Headquartered in Englewood, CO, Sports Authority dates back to 1928, when a local newspaper carrier started the Gart Sports company with $ 50 in fishing rod samples.

Sports Authority has been my go-​to place for sporting goods in Escondido for a long time. When it comes to basics in a wide range of sports, they got you covered! With the huge store, you’re bound to find a good selection of gear here!
With the convenient Valley Pkwy location, it’s my first place to stop for any sporting needs.

Spent a lot of money here in the past. Bought a pair of under amour sun glasses, 4 months later they break due to defect on the nose piece. I called to see what my options were. Very rude and unhelpful sales people. I spoke to multiple staff members and none were the least bit interested in helping me. They told me there is nothing that can be done. I ended up going to Dick’s sporting goods around the corner and even though they did not sell me the sunglasses, they replaced them for another pair of similar price and told me that they would handle the return with the manufacturer.
With this terrible service and uncaring attitude, I don’t see this company surviving much longer. DO NOT SHOP THERE!

Not bad, the store is very large and has a wide selection of products. The staff is not the most helpful but they are there. I got a really good deal on ankle weights and a yoga mat for my girl.

I came here after traipsing all over the local area looking for soccer cleats. Dick’s had 3 ugly pairs of women’s styles and the Esco Mall had nothing. Came here and completely lucked out! They had over 15 styles to choose from for amazing prices. I purchased a pair of Nike soccer cleats for only $ 45 — super cute too! Their other soccer gear was plentiful and priced better than any other local store. I will definitely be back.

went in to a store with no customers in it and had several employees walk by and no one asked if i needed help. went there because i didnt want to drive all the way to REI. wont go there again due to poor customer service. big 5 has much better service.

I don’t like sporting goods stores. I am not a sporty person. But recently, I went to Dick’s in Escondido looking for fishing supplies for a birthday gift. They had NOTHING. I couldn’t believe it! Not a single pole or bait thingy.
So I went to Sports Authority and lucked out. I got a really nice fishing knife, lots of different bait things, and plenty of other goodies for the gift.
The staff was friendly and the prices weren’t bad at all.

I actually showed up to play a round at Meadow Lake Golf Course and realized I forgot my golf cleats. Fudge. So I drove real quick down to Sports Authority to pick up some new ones. They had the same foot joys that I already owned, but in a different color for a good price of 44.99. I was able to get back in time to tee off. 3 star doesn’t reflect anything it is lacking, it is just your typical sports goods store, so it gets the average rating.

These guys had badly labeled merchandise and caused quite a bit of confusion when I tried to buy a jacket I thought was 60.00 that rang up as 90.00. They weren’t willing to work with us. Walked out and bought my jacket elsewhere.

Nice stuff nice layout
This place seems to have everything, but they didnt have what i needed. My fishing pole eyelets broke amd was looking to see if they had a repair kit. Nope oh well Sports Authority ill head to another establishment.

This store has a very unfriendly staff. When I went in there they were all standing around looking like they had nothing to do. No one smiled or greeted us. I don’t think I will ever shop there again.

I came in here recently to buy a fishing license and had a great experience so I thought I would throw some deserved compliments out to the staff here. I walked a lap around the store to check it out and everything seemed to be clean and organized. I saw a few staff members helping customers try out everything from running shoes to airsoft guns.
I did run into a snag when the Fish and Game computer they needed to issue the badge decided to stop working. The gal that was assisting me though kept her cool, apologized then engaged me in some conversation as the computer rebooted. She was helpful and apologetic, but not overly, and when I left she made sure to fish me luck fishing (which apparently didn’t help, but I wont hold that against her).

Bought a towable WakeBurner at the end of last season from Sports Authority. When I opened the package to inflate it, I notice half the valve wasn’t sealed to the inner tube. I spoke to the manager of the store, but he refused to replace it. I paid $ 150.00 for something made in China that was obviously defective, and obviously never tested. This store is full of generic off-​brand junk that is priced as though you were buying a name brand products. Thankfully Dicks opened across the street. I got a name brand O’Brian towable for less than I paid for a generic on end-​of-​the-​year clearance. Obviously other feel the same way. There are 6 manned registers at Dicks with at least 20 people in line, while Sports Authority registers are empty. Sure an glad Dicks opened, we needed a good sporting goods store in Escondido.

Selection is sparse here. After a disapointing all around experience here I found everything I needed at the Sports Authority in Encinitas. Also, the employees here despise your existence. Be prepared to fend for yourself!

Overpriced and the staff doesn’t know what they are talking about. I came looking for some biodegradable golf balls and they had no idea what I was talking about.
I’ve also come looking for snorkling gear which wasnt bad. They do have a huge selection, but their prices are kind of high. You kind of need to wait for the adds and then come in and find what you are looking for. This isnt a place to shop and try to find a deal.
You should know what you want before going in.
