The Grand Tea Room

Had the pleasure of being served by Christian, what a prince! Excellent service with great attention to detail. Food was delicious and fresh — they baked the scones while we were enjoying our tea! Everything was fantastic.

I loved it. My daughter took me here for a late Mothers Day and it was just great. I really enjoyed it! The teas were awesome and the service was excellent.

What a wonderful experience with my little girl and her girl scout troop. Especially the fantastic gluten free options!!! Yum! Yum! Yum!

While on a Tea-​House-​Finding Binge, we discovers this place. Compared to Huntington Tea Room in San Marino (which is near impossible to get into — but we did thanks to a network of us calling in), or the Tea Room at the Mission Inn in Riverside, we liked this quaint place best.

What a wonderfully wonderful tea room!!! We just got done taking our mom and grandmother here for mothers day, it was exceptional!!! The service is outstanding and their menu is amazing, we all had the grand tea option and thoroughly enjoyed it, just be prepared that everything is so delicious you will have to bring some home.
The atmosphere is so elegant and we all loved the hat selection :)
The owner Louisa is incredibly sweet and kind, i purchased a scarf and couldn’t believe how lovely she packaged it.
I cannot recommend this tea room more highly, its a true gem in North County and should not be missed!

It’s so cutely decorated, the service is excellent, and the food is prepared with care and delicious ingredients. I get the impression that they pay great attention to detail, with everything! — from the furnishings and décor, to the music, to the art on the walls, to the presentation and serving of the tea and food.
There’s also a cute shop in the front where you can get keepsakes by which to remember your visit. I brought home an adorable green teapot painted to look like a frog, as well as a headband with a mini version of an old-​fashioned hat on top of it.

Everything was perfect for my daughters party. The staff especially Christina was so sweet and accommodating to all of our special needs within the group. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Last Monday I took my 5 year old granddaughter to have afterwards tea. She has had tea with me before, but only at our homes and she really enjoyed it so I knew she’d like this. We both wore hats and hadn’t made a reservation but we were promptly seated. The first thing they do is have you select your tea. My granddaughter had the children’s fruit tea– yummy; I had the Earl Grey which was the best I’ve had; I drank an entire pot myself and didn’t even need milk. My granddaughter shared the seasonal salad with me (greens, cranberries, strawberries, grapes, pears, feta cheese and the most yummy raspberry dressing) I also ordered the scones and petite desserts. It was a wonderful experience and my granddaughter told me that it was the best day of her entire lifethey have nice hats for guests who didn’t bring theirs. Next time I’ll wear one of these. The décor is so lovely and I like how the gift shop is separate from the restaurant so it is much more intimate. Other tea houses don’t usually have this feature. I definitely will be back and will recommend this place to everyone.

My Mother-​in-​law and I have been taking a tour of the tea houses in San Diego. So, far this was the best when it comes to setup, service, location and professionalism. We tried three pots of tea; all were perfect.
The green chili quiche and cream scone were excellent. One of our pots was a green pomegranate tea. It was light and refreshing (I’m going to buy it for a summer tea.) Christine was our hostess and was a gem. We didn’t have soup but it passed by a couple of times and looked delicious.
Here’s a tip, I saw someone having a split of champagne. We’ll asked about it next time. .yum!
We have made a reservation for Mother’s Day (I understand they fill up fast.)
So, in summary, we recommend the trip to this tea house.

Had the most lovely time!!! Everything was so fresh and tasty! The perfect portions and the tea was just out of this world good! Can’t wait to bring more people! This won’t be my last time that’s for sure!

Back in November was my first time going to this wonderful, amazing, pleasant tea room. Luisa is an amazing coordinator to what we were looking for a group of 50 ladies she did an amazing job. The food was also amazing, along with the tea. A lot of our ladies had never had any kind of tea or if they did were not to much fan about having a cup of tea, but when they try the tea they were mesmerize of how awesome the tea taste.
Thank you Luisa we had a lot of fun, we will definitely go back for a least a cup of tea or another event.

We had a fantastic experience here! I took my 3 young nieces and my mom to celebrate all their birthdays this past Saturday. The Grand Tea Room is just adorable and has the classic, elegant feel of a tea room without being stuffy or formal. We enjoyed the The Grand Tea and the Children’s tea. The china was beautiful and the tea was fabulous. The food was very good as well (my favorite was the strawberry scone). My only complaint is that it took a very long time to get served. It took 55 mins to get served the first course (fruit cup) and people/​groups that sat after us received their food first. I had 3 children (ages 6 to 12) and that is a very long time to wait (it is long for an adult to wait). The poor girls were so hungry that they were trying to eat the sugar cubes whole (I definitely wasn’t going to let that happen).
However, it was a great experience and we enjoyed looking around the shop after lunch. A good selection of beautiful china cups/​tea pot, loose tea and gifts. Definitely will be back (a good place to get a pot of tea and scones to share with a friend).

When you first come in, you enter their lovely little gift shop with too many things I want to buy. From tea related gifts, to tools and trinkets to help host the perfect your own home tea service. They also have all the teas that they serve here. It’s lovely to peruse everything if you need to wait a few minutes for a table, and pick up some tea on the way out!
Service was homely and friendly. I felt like I was chatting up with someone’s aunt Betty. All very friendly and full of recommendations. The room is on the older style of old sconces, garden hats, doilies, lace, and furniture. My boyfriend didn’t love the décor and commented that he was the only guy there. But the food and tea definitely made up for it.
To date, it is the only tea room my boyfriend has expressed interest in returning for the food and tea alone. Lace aside, the meal starts with fresh cream and fruit. Then comes in the triple tier of savories, sweets, and deserts. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! We ate too much and took some of the scones and desserts home. I FOUGHT FOR EVERY PIECE OF LEFTOVER.
I also ended up buy 3 ozs of the tea I tried: Earl Lavender. Love me some Earl Grey especially all the different varieties.
I can’t wait to go back!!!

