I lived in this apartment complex for over 2.5 years and have nothing but positive things to say.
Safe and clean environment. The Management team led by Ms. Dawn always took care of maintenance issues promptly and were always super-​courteous and welcoming.

If you are considering moving here and own a motorcycle, please consider again. I have lived here a little over 4 months and they have tried to steal the bike TWICE! The leasing office cant do anything about it, they don’t have security cameras and the only source of security is a patrol woman. That is not helpful because this has happened twice already in such a short time. My parking spot is really far from my actual apartment and I can’t keep an eye on the bike from my window, although I requested a closer spot I never got a call back from the office. In addition, they always have construction going on and it can be very loud early in the morning. In terms of the apartment, we are in an «upgraded unit“‘ the only difference is the upgraded kitchen cabinets. The rest of the apartment is very old and usually I don’t mind but we are paying a high price to live here. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because Mandy has been so nice and understanding. Otherwise I would have given 1 star.

Great place to live. Good pricing and great office team. Maintenance is quick to respond. Security on the premises at night. Gated. Parking is pretty good. Pool and grill are nice amenities and usually available. Every store and food place you could ever want within walking distance. Animal friendly.
We’ve lived here twice now after moving downtown for a bit. This place feels like home.

I have lived here since August of 2014. We just recently re-​signed our lease. This place definitely has its pros and cons, and I will break them down, but I really do love living at this location.
Start out straight — I knocked one star off for rent increase and out-​dated appliances. Other than that, I love our apartment.
Pros:
— Amazing upkeep of property. There are a lot of dogs on the property, but I never see any dog feces laying round. They have convenient «poop centers» — stands with trash and doggy poop bags — for your convenience. Very pet friendly.
— Friendly staff. They are always helpful and over-​the-​top friendly.
— We expressed interest in maybe upgrading in the near future, to a two bedroom, and they said it would be no problem at all, and that the deposit would transfer.
— Location, location, location. You have the grocery store, restaurants, dry cleaning, nail salon. Everything within comfortable walking distance.
— I don’t have kids, but the elementary school is right across the street. Del Dios Elementary.
— Quiet neighborhood, unless you live right outside of the pool like we do. We just close the sliding glass door. Kids will be kids. Can’t wait for summer to be over, haha.
— Fast response to maintenance requests. All our requests have been answered within 24 hours. They often do upgrades and checks around the apartments, but they pass out notices a week in advance, and our things have never been shifted, and/​or you cannot tell that somebody has been in the apartment after they’ve completed their checks.
Cons:
— Outdated appliances. Do they work? Yes. Could they be nicer for the price we pay for rent? Sure. There are condos as about a mile down the street that offers all hardwood floors and brand new appliances for just $ 1500 a month, and you get your own garage.
**** However, you are really paying for the location with Emerald Glen. It doesn’t get better in regards to location. You can walk across the street to enjoy dinner at Pieology, El Pollo Loco, Mike’s BBQ, or down the street to Panera Bread, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Chik-​Fil-​A, IN N OUT BURGER :). Just to name a few.
We decided to re-​up our lease because of the location, and how beautiful the complex is in general. It’s definitely the nicest in the vicinity.

I’ve lived here over a month now and I love it so far. had a problem with the front door and they fixed it within the hour. I can’t! say enough great things about this place ! you just need to come and check it out! I definitely recommend it!

This place is a real Gem. Dawn, the manager, is very nice and welcoming and so is Mandy. The entire staff treats you like you are in a 5 star hotel. They have fast service to fix issues in apartment. They clean the area and I could tell. Extremely accommodating staff. I really like where I live. Space is enough for me inside apartment, and I like that they have night security. The only issue I have is the amount of dogs in the area. The staff has no control over that but I really cannot stand darks barking endlessly. Shut your dog up please especially in early morning.

Rudeeee leasing office. Theyre so inconsiderate. I’ve lived here 3 years now with my fiancé and the 3^rd year the name and management changed along with all the employees. Elyse is rude who claims to be the manager when you ask to speak to one on the phone but don’t believe her shes a liar. Dawn who said she talked to her employee about being rude and lying and hanging up on me and talking shit about me when I walked in the office to confront her about hanging up on me obviously didnt. She turns her back when you’re speaking to her and then chases me out of the leasing office. CRAZY. Thank Jesus I’m out of here in 5 days! Would never put this place on anyone. If there were a choice of 0 stars that would be more sufficient!

