AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

After looking at my transmission they let me know the price and the day it would be done. Do to complications they had my truck for extra days. Not only did they take care of the extra problems for free they rented me a truck. This was far beyond any repair shop I’ve ever been to!

I called to ask about getting an oil change and made the mistake of mentioning that I had a coupon. They tried to tell me they were booked for oil changes until January. Uh. Sorry, what?

I have lived in San Diego for a little over 7 years and this is THE ONLY auto shop I will ever go to… period! I drive from San Diego up to Escondido for the excellent service I receive at this Aamco. And… if I can’t drive I have my car towed the extra mile.
I visited multiple other shops prior to finding this place, I feel like other shops tried to push my car out as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I almost always ended up having to bring my car back to those other shops when something went wrong.
This Aamco truly takes the time to accurately figure out what is going on with my cars. After finding this Aamco I am a firm believer in the quote, «Good service is worth waiting for.» They take the time to get things done right the first time.
Very professional, very honest, and very reasonably priced in comparison to other mechanics who are just out to get your money. I will be a customer for life.
Also…their transmission work is truly a step above the rest. If you want to save yourself the head ache and you want it done right the first time, then take the extra few steps over to this auto shop. You won’t regret it! Thanks Aamco.

I won’t say it was a simple process, and it wasn’t cheap… transmission rebuilds cost money! They were priced less than the dealer though, that’s for sure. It took much longer than we expected, but the guys there were very helpful and stuck with my car and me until we were all satisfied. They did extras without charging extra (including a new alternator and sensors). I recommend them.

It is so hard to find a reputable transmission shop that knows what there doing, Jason will go above and beyond to get everything working up to factory specifications. the Nice thing is, I brought my 1999 f-​250 diesel in with a high mileage transmission that was extremely sluggish on shifting — He presented me with a couple options with different prices and quality of parts, I went for the best parts I could get because I need the truck to run for work. Everything has worked flawless and I am very happy with the work and the cleanliness of the job. I finally found a transmission shop that knows what there doing, plus he was able to give me a heads up on a couple things about my truck because they do more than just trans. work there, which was really nice. I highly recommend Jason and Noël for any work on my friends rigs or anyone else. thanks guys.

WARNING: DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS PLACE! They will bait you into paying for repairs that you don’t need!
I’ve had two awful experiences with Noël and this Aamco location. My farther purchased a package of pre-​paid oil changes and brake inspections vouchers from groupon for this Aamco location. He paid for all the vouchers up front, so if he doesn’t use them he will lose his money. I have never taken any of my vehicles here, but decided to let them complete an oil change on a vehicle I had recently purchased (my dad had too many vouchers to use up by himself before they expire). Noël was friendly and seemed trust worthy. I had just bought the car a few months earlier and was aware that I needed to change the air filters. The car is 10 years old but had less then 40,000 miles on it! In excellent condition! After changing my oil, Noël tells me I need new belts AND air filters immediately. I had him change the filters that day but said I would come back for the belts, as he said they were $ 150 with labor and that just wasn’t in my budget. Came back a week later, he finishes up with my belts and then tries to charge me $ 300! He claims he said the cost for one belt (we’re talking parts only) was $ 150…not the total cost for replacing both. Are you kidding me! I politely told him to put my old belts that he claimed were going to fall apart any second back on my vehicle. I drove my car across the street to a mechanic that I know and trust. Paid $ 40 for him to inspect my whole vehicle. Belts were fine! No need to replace them! That was a few months ago. belts still haven’t given me any trouble.
My boyfriend just recently took his car there (again, just to use up the vouchers my dad already paid for). Noël pulled the same thing with him. Told him he needed a complete overhaul of his back brakes. He claims they were leaking. My boyfriend had just bought the car so decided to have it looked at by someone we trust just in case Noël was being honest (everyone’s entitled to the benefit of the doubt at least once). We took my boyfriends car to a mechanic we know and trust down in San Diego. Nothing wrong with the brakes at all! This place is a SCAM! Do NOT trust them with your vehicle! If your stuck with those pre-​paid vouchers like we are, you have my sympathy.

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. As a contractor, your word is your bond, mean what you say and say what you mean.
My daughter bought her first car less than 2 months ago. It started having transmission problems and had overheated twice. I called around for quotes and NOEL said he’d run a diagnostic on it and drop the tranny for free. We drove the vehicle there with no problem.
He calls and says his computer picked up no codes and that he was going to drop the tranny to see what was happening internally. He calls me up and says the tranny needs a soft parts rebuild and that the torque converter need to be replaced. And then tells me it’s going to run $ 2800. Parts would run about $ 1200.00 that means $ 1600.00 on labor. Are you freaking kidding me. I had quotes from $ 1200 – 2400 for a complete rebuild. I called some part stores to see how much the rebuild kits were, the parts he was talking about at the parts store were under $ 600 with tax. The typical bait and fish ploy. Really sad that you can’t trust people to be honest with their dealings. Thanks for leaving a bad taste in my mouth NOEL. That has typical implications for mechanics. WE DROVE IT IN AND WE CAN’T EVEN DRIVE IT OUT. UNBELIEVABLE

Do not take your car to this shop… if you do, make sure all fees and what they charge for are disclosed up front. Prior to doing any work. It seems they like to reel you in by telling you something is free of charge and then once it is taken apart if you choose not to have them do the work they charge you an astronomical price to put it back together. NOT morally right, very deceiving and manipulative!

Honesty, Integrity, and very professional. Thats my best description. They will not advise
or sell you parts or service not needed. Deserves a 6 star rating!

Last year my truck was having transmission problems and I thought I was going to have to buy another transmission. Yet then I took it to Escondido Aamco and I’m glad I did. These guys were able to fix the problem and save me a ton of money. Very courteous and professional service. Great job guys!

I’ve been taking my car to Escondido Aamco for a few years, since I bought one of their oil change package deals. The guys listen, are quick, and when I’ve had bigger issues they called me often to keep me apprised of the status of my repairs. Based on the excellent service I’ve received here, my mom also now trusts her car to Escondido Aamco.

It was easy to make an appointment, place was clean and neat (and close to home! that was a plus), technician was friendly, courteous, professional and thorough, price was right! What more could I ask?

They helped me with everything I needed. They were totally professional. They provided me with options. They easily merit top level 5 start rating from their ability to communicate and cooperate with our transmission needs on our 2003 Honda Pilot.

The guys at this AAMCO are amazing. They provide excellent, friendly, and reliable service. My husband and I went there for the first time when we were looking at buying a used truck. They were very helpful and straight forward with us when we brought a truck there for a check up before buying. After buying, we continued using their services and have always been more than satisfied with the work they did and the service they provided. Seriously, we would not go anywhere else. They go out of their way to make sure the client is satisfied.

These guys were highly recommended by a friend. I have to admit I was cautious on my first visit but they won my trust from the very start. Jason and Cary are amazing.
