Best Buy has given me the worst taste in my mouth. Please if you’re going to buy a laptop from them be aware that if you experience technical difficulties they do not stand behind the products they sell. Here are the slew of issues I’ve had with four laptops I’ve purchased. I now went to the Best Buy Manalapan and was willing to buy the same laptop, as an exhchange, but they wouldn’t honor the original price I paid, because I had returned the laptop to another location, and not there’s. Keep in mind they didn’t have the laptop at the original location I returned it last night, so I went to Manalapan, and they expect me to pay $ 150MORE for the laptop I returned last night because I didn’t have the coupon which was on the original receipt.

Terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. Preordered an iPhone 6s Plus three weeks ago and STILL haven’t been contacted to pick it up. The store received the phones and sold out, but the people who preordered it are apparently suckers who now have no phone and can’t get a refund. After contacting customer support, no sympathy was expressed. The people who work at this location are always friendly and helpful, but the people who run things are not.

I recently purchased a Droid Turbo phone in the new Best Buy exclusive(blue) color. The device is also exclusive to Verizon Wireless. The Droid Turbo is advertised by both the manufacturer(Motorola) and Verizon Wireless as including one complimentary replacement of a damaged screen under what both call the«Screen Assurance» program. I dropped the phone less than 6 inches onto my counter top and the screen of my 13 day old device shattered. I contacted Best Buy and attempted to submit a claim through Geek Squad insurance. I was told by the store that the Droid Turbo comes with one free replacement and that I should contact Verizon Wireless to file the claim. This set in motion a 6 hour ordeal in which Verizon Wireless, Motorola and Best Buy all pointed the finger at each other while each stating they would not honor the policy. After the 6 hours, the bottom line is that Best Buy states it is an advertised feature of Motorola that uses Verizon Wireless as the agent to receive damaged devices and distribute replacement devices. Best Buy also stated that there is no way to get their blue device replaced without filing a Geek Squad claim and paying a $ 149 deductible. They informed that Verizon would only replace with a black device. Verizon, meanwhile stated that had I purchased any color other than blue, they would happily provide the free replacement. However, since Best Buy circumvents thew carrier on all of their«exclusive» blue phones, Verizon cannot not accept them(even if I was willing to accept a black replacement). They stated that Best Buy should be the one honoring the Motorola policy on best buy exclusive devices just as Verizon honors all non-Best Buy-exclusive devices. VERIZONALSOSTATEDTHATTHISEXCEPTIONISWIDELYKNOWNTOVERIZONANDMOTOROLA, DESPITENOTINFORMINGTHEENDCUSTOMERPRIORTOPURCHASE. Lastly, I spoke to Motorola who stated that the«screen assurance» is not, in fact, their policy at all, but rather Verizon’s. They stated only Verizon or Best Buy can fulfill the replacement. They also said they did in fact have blue devices available and can replace my broken device for a $ 125 charge. Ultimately I was told that the only reason the policy would not be honored is because I bought the«Best Buy exclusive color» and that had I simply purchased any other color from Best Buy or any other retailer, the policy would be honored. Best Buy does not provide any information at point of sale to inform the customer of this odd exclusion. More importantly, Motorola’s website advertises the benefit(without exclusion) and redirects to a Verizon Wireless web page with a program FAQ and instructions for filing a claim. The program FAQ also states no exclusions of any specifically colored device. I feel this is false advertisement that caused me to purchase a device where known restrictions were not provided to the consumer. Note: I have the screen shots captured from each company’s websites as proof that(as of today) this misleading advertising is still in place. I even offered(as a last effort) for Verizon to simply credit me $ 125 to offset the cost of replacing the device directly from Motorola. I assumed Verizon would provide such credit(amounting to less than one month’s bill) as a gesture of good will to an over 20 year customer. My request was denied.

Well I dragged here late on black Friday and things don’t change. Since the rush was over we browsed the lap tops & tablets. All we heard sorry we are out of that Did I ask availability? How about what model is this(half the tags are missing from display models) Note to best buy most financial reports say you guys are close to filing BK it’s not consumers fault your associates are clueless to product knowledge, buh bye

This store is always an adventure. Getting help immediately gets the Mission Impossible theme playing in your head. Then, there’s the fact that the odds are that whoever you have a question for will not really have a clue what they are talking about! Take for example, this past Saturday when I went there with plans to purchase a Sonos speaker system. I found someone who claimed they were very familiar with it. At one point, he told me to use the Play5 model, I needed a bridge AND a connect. Well, I knew about needing the bridge and just so happened that the special was, buy a Play 5 and get the bridge free. It is normally 50 bucks. But when he threw the Connect into the equation for an additional 350 bucks, I said forget about it! Put it down and left very dissappointed. When I went home, I was trying to get more info online about it and trying to come up with an alternative option for less money. I decided on another option, but I thought to go to the Howell store and talk to someone there about it. Guy was very helpful and actually seemed to know what he was talking about! Best of all, he told me I did not need the Connect to use the Play 5, only the bridge. A very happy man left that Best Buy today with the item he wanted but alas, cost me another 50 bucks because the promotion for the free bridge was over… thanks to the numb nut at the Manalapan store! This store is always a mess and very unorganized!!! Knowledgable help is rarer than gold bars on rt 9! Do yourself a favor and drive the few extra miles to the Howell store where your odds are a lot better!

As I said in my review of Modells I came here because I usually do both stores at the same time regardless of my needs. Can’t say I have much love for Best Buy any longer as the majority of the store is now a cell phone/television store. I used to love to come into a Best Buy and just check out the excess of electronics they were carrying. I understand that they are trying to downsize all that junk but the store has lost it’s attraction. They also offer warranties like crazy on everything you buy. Yet to buy batteries here but I would likely lose it if they offered me a warranty! Regardless of the policies of this place this location has a decent staff and is always neat and clean. Can’t knock Best Buy either for the amount of Blu-Rays they carry and sometimes they have really good sales that match the online stores. It’s always worth a look in this place to see if you can find some good deals. Guess that’s why I keep stopping in. Thanks!

I am not the biggest fan of Best Buy, but there is something about this store that makes you want to go back. It is definitely not the ambience, because they lack it. I had a very good discussion with one of the employees from the TV department. He knew everything about everything and I mean everything. I told him that I was shocked that he was not an average Best Buy employee and he mentioned that he had many years of experience through some sort of communications job on Broadway or something like that. Anyway, I do not know what it is worth, but no beef with this store at this time.
