Great job by Todd and Crew keeping my M6 running fine.

When it comes to doing maintenance/​regular automotive work they do a good job like a majority of the shops.
Now custom fabricating a turbo system that you want is a totally different story.
I talked to Todd a dyno tech for months about building a turbo for my mazda miata before the car even came to the shop. Showing him examples of short tubular manifold on Miatas. Todd says he could do it and anything you want as long as you pay for it they can do it. Biggest load of crap and lies after it was said and done.
What I wanted in my turbo system
–short tubular manifold unequal (Todd claims length of runners 8−10″ max).
–responsive turbo system.
–system that is easy to access different parts of the turbo in case anything happens at an auto-​x or track.
–quality work (obviously).
What I actually got was totally different.
–I got a long tube header 12.5−15−5″ which all tubes where pretty much unequal length which is claimed by dynotech to be near equal length. Tacky steel tabs only seen on ebay turbo manifolds.
–A system that is for more top end power than mid-​range and response.
–Because of the manifold design, parts of the turbo system was difficult to access.
–Bought new wastegate v-​band which dynotech lost and had to reuse from my other parts definitely unprofessional.
–missing bolts for my brackets and braces under the chassis.
–Turbo oil drain return is done improperly. Turbo manufacturers requires drain lines to be vertical as possible because the oil drain is gravity feed with no 90 degree bends. I got 2 degree bends with a 12″ line that loops around my power steering shaft that is at horizontal level with my oil pan. Also dynotech did a backyard hack with my oem oil drain lines with cutting and welding. A nice machined piece would have cost only 15 – 25 dollars and allowed different fittings which would give more options of doing the oil drain correctly. Instead I get an oil drain system that no manufacturer would approve and possible be denied warranty if they how the oil drain was setup. It was some backyard hack job.
–Todd also claims since the car is not tuned I couldn’t say that the turbo system isn’t responsive. Also told me he made the system this way for me and what I needed.
I could get the 1000 – 1500 rpms spool once the car was tuned. I did the tuning and more. It was not even close to what was claimed when tuning was done.
–When I went to pick up my under-​tray which dynotech cut without my permission I told Todd how unhappy I am with the system. He says he is not redoing it. Instead of arguing about it I just took the under-​tray and left.
–I KNOW WHAT I WANTED AND NEEDED. I AM PAYING FOR THE SYSTEM. IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, WHICH OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN’T SAY NO AND LET ME TAKE IT TO A «PROFESSIONAL FABRICATOR» WHO CAN.
–I am now having a new manifold fabricated by a vendor who I used in the past with success on miatas who understands the miata chassis and build quality manifolds (with a jig). Waste gates and other system components are fabricated in optimized locations for fitment, performance, and easy access. OPPOSITE OF DYNOTECH.
–I wasted alot of time and money with dynotech regarding turbo fabrication.
ALSO TAKE ANY PICTURES OF THE FABRICATION WORK YOU DID YOU MY MIATA OFF YOUR FACEBOOK. IT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE GETTING PROPS FOR BUILDING ME A CRAPPY TURBO MANIFOLD AND SYSTEM. I AM NOT PROUD TO SHOW THIS TO ANYONE.

My first experience with them at their new location in Escondido. Their old shop looked a lot nicer, and it was much easier to find.
I brought in my 2013 Subaru WRX Wagon, to install a Defi Boost Gauge, and an aftermarket A-​Pillar gauge housing. $ 105 later, and less than two hours later they were done.
This is my third time coming to them as a business, and I have to say, I love these guys. Great shop, great people, amazing service.

In response to Todd’s response to my orriginal review.
The turbo was orriginal with the car. It’s the same model number that comes with the vehicle verified before I went to Dynotech Motorsports.
Todd litteraly spent 10 minutes getting the codes from the obd2 reader and about 10 minutes talking to me about the problems and trouble shooting I had already had other mechanics try. He never dismantled any parts to look at the turbo. If he did that he would know that the turbo was orriginal.
He’s either delusional, a liar, or he’s confusing me with another customer.
Like I said before, two different shops quoted me $ 350 and $ 380 for labor to remove and reinstall the turbo. The rebuild was to be done at Pure Turbos in Oceanside.
Take your money elsewhere.

i still havent been contacted by DTM

Called around many different mechanic shops in central San Diego to get a Torsen Helical Differential installed in my SVT Focus and everyone said «Sorry, we can’t do it». Called up Scott at Dynotech in oceanside who said, «Yes and that they would take on the project (10 hours of labor)». Long story short, dropped off tuesday morning and it was done thursday afternoon. Quicker than I was expecting, plus they have a dyno and I was able to get my car dynoed /​tuned also the same day I picked it up. Will be recommending to anyone I know who is looking for a tuner /​dyno place. Thanks again, Jason in San Diego

