The French Hen

What a fun little store full of beautiful things a girly girl will love. It is easy to spend an hour in there! (Gentlemen companions you’ve been warned) My fiancé lucked out and I visited the shop with a girlfriend. ;-)
They carry In Love by Lollia which I really enjoy seeing, a ton of candles and a lot of other items that would make great gifts for your girlfriend or the hostess of the next brunch or dinner party you get invited to.
When you enter you are surrounded by a large amount super cute jewelry that looks close to some of the items Kate Spade offers. See my photo of the earrings I purchased that are remarkably close to the Kate Spade style… and French Hen’s are $ 12, you heard right, $ 12 bucks!
There were so many cute things but I was trying to be good. So I settled on the pair of earrings that were remarkably close to the Kate Spade ones I had at home.

ok i didn’t actually purchase anything, but my friend did. this store is adorbs and the price points aren’t outrageous for a small town. i could easily find a dozen knick knacks that were present worthy. my friend got her mom a gift that was carefully wrapped with lots of tissue paper and a bow. my friend likened it to the scene in «love actually» sans cinnamon stick.

I went here to buy a wedding gift. They carry the Mariposa line of serving wear which makes very nice wedding gifts. The store clerk was very helpful in selecting a piece and she did a beautiful job wrapping it. They have a nice selection housewares from candles to tableclothes. I would definitely recommend it as a nice place to find a gift for someone or find something unique for yourself.

So, I’ll be honest: I’m a dude and therefore I do not need 80% of the stuff stocked in this store. However, that does not detract from the fact that it is simply the best store in all of downtown Essex and probably in the Chester-​Deep River-​Essex area. Everyone is nice, the products are gorgeous and high-​quality, and it’s a beautiful little store in a beautiful little town.
I only didn’t five-​star it because I honestly don’t buy things there that often. It’s the sort of place to find some nice jewelry, great perfume or candles et cetera.
