The Dynamic Foot

After having seen an acupuncturist, a podiatrist, and a chiropractor, I finally found Dr. Chanin. Save yourself some money, time and pain and see him first. The the other reviews detail how thorough he is to be sure your orthotics fit you perfectly. All true. He also taught me how to stretch my foot. After months of discomfort and pain and a compromised life, I am now pain free. He’s worth it. Go.

Suffering from plantar fasciitis, I went to see a podiatrist, got shock wave therapy on my foot, bought new shoes, tried off the shelf inserts, but it wasn’t until I got orthotics from dr. Chanin that I really felt I was not damaging my feet anymore. He spends a long time evaluating your feet and creating the orthotics and then making sure that they work for you. And he does all that at a very reasonable price. Now I use them in all of my shoes and I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend dr. Chanin.

Doctor Tom works miracles. Don’t underestimate the value of feet. See this guy. Pay him his money and thank him. Rarely will you feel as good about an expenditure. This guy cares.

Doctor Tom should be on your short list of people to talk to if you’re serious about quality orthotics. There’s a very high level of patient engagement as he works with you from scheduling your initial appointment all the way to following up post visit.
After scheduling your appointment, he’ll tell you bring in several pairs of shoes. This is important as he wants to see the types of shoes you wear throughout the week, not just the ones you happen to have on your feet when you come in. I learned that several of my favorite pairs of casual shoes were not offering nearly enough lateral support and consequently stressing my foot unnecessarily.
Before you even get to the orthotics, there’s a consultation session where he works with you on areas of pain, discomfort, stress, etc. as well as doing a gait analysis.
A point of difference I found was that instead of standing on a pressure sensor to gather the profile data, he brings the mold up to your foot while you sit down. The explanation is that if you’re standing on a pad or sensor, your arch is already deforming while the measurements are being taken. You want the mold to match your resting arch.
What I found to be interesting about his process though is the molding and shaping is all done onsite in real time. There’s no sending away to far off factory to wait several weeks, you can be in and out within a few hours. Also nice, is that it’s an iterative process. You’ll try on your new orthotics, walk around in them for a few minutes, and talk about what you’re feeling. Doctor Tom can make the adjustments for you right there either adding material, removing material, or whatever other voodoo goes on in the back.

Dr. Chanin has turned around my mobility and my fitness level to a spectacular degree. Seven years ago, I blew out my foot running. For two years, I was in constant pain while walking, and running was out of the question. My health was suffering, in a big way. A quick visit to Dr. Tom, and I was running again! Dr. Tom Chanin is remarkable and a great pleasure to deal with. I first visited him years ago at the advice of my podiatrist. During my first visit with him he made a pair of orthotics that immediately fixed a foot problem that I had been suffering from for years.
Following recent hip surgery, my right leg was more than an inch longer than my left. I was sure that I would have to wear a special shoe to avoid severe back problems from the leg length discrepancy. Dr. Tom was able to build up my left orthotic to correct the problem. One hour in his office and as good as new. Dr. Chanin is the best!!!
