Roynon Museum of Earth Science & Paleontology

Went here today with my daughter’s third grade class, and I have to say, this is probably the coolest museum experience I ever had. The owner Mr Roynon spent literally hours taking us through his collection of minerals, fossils, and all manner of cool stuff. At the end, the kids got to pick out their own semiprecious stones and fossils to make their own souvenir boxes. Such an unexpected gem in Escondido! We’ll be back for sure.

Highly recommend this place for the whole family! You learn, spend quality time with the family, and the kids enjoy hands on fun! We got to meet Mr. Roynon and got a personalized tour. Pricing is very fair and you can buy gifts for low prices. Our son loved the experience!

A real north county hidden gem (no pun intended). Went here as a chaperone with a 4^th grade class and didn’t know what to expect as I hadn’t heard of the museum before. The class is studying earth science so they went here as an introduction for a lot of what’s to come. The kids enjoyed an informative and entertaining presentation and then it was followed up with a hands on construction of a mineral collection for each kid to take home. The kids had a great time and really learned a lot of information. This museum was created out of Roynon’s love and passion for the subjects/​objects as it’s obvious when you listen to him talking about everything.
This isn’t a huge museum but the place is densely packed with displays and specimens many of which we didn’t have a chance to take a look at so we’re going to return. They, also, mentioned that they do Boy Scout, Cub Scout, Girl Scout, etc. achievement badge programs so I plan on taking our den here in the future.

My second grader went here for a class field trip. Mr. Roynon was a wonderful and super informative docent! He’s very patient with the kids and tries to answer as many questions as possible.
The kids are led through the museum and they’re given a chance to look and touch many specimens.
At the end of the tour the kids put together their own rock and crystal collection.
I highly recommend this tour for schools! My kids and I went on our own and we still received a friendly and informative tour… Thanks to Greg! The only difference was that there wasn’t a rock collection to put together at the end (only for field trips.)

Great place to take the kids. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you are in you will be amazed with all the fossils you lay your eyes on.

Awesome and cool a good place to learn about dinosaurs. Met with Mr. Roynon and had a personalized tour. Learned about the laws governing fossils and the history of his collection. The gift shop sells fossils and rocks to take home as well. Great place to take the kids.
