A personal favorite of mine for hiking in RMNP, Lumpy Ridge is a go to all year long! Enter the trail at the trailhead located outside of the park off of MacGregor Ranch. You will need to pass through some gates, and will pass through personal property– Pay Respect! There is some healthy ups and downs on the short circuit that loops you back to the parking lot, but the views are fantastic, the scenery and wildlife never disappoint, it’s another beautiful day in the mountains!

Ok if you are from the flatlands like me take a few breaks along the way and go slow. My daughter and I are both workout junkies but the elevation made this challenging. Great vistas and places to eat lunch. Would go back and hike it again. It is a 3.2 mile hike round trip with a 1000 feet elevation gain. I figure if all the 7year olds could make it I could too and so can you.

This was a nice hike up to Gem Lake. It was a little bit challenging but not too long, so it wasn’t too bad. There are lots of sociable chipmunks at the lake trying to eat out of your hands.

Very nice scenery. You should be in reasonable shape. It’s a challenge. There’s a couple of areas you can hike too. We hiked to Gem Lake. It’s 1.7 miles from the trail head. It’s a beautiful area. Nice enough and room enough to do a picnic. Couple of open areas along the way for photo ops.
