I’ve camped at this site may be 10 times in the past several years. Picking a site away from the highway will eliminate some of the road noise. it’s beautiful with easy access to the river. Lots of shaded campsites with flush toilets but no showers. Really peaceful and only about an hour outside of Portland so easy to get to. Good for beginner campers.

Our family has been camping here for the last several years, and it never disappoints. Quiet, peaceful, wooded area with easy river access. We’ve even thrown in a couple of crawdad traps with mild success. Bathrooms are well-kept. It’s a short drive down to Promontory Park where a lot of people put their boats in, though you can’t access by boat from Lazy Bend because the river is shallow and too far upstream. Can’t speak about sites with electrical/trailer hookups and such because we tent-camp, but all in all it’s one of our favorite places to camp without having to drive for hours on end.

We visited this campground in August, and were very pleased with our riverfront site(#7). It had a path leading to the water, and there was wildlife to watch(including little gray bunnies frolicking around the tent!). It’s close enough to Estacada to run in to town if needed – we got low on ice – but far enough away that you feel«away.» We felt a little guilty when we discovered there were flush toilets nearby… but were secretly delighted with that find. The only downside with this spot in particular was that the river access was extremely rocky. Great view though! And did I mention, BUNNIES?!
