I have been coming here for nearly 20 years(yikes). I have only purchased maybe three different menu items not because they only have a few good items but because the breakfast burrito especial is so damn good. I have mine made wth green sauce and it is salty, spicy and delicious. I now live about 90 miles to the north but still manage to get one to go every time I’m down. Takes awhile for them to cook but totally worth the wait.

Great tacos! Nothing beats a proper shredded beef taco, and this place has given me excellent tacos for many years. They also make awesome burritos. The people who work here are very friendly even if you walk in at closing time. They ask you how many hot sauces you want and I always get the red. It’s the best hot sauce I’ve ever had. Everything here is fresh and prepared perfectly. It’s always clean even though it’s busy. Everyone is smiling here, the people working and the people eating.

Better tasting carnitas compared to other restaurants of the same caliber. The place is small with around 5 – 6 booths. The cashier smiles occasionally, but really seems to just want to get on with whatever she’s doing. I prefer taking out than eating in. But, this last is up to you.

I give this restaurant three stars because going there is like playing Russian roulette. The food is absolutely excellent. Not even a question some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Then why three stars? Because more than half the time we go there we get sick, physically sick. Diarrhea and throwing up… When both of us get sick at the same time, it’s very easily to trace down where it was from. We kept going back because the food is so wonderful, but it’s at the point now where we won’t go anymore because we get sick there too often.

I have been coming here for over 10 years. The food has been very consistent. I believe this place was sold once and name has changed to Erikbertos. But same family seems to be running and cooking. Sometimes going to a quick fast food place you want to know you are safe with what you are getting. This is one of those places for me. I enjoy the food and know I am trust what I am getting. I will say though that their call ahead for orders doesn’t work very well. However I am sure they are probably protecting themselves getting burned by people not picking up their orders. But I call ahead every once in a while and I think they start my food when I get there. But it is never a super long wait.

Typical Mexican taco shop food. Nothing out of ordinary. Typical red and green salsa’s burritos and tacos. Prices are very fare. Would eat here if it was more convient.

Chicken tacos. Whenever I come down to visit, I try to bring some chicken tacos back with me. I went this past Monday, 16 June 2014 and although the tacos were delicious, something was a little off… maybe the taco shell wasn’t crunchy enough… Or, maybe nothing is as good as the memory I created. Still– Delicious!

We love Salsa!!! Isn’t always the quickest but the food is worth the wait. If you are in a hurry you can call in your order as well.

Been coming here since I was a young boy. The refried beans are incredible and the staff are quite friendly. I always feel like I get a good deal compared to how good the food tastes. The food is usually prepared quickly, too!

This place takes FOREVER to get you your food. Other great places in the area to give your business to.

Moved into this area and stumbled upon this place. Really wanted to like it, and I did for a little while. Except, there’s nothing on the menu that I like– so I just make my own combination. Would be fine, since I’m a picky eater and used to getting creative at restaurants, however they charge me $ 0.60 to $ 2.00 for any substitution. I was getting a veggie burrito and paying over $ 7.00 for it! Pretty ridiculous considering their most expensive dinner plate is only $ 6.00. I tried reasoning with them and asking them to substitute this for that, but they weren’t willing to be flexible. I’m not coming back.

My husband and I just got home with our Carne Asada Breakfast Burritos. What a disappointment! There was virtually no meat and very little egg. So dry and full of potatoes,(soggy French fries), that I could barely swallow a bite. My husband usually eats anything and even he refused to eat this. The burritos were inedible, so we ended up feeding them to our dog. Awful awful food! So disgusted, I took a picture and added it to their Unilocal page. I will NEVER waste my money on this place again!

