The best Philadelphia steak sandwich I’ve ever had! Tasty, juicy but not greasy. I enjoyed the pub like atmosphere with many food selections for a pub. The waitress was great! Very friendly and patient with our large group. Highly recommended

Really good crab cakes. Hometown pub kind of place. Oksy Unilocal,beer was cold, whiskey was warm, crowd was local. What else do you really need to know?

The tots alone are some of the best I’ve ever had! Came here for lunch on a lazy Saturday. Unilocal reviews made the wife and I choose Monaghan’s. The bartender was friendly and everyone else in the place and who came in seemed to be regulars who knew each other’s names… Cheers!
My chicken cheesesteak was nice but needed more chicken, and the wife’s fish and chips were nothing special. The Cokes were always kept filled, and my beer was nice and cold. The tots, though, were to die for at just the right amount of crispness without being overdone. Even the bartender said he forgot they had them and wanted some himself.
Credit card machine wasn’t working, but they did have an ATM which the bartender told us prior to ordering which was nice in case we were expecting to pay with a card.
This Irish bar hit the spot and seems like a place I’d want to come to regularly.

Great friendly Irish pub ! Awesome cheese steaks great fries and Guiness ! The owner greeted us and bought us a drink. Wait staff was very friendly. When we stay at the Wyndham hotel this will be our go to spot ! Walking distance from hotel !

Overall outstanding experience! Absolute must stop if you get the chance. The service, food, establishment are all top notch. We had the fish and chips, a burger, steak and cheese… all were delicious. Oh and the beer was super cold. I bookmarked this place for a future recommendations.

Found this place after reading fellow Unilocalers reviews on a Sunday afternoon while waiting for a flight out of Philly. .met the owner watched some football and had some great food. …place is super clean and the owners make you feel welcomed. .overall nice place to grab some homemade food and enjoy a cold beer in a safe fun environment. .definitely recommend this pub!

Cheap cold beer… cant go wrong starting with that…

Its a bit loud, but hey… its a bar.

Very nice place I found while traveling on business. We had some time to kill before our flight home to St. Louis, so hopped onto Unilocal.This place came up, and caught my eye; my grandmother was a Monahan (no g… but still…) We came in for lunch and a few drinks, sat outside in some beautiful weather. Best hanging out at the airport by a de miles. Food and service were both good, with good local beer on tap. If I ever have a few hours to kill before a flight out of Philly again, would definitely go back!

Service was great and the food was delicious. Jackie was friendly and Danielle served my food with a lovely smile. The food was excellent! The shift change went off without a hitch. Joanna was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this pub!

Nice place! We stopped in our last night before flying back to Dallas and just wanted a couple drinks. This man came up to us to shake our hands and turns out he’s the owner! He also bought everyone a round of drinks. How cool is that!!! Quaint local bar with friendly service and a good atmosphere (:

Found this place on way home from airport… What a find! Great food, great people! Such a friendly and happy place. Loved the homemade buffalo cheese steak egg rolls! Will definitely return on our next trip to the airport!

The cheesesteaks here are a must try! They might be the best in the suburbs. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by quality of this place and we’ll definitely come back for the good food, good service, and affordable prices. The burgers and shepherds pie looked great as well but didn’t have a chance to try them.

This pub lies about three miles out of the way for those staying without a car in the airport interplex. It’s worth it if you can get out to Essington, right across from a shiny, clean Wawa.
Many enjoy a good smoke or a drink outside in the patio. Inside, it looks like an anonymous local bar you’d find in Smallville anywhere, too, but don’t let that fool you. I’m on a red meat avoidance program so I ordered the open faced turkey platter for pickup. One of the servers immediately asked if I was there for takeout and I took my prize home in the relentless summer heat in minutes.
The pale lifeless slices of white bread seem at odds with the flavorful gravy and piles of moist turkey breast heaped on top of them. The mashed potatoes are great and I finished my messy meal with much satisfaction knowing I paid less than $ 10. I hear the Philly cheesesteak at Monaghan’s is melt in your mouth goodness, but don’t know when I’ll be out there again to test that claim. A rare hotel recommendation earning the hype. Weird Asian girl sez «Check it out.»

Just stopped in for a snack around 9; nice-​size crowd for Essington. Really courteous and prompt staff. Food looks and tastes good. Mind you, I only ordered fries and a tossed salad (fresh vegetables (no brown spots or wimpy picks) and nicely executed fries (and a good portion of them, too!)).
Might have eaten in, except the bar smelled like, well, a bar and that’s not incredibly appetizing if you’re not drunk. The music wasn’t to my liking either, but I can hardly hold them accountable for my preference in music.
Barkeep was even nice enough to give me a glass of water while I waited. I might stop back in again before I go, seems a friendly place.

Great local pub. Best chesesteak. Bun melts in your mouth! Cheap drafts. Friendly staff.

Nice find in a quiet area.
I’ve been here twice now when staying over locally. Small place with an outside area. The bar is rather long so there is plenty of room. The two times I’ve been here it’s been quiet but that’s not a bad thing.

Service: good
I will say that the wings here are excellent! Non breaded buffalo is the way to go.

Cute little neighborhood pub that my BF found while perusing Unilocal.
He had cheeseburger platter and wings and loved both. I had Shepards pie which was full of beef and satisfying.
The beer selection was really really good. We marveled at how reasonably priced The beer selection was. Coronas for a song! Almost half the price of what it will be in the city.

This is a solid place to go for cold beers and decent, well priced food. I had the Shepherd’s Pie, it was spot on. The wife had the roast pork, also very good. The service was good; the staff seems to be generally hard working and social. I always say that consistency is paramount in every business. Monoghans has consistently been good, on many levels, in my eyes and deserves a 5 all around. They poured a perfect Guinness to boot. I am not always in Essington, but when I am, I am spending my money here.
