my nonexistent coffee table as I prefer reading on my kindle more than anything. That being said I did find a lot of books that I would have been willing to purchase, if my luggage wasn’t already full at the time.

A cozy place with great deals on plenty of books! I spent an evening here just exploring around and admiring the typewriters as well as the vintage bound books. Hilarious signs hanging around the bookstore too.
Not too big of a place, but definitely a quiet place perfect for getting lots of work done. I haven’t tried anything on their menu, but I’ve heard great things about the coffee. Certainly going to give it a try the next time I am here.
The book vending machine is an awesome touch.

I had the mocha coffee blend, tasted great, and this place has a cozy atmosphere, if you happen to get seats by the fireplace. I wouldn’t come here to socialize, I think my girlfriend put it best by saying it’s a place to get work done. Parking is a different story though…

I love this place! It is a few miles away from where I live, and easily accessible by bus. I had no idea about it until last year when I was researching coffee shops in my neighborhood. There really isn’t very many on N or S Broadway besides Starbucks, and I was looking for something that didn’t have a corporate feel to it.
When I found this place, I fell in love with the atmosphere! It has books scattered everywhere, above the inviting fireplace by the big cushy chairs, and on most of the walls. It even has a fantastic collection of strange and rare books, like for example, an old book on the history of sex and marriage traditions. The books are a bit pricey in my opinion, but it doesn’t diminish from the experience. The employees are fantastic and very friendly, and the prices of drinks are average.
All in all, this is my favorite place to play cards with a friend, or read books in a corner by myself. Definitely highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place to have philosophical conversations with a friend for hours, or just looking to get your homework done. It beats Starbucks any day.

I went down to listen to a friend of mine’s band (Atomic Pablo) play here and I liked the place quite a lot. Kinda has that old school used bookstore feel to it but a lot less dusty and with better coffee. They have a LOT of books in here and the two young people manning the store were very pleasant. I saw a couple titles on the shelve near where I sat that looked interesting so the next time I’m down this way I’ll have to plan a longer visit.

I’m glad they put Books first in their name, because that’s primarily what it is. A bookstore with a coffee shop. You will get lost in the bookshelves, so start with coffee to power your way through and find your way out. The coffee is good, and they didn’t burn the soymilk. We sat in these huge leather chairs in front of the fireplace and actually got too warm sitting there. The music is a little loud, but not bad.

This place is literal. Pun intended. If you want to have coffee around 10:30pm this is joint to visit. The Fireplace and amount of books make you feel cozy. If it wasn’t for time constraints I think would have slept there. Its that awesome.

Seems like bookbars are cropping up everywhere these days. Books are becoming quite a novelty now that everything has been going digital so it’s refreshing to see the love of the printed page being preserved and fostering homes for old unwanted books to be treasured by those who still truly appreciate them. Coupled with the popular love for drinking coffee, you have the two most essential ingredients for success.
Fireside Books and Coffee has those two essential ingredients. Their name says it. They have coffee and books AND you can enjoy them both from the relaxing comfort of sitting in front of a warm fireplace. It’s like making yourself feel right at home in your own living room. Next to the cozy fireplace and couches there is a beautiful antique Grand Piano and on occasion have live performances. There are wooden shelves of books all nicely arranged around the store to browse while you sip. You never know just what you will find. I found a couple of collectible hardcovers for a steal in very nice condition. Some of their prices though are erratic. I also found some early edition paperbacks in very worn condition that were overpriced. I get that they are early printings but a quick scan on eBay and I could find them for much less. Your prices may vary. It’s still fun to browse and enjoy a warm drink to the ambiance of classical music. Fireside creates a warm, welcoming and stimulating intellectual environment.
The coffee itself was very good and the employees are extremely polite, pleasant and helpful. They continue to receive totes full of used books regularly so their book inventory is constantly refreshed. You’ll definitely want to make it a regular coffee stop for discovering old paperback treasures. And for the love of books they even have a book vending machine filled with vintage pulp fiction called a «Readporter» that is even better than Redbox! Books are the ultimate Time Machine that take you back to when it was originally published and are filled with sentimental nostalgia and history. Their beautifully illustrated artistic covers, the feel and smell of the paper, just can’t be duplicated digitally by a virtual e-​book. For that reason alone, I will continue to support and cherish physical books and businesses that cherish them too like Fireside Books and Coffee.