I really like this place. I seldom write reviews but this place is awesome. I still live here, and even though I make frequent complaints the management are always very understanding. There are no perfect apt out there and you will always have issues but how the staff and management handles the situation determines a residents satisfaction and at this time I am surprised that I am giving a 5 star for any service. I have a kid and my wife staya at home and I feel safe leaving them alone as this place is gated and I often see securiry in then middle of the night patrolling. Just remember for evry complaints there are literally hundreds of customers that are satisfied but does not write a review

I really do like this place. The office is very helpful when you need them. The grounds are kept looking very nice. The community is usually pretty quiet, with the exception of some people having a party every now and then, and kids playing outside.
I love the close proximity to Albertsons and Target. I have also gone to have drinks at Applebees and walked home with no problems. This is a VERY nice part of Escondido! Also, the freeway is right up the street so that’s awesome!
A few issues:
1. Pricing. It is crazy expensive to live here. I mean, yes, it’s super nice to have a washer/​dryer within the unit, it’s nice being moments away from the freeway, and it’s nice that the apartments are gated. However, every time your lease is up, they increase it a lot. I understand that this place was taken over, but to get residents to stay long-​term, don’t raise the rent so high! They want us to pay about $ 1400 for a tiny one bedroom apartment. While I love it here, I cannot justify spending that much a month.
2. Construction Noise. I do admit that the place does look nice since Irvine Company went in and redid the parking lot along with all of the sidewalks. However, they started drilling crazy early in the morning. While I was already at work for the day, my fiancé used to work nights, so the very loud noises while he was trying to sleep was NOT ideal. They did give us a heads up. but still. It would have been nice for them to make the construction people start no earlier than 10.
3. Outdated appliances. This kind of goes hand in hand with my issue of how high the rent was. For the amount of rent we paid, the apartment was very outdated. It had cheap cabinets, cheap countertops, an older washer/​dryer, and older looking carpet that stained so easily. This wasn’t really that big of a concern, but for the amount we were paying, it would have been nice to have a renovated apartment.
All in all, I really did «love where I lived». This is a great place for you if you have the money to shell out for rent. The only reason I am leaving is because I simply cannot afford it. I really am going to miss this place. :(

This place is terrible. Management is now making up false complaints just to come to my apartment and harass us. Also, in our apartment we’ve had to deal with a gas leak, plumbing issues, HVAC leaks, clogged toilets. Not worth $ 1700 month. And they raised my rent for having an emotional support dog. I cannot wait for my lease to end!!!

I wanted to share a short story in regards to our Emerald Glen Community Manager, Dawn Schroader.
About 4 weeks ago, a resident approached me and shared his story of being a single dad. He was expressing that since his divorce, his children are growing up fast and does not realize where the time is going. With that said, he stated that he received his renewal notice and did not know what to do. He stated that it is so expensive and the he absolutely loves living here at Emerald Glen, but was looking at other properties that could fit his budget. I told him to go and talk with Dawn. Later on that day, I shared with Dawn the story to give her a heads up.
Approximately a week ago, the neighbor came to me, beaming with excitement, and shared his heart felt story. He was so thankful and grateful to know that we have a caring and sympathetic Community Manager. He stated that Dawn’s compassion and understanding was the tipping point to convince him to stay here at Emerald Glen. The resident stated that maybe he just needed to share his concerns and the results was that he renewed his lease and was so grateful.
This is a story that I wanted to share of why residents like us love where we live and know that our Community Manager (Dawn) and her team has the best interest in making our experience a memorable and lasting impression in our lives.

After moving to Arizona on June 17, 2014, I have been able to look for housing here in Arizona with apartments, homes, and condos and it made me realize just how poorly Emerald Glen Apartments are in Escondido. The prices at Emerald Glen Apartments are way too expensive for the quality that you actually receive with these units. The noise and construction were too much. My last few months were nothing but construction and noise. The resurfacing of the pool was very unnecessary. It was a good pool and never needed to be changed at all. The only reason why these changes were made was so that the rental prices could be increased. I would tell anyone not to move into Emerald Glen. Plus, there is absolutely no privacy! People in other apartments will actually take notice of how many times or what times of the day you walk your dog. Talk about nosy and God forbid if you say hello to anyone. They may look at you as strange for being friendly. The management will act friendly, but they do not have your best interests at heart. It is about the money! Just do not recommend this place to anyone!