This is by far the most honest mechanic you’ll ever find.
I don’t mind paying for great service, I just hate the idea of being cheated because I don’t really understand auto maintenance and repair and I don’t regularly scan the marketplace for pricing.
Todd and the guys at DynoTech will let us know what needs to be done, what can be safely put off, and, most importantly, what I need to do to protect my family and the investment we’ve made in our cars.
For example, I recently found that we needed new rear tires on my wife’s 5-​Seies, I asked Todd to «put on whatever you’d put on your wife’s car». He selected Bridgestone Serenity plus tires and put them on for a great price. I looked them up later out of curiosity and found that they were selected by several reviewers as the best grand touring tires available. I put my trust in them and have never been disappointed.
If you are similarly-​minded and just want an honest mechanic who is highly skilled then take the time to meet the guys at DynoTech. You won’t be disappointed.

These guys are passionate about cars and seem very honest and fair. Sadly, that’s all too rare these days with mechanics. We had to drive a good ways to use them but we are glad we did, they are worth the drive. I bought a 1968 Old’s 442 for my son so it was great to find a fanatic like Jay to work on an old classic muscle car.
We look forward to a long relationship keeping the 442 in prime running condition.

took my buddies pontiac solstice to get repaired cause it was blowing smoke and had a huge boost leak. they fixed it in a week and the car is the exact same as before. exhaust mani was warped, turbo mani warped, bolts broken and cross threaded, oil lines blown, everything was fixed.

This place is bangin’! I took my pride & joy mkIV GTI in for some electrical diagnosis today (the windows wouldn’t work and it was like I was rolling around in a heat box). The DTM team is very diverse, knowledge, and friendly. They diagnosed the problem in no time before I finished guzzling down a can of Peace Tea in the lobby.
DTM’s been really helpful in the past and has supported my company and I. I see myself getting all my routine maintenance done through DTM as well as tuning the Hell out of that 1.8T. In my industry, it is a rarity to see such an atmosphere out of a shop. I will be referring my car enthusiasts friends to DynoTech MS.
I am looking forward to working with DynoTech Motorsports Todd, Dardan, George, and Scott to name a few more extensively in becoming trendsetters and leading the industry.

We took in our 2010 Toyota Sequoia to Dynotech for new tires along with front and rear brakes. Great service, great team, and really great work on our SUV. We are very appreciative of their attention to detail and full support on their work. Dynotech is truly out to give you their best service at a really good price. This shop is outstanding! If you need a shop that is honest and will advise you on the best route for your repairs or maintenance than you have come to the right place. I brought my 2001 BMW 5 Series to the staff here as it was running terrible and they found the problem right away. The repair was fast and cost much less than I expected. Thank you for the great work!
They also do tires! So my next set will for sure be done with Todd and his friendly crew.

I have had a slew of BMWs, they are all I’ve ever owned, and this is the only shop I ever came back to. They bend over backwards to save you money and get you the best bang for your buck. they have even given rides to customers for pick-​up and drop-​off.
The owner Todd is one of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet, and if your into performance, he can help you dream big, or ball on a budget.

After calling around several shops for price quotes I went to Todd at Dynotech because his parts prices were the best and the service I would describe as curteous, honest and work was done right. I’m planning on using Dynotech again for repairs on my BMW. They didn’t try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. You can tell Todd cares about each client’s car as if it were his own.

The staff at this shop is superb! Todd is extremely knowledgeable and my tech, Jameson, treated my BMW as if it were their own, not trying to upsell me on stuff I did not need. I would recommend this shop to anyone, especially if you own a BMW! Will be going back for sure! Cannot beat the prices and service! Thanks guys!

I will never recommend this shop to anybody. Todd is a great guy, I’ve known him for a while, but the work is incredibly sub par. I’ve had a family members e46 get a motor swap, and there were no retaining clips on the fuel injectors which led to a massive fuel leak and near fire, the motor was also from «a friend’s car,» as Todd put it, and it has never run right, leaked coolant and also oil since we got the car back. I also have had my e36 there for numerous things, some good, some bad. However this last trip was my breaking point, I bought a differential and my front bolt was cross threaded and broken.

I do not trust my car with any shop. There are lots of bad ones out there. You can trust Todd and his staff at dynotech, they are very good at helping you with anything you need done on your car. I was recommended by a friend and was not disappointed. They got me in on the same day which is nice.