Nice place, pretty quiet. Okay coffee, and LOTS of books. Didn’t feel real comfortable there, but will probably return to look more. So much to see.

To keep it short & sweet, the Fireside is a little oasis of books, good music, and an old-​time bookstore atmosphere that is always being expanded and renovated with love by the owner and staff. Open from very early to very late, it’s an equally great place to study, book-​browse, or take a friend for a relaxed chat. Coffee, drinks and pastries are very good. The enthusiasm is infectious. There really is a Fireside!
I wish this place open and thriving for years to come.

Looks like they have some new management, or at least new faces.
Great place. Such a cool environment, incredibly unique. I enjoy coming here for a quiet place to work.
Lots of rare books as well as a decent collection of current books.
I enjoy the coffee, but they recently changed it to a brand I don’t enjoy as much as the old, but it’s definitely not bad.
Fast internet which is really nice for working.
I really like this place, and there’s a reason it’s my go-​to spot when I have a lunch work session.

A beautifully bizarre bookstore, with all sorts of crap stacked in all sorts of insane patterns in every corner of the store. I’m staring at an ugly, overcrammed display of books as I write this. The funny part? Most of the books are either anti-​Obama diatribes or New Age philosophy books… on the same shelf. WTF?
The coffee is hideous (cold and crappy, presumably brewed only once a day), and the suit-​clad owner/​barista is farting loudly right now. About every five minutes, he lets another juicy one rip. Like, I’m not sure that I understand how his suit pants are still intact.
But hey, there aren’t many «real» bookstores left in the world. This place is still pretty amazing, and some pants-​splitting coffee farts are a small price to pay for old-​school bookstore awesomeness.

This is another embarrassing review of «I had no idea this place existed.» I really like bookstores, but for some reason, haven’t had the knack of finding them lately, until yesterday, when I happened to be driving by and stopped in.
I don’t know why, but I immediately had a case of the giggles the moment I read the sign that said, «If you want to steal books, please see the owner.» I wish they had signs that like hidden all over the place; it gave me such a great idea for a story…
Back to the bookstore. This is one of those places that is overwhelmed with its own stock. I loved places like this in high school and college and would spend hours going through every nook and cranny. People who are neat freaks and/​or obsessive compulsive go crazy in places like this; I’ve been with people who get so overwhelmed they have to leave.
Not me! I still like a good bookstore like this, but I’ll admit, I just don’t have the patience at times to go through stuff to find what I want. Another oddity: my childhood favorites, the Anne of Green Gables series, was stuffed in the middle of… Romance? I can see that, as I desperately wanted Gilbert and Anne together, but… really?
I didn’t have any coffee here, so I can’t speak to that, but I certainly spent time looking at cookbooks, novels and a hefty how-​to-​write section, which would be my recommendation to check out for those who are looking for great used books on how that writing thing is done.
I’ll go back and check it out further; it takes a couple of tries and a book purchase for me to truly 5 star a bookstore; I’m a harsh bookstore critic.

I reached for my extra shirt off the back of the car seat and let the door slam shut. .. with my purse and the car keys on the front seat! We were locked out. .. with both phones still in the car.
A friend had recommended Fireside. We were just stopping for a coffee and to check out the books. .. I do so love books! And coffee.
We walked in and explained to the owner our predicament. Keys in car, no phones. He handed us his phone and told us to make ourselves at home. After arranging to have a friend pick up the spare key at home, we settled down to have a drink (my friend had a cc in her pocket) and to check out the books.
The room was filled with comfortable seating areas, small tables with fresh flowers, and a few folks with laptops. The walls were lined from ceiling to floor with thousands of books. Used books. It was quiet and so comfortable. Perfect place to read. We sat for an hour or so, quietly chatting, drinking coffee, looking at books and waiting for rescue. We took turns wandering the shelves and discovered there was a «back room» with rows & rows of more books. It was a literary paradise of books.
A few customers had overheard our predicament and came to give us their condolences and helpful advice, but we waited for our knight in shining «pick-​up truck» to arrive. He did, several hours later with key in hand.
We purchased a «few» books. .. even one that I’d been searching the 2^nd hand stores for for weeks. We thanked the kind owner and promised to be back again. After I recover from feeling like an idiot from locking my keys in the car, I will go back.
Fireside is open 24 hrs, has WiFi, coffee, tea and snacks, millions of books, and an owner who treats his customers with respect. Oh, yeah, there is a fireplace too. Winter reading should be warm & cozy.
