A Lov-In Touch Pet Chalet & Spaw

We have been bringing our German Shepherd, Roland, here anytime we go out of town since 2012. He is a sensitive fella and it takes him awhile to warm to new things. He can be a bit shy and anxious at first. Well, now he leaps out of the car and runs up to the gate and greets the staff with a wagging tail. (This is pretty high praise from a German Shepherd.) He goes with them with no protest when it’s time to say goodbye. When we pick him up, he’s always exhausted and we know he had a good time because the staff gives me updates. We very much trust this place and wouldn’t take him anywhere else.

I have been bringing my dog (ODIN) here almost everyday for over a year now. If I did not think this was a good place I would have stopped taking my dog here a long time ago.
When Odin gets dropped off he seems very happy to be there and when I pick him up he is exhausted from a day of playing with the other dogs.
I cannot say enough positive things about this place and their staff. I would strongly recommend if you cannot take your dog to work or on vacation, you take them here.

I’m a dog trainer, so, when it comes to boarding my pups, I’m fairly picky. I also have 3 big dogs, so, boarding can get expensive. I was thrilled to find Lovin Touch. It is a quaint little place where the driveway is darling and tree lined. There are numerous play pens for dogs of different behaviors and sizes to play separately. My guys start to squeel with excitement the moment they catch a glimpse of the place. They would let us know if they aren’t having a good time somewhere (true!)
I’ve never had trouble booking via email or by phone. They have an awesome discount for multiple dogs and a great rewards program. I am always nervous leaving my fur kids anywhere and the girl who checks us in is always lovely about the amount of instructions I leave.
Is this place perfect? No. Do they spray your dogs if they bark? Probably. But, here’s the rub, unless you are paying top dollar for a facility which employs people who understand how to handle different dog behavior, this is what you are going to find at most day care facilities. As a dog trainer, I loathe the idea of my dogs being sprayed, but, at least they aren’t alpha rolling my pups spraying them with a hose. If you think that similarly priced facilities are using spray bottles with water, etc you are crazy.
I’m not thrilled about it, but, this is the nature of the beast which are day cares for dogs.
I don’t use their facility in winter because I don’t think there is a lot of indoor space for play and I have 2 dogs who aren’t crazy about extended outdoor stays in winter.
I commend them for doing whatever they can keep the dogs calm and happy. So, if kenneling dogs during pickup is needed, that’s fine with me. Try working around barking dogs all day and then judge this policy!
The living quarters aren’t anything special, but, my dogs seemed pretty happy and during my tour there. Besides, I leave them there for the property they can roam on, not where they sleep. they were using sheets etc. over the kennel to help keep a dog calm who was having a rough day at day care.
For me and my pups, as long as it’s not winter, you’ll find my guys here having a grand old time. :)

I would HIGHLY discourage anyone from boarding your pet at A Lov-​In Touch Pet Chalet. After paying for a «suite» for our two dogs for a week long stay, we picked our dogs up to find one had suffered a severe dog bite several days ago (4 – 5) that needed medical attention. Not only were we not told about the bite– no medical attention had been administered. We took our dog to our neighborhood vet and were told to immediately go to an animal hospital to receive treatment for the oozing wound.
As if that were not bad enough. As we are checking out, prior to seeing out pets (an discovering the severe dog bite) we were treated EXTREMLEY rudely by the owner of the kennel Demi Lowry. Never have I experienced such horrendous customer service, and down right rude behavior from an owner of a small business.
After calling A Lov-​In Touch Pet Chalet within 30 minutes of picking out dogs up, and inquiring about the oozing injury we were told they had no idea how it happened and possibly occurred while the dog was under the bed in the suite. This CLEARLY was not a scratch but rather a bite. The injury was VERY evident if anyone had paid any attention to our dog at all.
Again, the next morning I called to let A Lov-​In Touch Pet Chalet now what the vet had diagnosed. I asked to speak to Demi Lowry and were told she was unavailable. I told the person that answered the phone what had happened and was told again, they had no idea. WHAT??? A bleeding, oozing wound that was clearly visible had not been discovered for days!!!
I would highly recommend anyone that loves their pet to stay away from A Lov-​In Touch Pet Chalet!

