History

Established in 2007.

In 2007 Army mechanics started a mobile auto repair service to San Diego county, and its surrounding area. We have grown in to a small corporation over the time and have recently opened up a new shop in Escondido.

I started working on cars and trucks when I was 16 years old, and it instantly became a passion of mine. When I had the opportunity to join the US Army and become a Light Wheel Vehicle mechanic taking the opportunity to hone my skills and receive a military education. After my discharge I decided to start a business in mobile auto repair. Army Mechanics has been doing business for over 5 years in San Diego County. We have serviced over 1600 vehicles in that time. I have found during this time of running the business the essential «key performance indicators» which allow and drive it to continuously grow and succeed are our core values: Quality, Integrity, and Honesty. We believe in implementing these core values with each and every client. In addition, we stand behind the parts and services we provide.

Very professional and knowledgeable.
I own three older cars that all have small age related issues. I have utilized Army Mechanics to service each one. David and his crew have always provided excellent service. They have always explained exactly what work was to be performed and gave me different options. They also have gone the extra mile and offered suggestions to keep my vehicles properly maintained to avoid future repairs. I have utilize both their mobile service and their shop in Escondido.

i live in mexico and i only come here to get my vehicle serviced. all of them. they go out their way and above to make sure you’re taking care off.example.i was having issues with my tail lights and they wouldn’t come on or give any turn signal, and didn’t want to risk a chance of getting ticketed for something small. the owner literally stop what he was doing and took care of it and proceed to tighten up the housing to make it neat and presentable. Well trained professional vet owned… and very comfortable being there waiting. There’s a great taco spot 1 minute walk away. or if you’re an exercise head like me you can always bring your running shoes and run the low active streets. Basically what I’m saying is this is my kind of spot to take care of multiple objectives and also learn from them.

If you are looking for an honest mechanic that you can trust, look no further! David has been my mechanic for over 3 years. He also services all of my family members’ vehicles as well.
I love the peace of mind I get when I drop off my cars for service, maintenance, upgrades, etc. I know everything will be done right and that my cars are in great hands.
There is no job to big or small for Army Mechanics! This is truly a one stop shop for all of your automotive needs!
The other bonus is that they are mobile and can come to you if need be and your vehicle is not running.

Have a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon & its my baby. I’m not what you would consider to be an expert of mechanical work, so I choose to have the work done on it to be from a mechanic I trust. I had heard good things about this shop and trusted that this would be a good fit. And in a timely manor they were able to fix an issue with my alignment, replaced my cv joints and front axel. All the mechanics held themselves to a very professional standard and if I need work again I’m coming back here.

Dealership was going to charge $ 270 for rear brake pads replacement. My wife took her car to Army Mechanics per the recommendation from a fellow Soldier. She was very satisfied with the job and only had to pay $ 113. We now found a mechanic that we can trust.

My car did not pass smog and after some research I though the spark plugs may be the problem. After an attempted DIY I found myself in a sticky situation with an engine that sounded like loose change in a dryer. With a flick of the thumb and a tap of button David from Army Mechanic’s was there in a jiffy – just as fast as über! He blew away my expectations from a Craigslist mobile mechanic advertisement. My 20 year car is sound like beaut now. Definitely would recommended over any other professional mobile auto repair service in the Southern California area. 5⁄5 A+

If I could give «zero» I would. The first mechanic (Jose?) came out (was an hour late) had no clue what he was doing, mis-​diagnosed the problem, and nearly started a fire under my hood by shorting out one of the terminals. The next mechanic who came out (Zach), ALSO mis disgnosed the problem. He claimed I was getting no power «to» the coil. He then ordered me an ignition box (MSD6AL). I had to make a THIRD appointment to have him come install it. This time Dave (the owner of the company) came with him. First off, they brought the WRONG part, which was ordered incorrectly. At that time Zach and Dave started digging in to it more. Only to find they had mis-​diagnosed the problem AGAIN! There was no problem with the ignition/​coil AT ALL. They now told me I had a broken timing chain. Really? Wht kind of outfit is this place? These guys have NO IDEA what they are doing. DO NOT hire these guys to work on your car.
After all of this BS, they send me an email saying they have now «changed company policy» and no longer work on cars, older than 1996. So they charged me $$ 165 to diagnose my problem, and never diagnosed it properly, then left me hanging, and on top of it will not refund my money that they took from me and misdiagnosed my car.
I have now found someone reliable to do the work. And guess what? The timing chain is FINE!!! So they mis-​diagnosed my car three times.
Save yourself the headache I had to endure with these hacks/​clowns and DO NOT hire these guys. Complete nightmare.

I’ve had 3 experiences with them. First time they came and did things to my car I did not ask them to do. 2nd time they told me that they were not the ones that messed up the car and took off a fuel pump, but when they showed up they admitted to the mistake but didn’t make sure everything was fixed before they left. 3rd time I tried to have them come back and get the car started and they told me about a «NEW» policy where they won’t work on my vehicle because it is past a certain year. This was all over the course of a few weeks. Amazing that they were able to adopt such new policies so quickly. They clearly didn’t want to come fix their own mess. The lack of integrity I dealt with was disappointing coming from Vets. Pick another mobile service that will finish the job they start and not leave you high and dry when they don’t feel like making the trip.
P. S. In response to his comment. I would have paid $ 125 each visit if the job was done right, and was what I asked you to do. You as a business owner chose to charge me less which I agreed to because you were continually fixing your own mistakes.

Had my wheel bearings replaced on my 1999 Subaru about a year ago and still have had no problems. I went back today because my check engine light was on. They diagnosed the issue and I was in n out within 10 minutes! I replaced the parts they said I needed to and I’m back on the road within the same day. Great customer service.

I learned about these guys from my foreman at work and man they have been awesome. They are knowledgeable and timely and thus far have been able to beat the price of the competition. I had a coolant leak that they fixed right away and gave me a tune up for 1⁄3rd the price any other mechanic was wanting. Truck has been running like new ever since. Not only are they competitive in price, but show they are definitely willing to work with you to get you back on the road as soon as possible. I have more work in need and I plan to call them again soon.

David and Zach were very courteous and friendly and hardworking. They way they set up appointments needs some improvement and they need to be on time if you sign up for a certain time slot. Also they couldn’t fix my O2 sensor that day after diagnosing it and said I had to make another appointment for that. I called another mobile mechanic and he came over and fixed it 3 hours after Army Mechanics left. Very pricey also. The other mobile mechanic charges $ 40 less an hour. Overall I would have to say just ok but with some changes they could be excellent as Dave and Zach are good people with the right attitude. They just need to look at their process I think. Pat R.

My poor baby, a 2007 Ford Focus was having some engine issues. As a 21 year old naïve female, I was a little daunted at the idea of having to find a mechanic and possibly get ripped off. Luckily, a friend recommended Dave and his company to me. They got me in, fixed me up for an honest and reasonable price, and were super nice and friendly too. I won’t hesitate to come back here if something is ever wrong with my car again.
