Hippie and the Hound Vapor Store Lounge

Probably the worst vape shop I’ve been to. I came in around 7:30 and they closed at 8:00. Unfortunately, I was on the road passing through Erie or I wouldn’t have come so close to closing time. The kid working there was not bad. He was thinly disguising his hatred for me being in there so close to closing, but I don’t blame him for that, it would probably irritate me too. Although largely unhelpful, he remained pleasant enough throughout my time in there. What threw me off was the long-​haired 60-​something dude that looked like the kind of guy that would stab you in a bar fight walking around in there trying to give bags of fish… yes FISH… to the other customers in the store. I like fresh perch as much as the next guy, but it’s a vapor store, not a fish market. Plus, who the hell takes bags of fish from strangers? The woman he was trying to give it to didn’t seem interested but he kept insisting until she reluctantly agreed. He proceeded to give her his phone number so she could call him any time she wanted fresh fish. Maybe he was just being a nice guy, maybe he was hitting on her, I have no clue… but I know for certain that if I owned a store selling consumable goods, a filthy man peddling bags of fish would be one of the last people I’d allow inside my shop.
Anyways, back to the actual vapor… When I asked the clerk to try a few flavors, he pointed to a messy counter next to the main counter with tanks and batteries just sitting there alongside uncapped bottles of juice. I kinda liked the idea of being able to try the juices without having to bother the cashier, but the counter was a mess and they only had maybe a third of their menu out there and at least 75% of the tanks were leaking juice everywhere when you picked them up. They also didn’t have any sanitation tips for the mouthpieces, but luckily I had one in my pocket from a different vape shop I visited last week. I told the kid what kid of flavors I like and asked what he recommended. His response…“Well…I don’t ever use the premium flavors so I can’t really tell you.” That struck me as odd. If I worked at a vapor store, I’d try every single flavor so I could help assist customers. Every other vapor store I’ve been to, I’d just tell the clerk what kind of flavors I like and they’d recommend 20 different flavors for me to try. I ended up buying a flavor that wasn’t even available to try based on the description alone. It was my 4^th or 5^th choice based on description alone because they didn’t have the others that I asked to buy.
But wait! It was freebie day! If you buy a bottle of juice, you get a 15mL house juice for free! That’s pretty cool… except I tried like 15 different house juices and they all sucked. I found one I finally liked and was going to get that one… but guess what? They were out of it. I tried another 5 or 10 before finally deciding on a very mediocre flavor that was just marginally better than the others.
I needed some coils also and purchased a 5-​pack of Kanger Sub-​Tank 0.5. How could they possibly mess this up? Well they did. I got out of the store a fast as I could and continued my drive. I was displeased with everything about that place, but wasn’t going to write a review until I went to replace my coil this morning… and my 5 pack only had 3 coils in it. The coils are usually wrapped in foil and all 5 attached with perforated plastic. The perforation was clearly broke off and the pack clearly says «5-​pack» on it yet there were only 3.
If you need vape supplies or juice, I’d recommend spending extra gas money to find somewhere else. If you need crappy juice, poor service, unsanitary conditions, or free fish from a man who looks like a grizzled hippie sea captain that does way too much acid, this is the place for you.

We always feel comfortable walking in here. Multiple employees are always willing to give input and advice. We never feel rushed. They always have ejuice and supplies to suit our needs. It’s a very social yet professional environment.
There are 3 – 4 vape shops closer to home, but Hippie and the Hound is always worth the drive.

Very unimpressed. Underage kinds hanging out, very pushy staff and didn’t like the flavors.

The only place I would go in Erie for e cigs and all of your vaping needs, they have a huge variety of juices and the people there are very helpful and eager to help.