I recently got a full-​time job and hoped to find some place close to home where I could send my two dogs a day or two a week while I’m at work. I learned about this family-​owned doggie daycare from a sign on the side of the highway, less than 10 miles from my home. I looked up their web site when I got home. Looked legit — a big yard in a rural setting on someone’s home property — except that no where on the site does it say what kind of vaccinations are required for your dog to attend.
I sent them an email, but didn’t hear back. After a couple days I called and a man told me they’d never gotten the email. I made a tentative appointment to tour the facility but had to cancel because my hours changed at work. I called back a couple weeks later and talked with a woman. She seemed annoyed to answer questions and told me to fill out the online application form. I did, got an auto-​reply email saying they’d contact me within 24-​hours. 48-​hours later, I called them. Again, a man told me he never got the form, but I made arrangements to bring my dogs the following Friday for a trial evaluation day.
When I arrived, only three dogs were in the play yard. The office guy told me he’d found my email but it had been marked «red.» (Whatever that means.) I asked if it was a problem and he said no. I was given a disclaimer form with items to initial. Items included, «I understand my dog will be sprayed with a vinegar and water solution if it doesn’t behave,» and «I attest that my dog does not bark excessively.» I thought that was sort of weird — why not just use water? how much barking is «excessive»? — but the few dogs I saw seemed happy enough to be there so I left my dogs for their trial evaluation day. They told me they’d give me a facility tour and a report card on my dogs when I picked them up.
When I went to pick up the dogs, there were three adults sitting around a table in a side yard at the house, looking like they were enjoying evening cocktails. Two dogs were running around their table. (I assume these were the owner’s dogs.) When I parked by the office, there were only two dogs in the daycare play yard. The guy I left my dogs with came out from a small back building and offered to give me a tour. He seemed to be the only person working in the dog area. He brought me in the building and showed me the boarding facilities — with 50 dogs in cages! It was 5pm and ALL the dogs in the doggie daycare were crated. He told me the dogs were locked up at 4:30 to avoid excessive barking when their owners came to pick them up. I was NOT INFORMED my dogs would be crated at any time during the day. I also noticed that although it was a very hot day, the kiddie pools they had out supposedly for the dogs to splash in during the day were bone dry. When I asked for the report card they said they’d give, he told me my dogs had behaved well, and that was the report card.
Other problems:
On the way out of the kennel building, I saw a sign that said, «The Golden Rule: Four barks and you’re out!» So I guess four barks in a row gets your dog sprayed with vinegar and/​or locked in a crate and/​or banned from attending this doggy day «care.» That seems like a really low tolerance toward normal dog behavior.
The web site says there will be a 5% discount for cash payments. When I got there and read through the paperwork, they stated the cash discount only applied to invoices totally $ 100 or more.
The web site also says there is a 10% discount for a second pet. Although I brought two dogs, there was no discount offered. I guess I’ll chalk that up to no discount on the trial day, but that’s not specified any where.
Their web site claims they have 5 suites boarded dogs can stay in for an additional cost. The photos on their website make it look like these are fairly sizable spaces with beds. They are not. Both my dogs (65 lbs and 40 lbs) were in a room about the size of a large crate. The only thing thing differentiating this space from the room-​o-​crates most of the dogs were in was that the walls that went up to the ceiling and it had a fiberglass window that looked out on a hallway.
Web site also claims to have «2 acres for doggies to romp and play.» This is incorrect. The property the kennel sits on looks to be about two acres but I only saw about ¹⁄₈^th acre designated for as a dog play area, and not showed any other areas when given a tour of the facility.
The facility was clean, I’ll give them that. But since I can’t know if my dogs were locked up all day, and the people running the place don’t seem to like dogs that act like dogs, I certainly won’t be taking my pets there again.