The prices are great for the amount of food you get, but I wasn’t really impressed with the food itself. Their red and green sauces are GREAT, but you end up having to use quite a bit of it to add any flavor to the food. Their beans are very bland. The rolled tacos with guac and cheese are pretty decent. I really like their California Breakfast Burrito(as it’s quite different than what you might expect for a California burrito). The restaurant itself is very small, and isn’t always the cleanest. When it’s cold, they leave the door opens(even if it’s 50 degrees outside) which doesn’t make it very welcoming. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone eating in here — everybody seems to get take-out. Overall, it’s just OK for me. Decent service, good sized portions, and good prices, but the food is just OK in my opinion.

My first review was based purely on the breakfast burrito. I went to Salsa Mexican Food again last Sunday for either a late breakfast or an early lunch. I decided being 11:30 or so it was time for lunch, so I tried the carnitas burrito, which like most burritos includes salsa and guac, but no cheese. So being the lactose tolerant person I am what did I do? ADDEDTHATCHEESE. It just completes the circle for me. My favorite carnitas burrito is from a place a couple miles west of Salsa called Lupita’s Mexican Food. Why did I not go there instead? They’re closed on Sundays can I get on with my review now?! Taste-wise, the carnitas burrito here was almost as good as Lupita’s! I think what would make me choose Salsa over Lupita’s though is the VALUE of how much burrito you get for your money. The carnitas burrito here is a two-hander. Lupita’s has all the flavor, but size-wise it has much in common with the Lollipop Guild and the Lullaby League. Just… too small. So Salsa? You’ve moved up on my list! Thanks for the great lunch and service. I’ll be back!

Nino R. was passing thru so we met up for a quick meal. He suggested a breakfast burrito. Suuuure, I guuuuess… Although I’m not a regular breakfast burrito eater, I was down. We were actually looking for another establishment and ended up here. I ordered a CA breakfast burrito($ 4) and he ordered the special. I asked what was inside the CA burrito and the lady mentioned carne asada, potatoes, and eggs. I inquired whether guac was included and she said no. I then requested guac. I began conversing with the lady and she mentioned that Salsa had been in business for about 20 years and she had been employed for about 13 years. She was very friendly and personable. When the burritos were done being prepared, she brought over the burritos and salsa on a tray. The BB was OK. I’m glad I ordered the guac or else I would have found it to be on the dryer side. I did overhear another customer change his order to include sour cream as he knew the burritos are dry. Small establishment with limited seating. It is more of a to-go kind of place and cash only. I did notice that this shopping center is high volume with lots of traffic, and witnessed a couple potential accidents in the parking lot.

At $ 4, the special breakfast burrito is a value. It’s packed with potatoes, scrambled eggs, ham and bacon. But I prefer milk with my breakfast, not Pepsi. Actually, I think Pepsi should just give it up. They are the Reebok/Burger King of the soda world. Would anyone really miss the taste of Pepsi? Anyway, the burrito was very good and decent in size. But I’m not a fan of potatoes in a breakfast burrito. It’s just added filler and takes space away from the tasty ingredients(ham, egg & bacon). At Alberto’s in Murrieta, they don’t mess with potatoes… just the good stuff. Maria C. ordered the California Breakfast Burrito and I think she took a picture of it. Can you tell what was on the inside? Me either. For all you know, it could’ve been filled with brains and tongue and you wouldn’t be the wiser! The dining area is not large, so if you’re planning on coming with a large group DON’T plan on eating together. You will have to split into groups of four to fit into the booths. And if you need to use the restroom, head to the supermarket next door. Salsa Mexican wants you to eat their food with dirty hands and full bladders. The cash only stipulation is a bug. Only Peter Luger’s can pull that off without inquiry. These hole-in-the-wall joints need to step up. Alberto’s takes check cards baby, why don’t you? Say no to potatoes…

Three things to consider when going to Salsa Mexican food. 1 — Cash only 2 — Floor doesn’t appear to have been cleaned in weeks. 3 — The bomb ass breakfast burrito is worth the visit. I think it cost 3.80 and was loaded with ham, potatoes and eggs. It’s what this place is known for. The salsa they provide *red or green* are both good.