I’ve lived here for about 4 years, when it was originally Archstone. I’ll start out with pros and cons
Pros: The pool is nice. They have a gym. There is a sauna, and the girls inside are pretty friendly.
Cons: I think since we’ve been under new ownership, the priorities have been a bit backwards. They raised the rent a lot, and I’m assuming its to accomodate for the constant construction that is going on. Re-​paving the roads, re-​doing the pool, doing all the outside stuff. The inside of my apartment looks like a junkie 80s flat. Old appliances, and when I originally moved in here, I literally had a washer and drier from the 80s. I have a constant mold problem too, and the apartments have a weird old odor. I know its not there fault that this is what I’ve been living in since I first moved here, but I think for the price of living here, they should at least offer some upgrades on the appliances inside my apartment, and kind of do a re-​model for all the people that have been living here for a long time, instead of raising the rent for the same old junk thats currently inside the apartment.
My experience here has been so-​so. Its quiet, and like I said the girls are nice inside. But I am moving next month to a place for some what the same price, but much nicer with much better appliances and amenities.

Don’t bother renting at Emerald Glen. They just changed their name to Emerald Glen from Archstone. Management is a joke, security is a joke, the grounds are not well kept. Only thing that you get help with is for maintenance. Management does not take care of its residents. Call in and they take forever for a response or never get around to it. Dog waste is left on the side walk and nothing is ever done by management. Cars are broken into quite often, some residents remain poolside way beyond the quiet hours. Save your time and money, skip emerald glen/​archstone.

I’ve lived at Emerald Glen for a little over a year. Originally, I was drawn here because the property was owned and operated by Archstone – a name that was synonymous with quality. I’ll admit I was nervous when Irvine Company purchased the property as things were going very well.
I’m glad to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the new management led by Dawn. There have been tremendous improvements made since the change including new landscaping, sidewalks, parking lots, and roofing. And I’m sure there are more improvements to come. Some see the constant construction as a detractor. I don’t. I see it as a management team who wants to keep the property as nice and updated as possible.
The social activities like Taco Tuesday and Tailgating at Petco Park are also nice touches. And further demonstration of Emerald Glen’s commitment to fostering a true community feel on the property.
The maintenance team is top notch as well. I submit a request in the morning and it’s fixed by the time I get home. When I had a severe problem with the water heater, Dawn (without being asked) found a nice hotel in La Jolla that also accommodated our dog and offered to pay for everything while the apartment was under repair.
The whole team is extremely conscientious and detail oriented. Even during the chaos of the wildfires, the team made sure we stayed informed of the ever-​changing situation. And when the evacuation order was issued, the staff knocked on every door to make sure everyone was aware of the order.
The neighbors are pleasant and quiet as well. At times, I forget I’m in an apartment complex because it is laid out and kept up like a nice vacation property.
I highly recommend renting at a Emerald Glen.

I have a month left in my lease here. The goods: I think the front office is really nice and helpful. The gym is always clean. The floor plans are very nice. The apartments are clean and there aren’t any bugs. I love that there is a full washer dryer in the apartment. We haven’t had any problems with our neighbors. There is plenty of parking. It is close to the freeway and a lot of shopping and restaurants
The bad: there is alwaysssss construction. The whole year we have lived here they are working on some project. When they worked in the roof they would be so loud and wake us up everyday for a whole month. Now they are working on the parking lot. I understand construction needs to be done to improve but it has literally been non stop construction the whole time we have lived here. I also think the apartments are way overpriced. Our new place is 200 sq feet bigger and a lot closer to the beach and is only 50 $ more. The appliances aren’t very good. The dishwasher will run for 2 hours and my dishes are still not clean bad it is so loud! There isn’t much storage in the units. The gym is small and doesn’t have many options. And no free weights. It is also pretty noisy from valley parkway. The trash bins are always full of furniture and grocery carts and looks like a homeless man lives there and it will sit there for weeks.
Overall. It’s a nice place to live. It isn’t great but not horrible. I just think that these apartments are way way to pricy for what they are.

Emerald Glen was the first and only stop when my partner and I came to Escondido for the first time in search of a nice place to live as I am opening an Organic Hair Salon near by. We met Dawn. What a beautiful heart felt person. She did everything you would expect an more to make us feel very welcome and taken care of. My Partner says, everything was explained well, and we are both excited to move into our new home. We will write another review after 6 months to let you know more.
