The Classical Academy is an award-winning California public Charter School serving students in grades K-8. This tuition-free program is flexible and includes the best of homeschooling and the traditional classroom experience. Students have the option of choosing the learning program that best fits their needs; homeschooling independently, or attending class a couple days per week and studying independently on the alternating days. The curriculum can be personalized and is overseen by a California credentialed teacher. In addition to challenging academics, the school offers art, musical theater, clubs, after school sports, and family friendly field trips. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and has received Exemplary Independent Study Recognition. Test scores are among the highest in the district.
History
Established in 1999.
The Classical Academy was founded in 1999 by a group of parents and community members who desired to play a more meaningful role in the education of their children. The school started with 200 students and quickly grew due to the popularity of the program. In 2003, The Classical Academy opened its’ second school, Coastal Academy, to meet the demand of families commuting from the coast. Classical Academy High School was launched 2006 and The Classical Academy Vista in 2011. The growth of the schools led to the opening of Classical Academy Online in 2013. The organization’s mission is to partner with families to inspire each student to think critically, communicate effectively, and achieve success by providing academic choice.
Meet the Manager
Jalyn H.
Manager
Principal Jalyn Hall received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication from California State University, Long Beach and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Point Loma Nazarene University. She has taught in private and public schools for the last 20 years. She has taught multiple grades in both general education classes and special education classes. She has been with The Classical Academies for 13 years in a variety of roles. For the last three years she has been principal of the K-8 campus in Escondido.