What a sweet gem to have found today totally by accident! Yes, on the hottest day of the year, I had high tea. No regrets here, it was PERFECT!
The décor is just like some of the tea rooms I have experienced in London. It’s like stepping back in time when things were a lot more civilized.
The owner was just a delight. She gets that God is in the details, or is it the Devil, I never remember. I bought some of the delicious tea I had while there, and it was perfectly presented in a cute bag with tissue.
The pastry served with the tea was superb! All fresh made right there.

This was our first time there. They do have a nice little shop with tea accessories and tea for sale. And the restaurant portion of the store was very nicely decorated. The table were set very nicely with tea cups and pots. They even have hats in the back if you want to put on a hat while you are having your tea.
They were a bit busy when we walked in, and it was unclear where and with whom we checked in. It took over 10 minutes for us to check in for our reservation, as they only had one person who was working the store and checking in people. We finally got seated at our table, and had a wait for our server as well. Our server was very friendly but didn’t come by very often to check on us.
We ordered the Grand Tea which came with soup, fruit, a small tasting of a warm dish, a few finger sandwiches, scones and a few small desserts. It is plenty of food that is for sure. Plus you get a pot of tea of your choice. The tomato soup we had was very tasty, and the quiche I had was good as well. The finger sandwiches were just okay. They ran out of scones so we had to wait about 30 minutes for them to make fresh scones, once we got them they were warm and fresh. The dessert were fine, the cheesecake bite was the best the others were just okay.
The service was very very slow, so don’t be in a hurry if you go there.

My sister and I took our Aunt out for her birthday and she wanted to try The Grand Tea Room. They had a huge party coming in about an hour later but they were still kind enough to seat us without a reservation:)
It’s a beautiful and quaint tea room with many tables. In my opinion the perfect setup for a bridal or baby shower which I’ll definitely keep in mind for future events.
We had a great time and they made my aunt feel really special on her bday!

My Mom and I love to browse at the Escondido Antique Mall and had always admired The Grand Tea Room next door but had never made a visit. For her birthday this year, I picked up a gift certificate for 2 Grand Teas! Mom loved the certificate and promptly wanted to spend it on me. (What a good Mom!) I told her that she could treat Grandma and that I’d tag along.
Sporting our best fascinators, we arrived just a few minutes early for our reservation at 11:30 a.m. Louisa greeted us warmly and directed to us to a table over in the corner set up with beautiful china. Louisa also let us know that we could help ourselves to borrowing any hats and fun décor items they had by the kitchen in the back. We declined but appreciated the offer.
The three of us all selected the Light Lunch Tea ($ 18 each) which included a fresh green salad, fruit salad with crème, small sandwiches, fresh-​baked scones with all the trimmings and two pots of tea. Our Light Lunch Tea was delicious — and the French Caramel tea was spectacular. We had a great time feeling like we were transported to Downton Abbey for the afternoon and will definitely be back soon!

I was the bride to a fabulous tea party, surrounded by good company and enhanced with a amazing pots of tea and treats.
My friend is the one who suggested I try out this place and I’m so glad I took her advice. My bestie organized the event so I can’t speak about the RSVP part but I can certainly tell about the tea and food.
The place is adorable English tea house with the very quaint feel to it. I felt like I was in someone’s home enjoying a great pot of tea and conversation. To even heighten the experience, there were an assortment of hats and gloves that guest could wear. With my colorful group of gals, there was a perfect hat for everyone! I usually look bad in hats but the ones they had were not only colorful but very stylish.
The staff was so accommodating and helpful. They were very attentive to our large group and they even made some changes to the food since I was allergic to pineapple. Such darlings! They even asked if we wanted to upgrade our menu for $ 3 but we didn’t since we were satisfies with our choices.
We started off with a pot of the crème brûlée and adding a little cream and a lump of sugar (yes a lump! The little square pieces of sugar!) it was like having a dessert in your mouth. My friend Darline, whose Unilocal review is below mine, perfectly describes the taste.
Every tea we tried was steeped well and the finest quality tea. Each one had a very distinct flavor and I could definitely taste the different notes in each one. I also loved the buccaneer… hints of coconut and chocolate yet light.
The food was amazing too and complimenting the tea. Each tier was a great progression to light, savory and sweet. Starting off with a small cup of fruit with a spoonful of light cream was a good palate cleanser. The fruit was nicely ripen and juicy. I could eat more of those Concord grapes!
Everything from the tea sandwiches, quiche, berry scones with lemon curd, jam and cream to the carrot cake was tasty and filling! I thought I would have to eat prior to coming but I’m glad I did cause I was so full by the time I got to the third tier.
The staff made it real homely allowing me to open my bridal gifts I. Front of everyone. Even another table of ladies was watching me open my gifts. At the end, the daughter of the place took a group photo of the party.
Not at any time I felt rushed or underserved, it was the perfect bridal party and I would love to come here just to spend some qt time with friends.
