Murphy’s Resort

Truly an amazing establishment and owned by people who care about people. Mountains and Colorado say enough… But caring staff and accommodations is something that is not naturally made! Truly amazed by their hospitality and accommodation to every need. They helped make us feel at home on our Staycation. Will recommend them any day !

First front desk Lady lizza is extremely nice & helpful. The lobby offers free movie rentals & games. Rooms come with DVD players. The grounds is very nice and clean. Now to the rooms. Love them. They are updated, fresh paint, new décor, comfy beds. Tv, DVDs player, fridge, microwave, coffee pot. Now to the bathroom. Very very clean balthroom. Shower was sparkly clean. I have no complaints on the environment of the hotel at all. By far a very clean lodge. A great place to bring the family.

Will not come back ever. I booked a nonsmoking room but the room has a strong smell of cigarettes upon our arrival. They gave us a different room but charged us upgrade fee because they don’t have the same type of room. When we got to the second room, the bathroom door was broken and the heat only went up to 71. It was not freezing cold in the room but not what I expected on my vacation. The continental breakfast was pretty bad. Room price is pretty reasonable but I rather get a chain hotel with the same amount of money.

So after a recently horrid Groupon experience with another hotel in this area, I have suddenly been reminded of the tremendous experience that I was given here at the Murphy’s Resort. This resort did not make any hesitation to treat us any differently than any other paying customer and they honored their Groupon voucher despite us having to change dates and re-​book. I do remember paying a little fee to rebook but I was glad to do it since we love Estes Park and were headed that way for a private photography adventure. We received an email confirmation after our purchase too, which I’ve recently found out is not necessarily custom for most hotels who participate in Groupon in this area. Upon arrival we were told that our original standard room that we booked was near a part of the parking lot that was under construction so they upgraded us to a Suite for free. They had movies to rent and my boyfriend and I enjoyed cozy-​ing up in the room with the fireplace glowing while we awaited our photography adventure through RMNP the next day. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will continue to re-​book here for many more mountain adventures.

I stayed at this resort in May of this year and they have lovely rooms, a beautiful indoor jacuzzi and YUMMY Breakfast! I look forward to coming there again in the Spring! Their service was top notch!

People are super friendly. It’s a small but cute place with lots of things to do. We were able to buy a bottle of wine at check. :) Score! We upgraded to the suite with jacuzzi tub! Breakfast was okay. No hot food just Cereal, muffins, pastries and yogurt. Would like to see maybe waffles or something you can toast in the toaster but plenty of coffee and juices. Place was clean and quiet. Nothing spectacular but not a bad place to rest for a night!

I didn’t stay at Murphy’s Resort, but booked a sip and paint class there for a bachelorette party. We had the best time! The staff were so friendly, helpful, and fun, and we loved our art teacher. They were very accommodating when things didn’t go exactly as planned on our end (we lost some attendees, some were late, etc) and it really felt like they pampered us. They even did a special class for us as we wanted to all create one giant painting instead of individual version of the same painting, and it turned out great! Big thanks to everyone there who made the evening so special.

My family rented the summit house for a week this summer for our vacation in Estes park. The house was very nice, very clean, a big kitchen for cooking, comfy beds, couches and chairs inside, and a large deck outside great for grilling with a view of the mountains. Something that we didn’t realize was that it’s not a stand alone house. It’s actually attached to the office and the resort’s friendly caretaker or owner (I forget which one) lives downstairs.
The resort has lots to do, it’s very close walking distance to a lake/​walking trail, there’s a pool, hot tub and various fun lawn games to try your hand at. The location is very close and convenient (across the street) to a pick up point for the Estes park free shuttle that runs often and will drop you off in town or connect to the hiker shuttle that takes you into RMNP.

My husband and I spent a week at Murphy’s Resort in their one bedroom suite with the jacuzzi tub! Throughout our stay, we were impressed by the friendly, helpful staff and the QUIET nights that are so important to us seniors. Upon our arrival, we noted that the room had a stale odor. There had been alot of rain recently. We mentioned this to the desk clerk, and immediately our concern was noted. While we were hiking, they used some sort of industrial air cleaning machine and when we returned and throughout the remainder of the week, there was no odor. Now that’s service! I highly recommend Murphy’s Resort for families. There are swing sets, pool, horseshoes, bbq, campfire location and we even had a guitar singing cowboy entertain us under the stars one night. Rodger Treat was staying at the motel and spent several hours in the rec area singing songs we all knew. He welcomed us to sing along with him. Tried as we may to find a song he didn’t know, we could not. Thanks Rodger! One morning we woke up to a pair of deer walking through the parking lot on our way to having a continental breakfast in a lodge type dining room, where you have the choice of also eating outside under the rising sun. We had great weather in early July with the occasional T storm in the late afternoon/​evening after we were done playing golf or hiking. We saw TONS of animals on this trip including elk, moose, deer, and marmots while driving through the National Park. Each day just kept getting better. Golf in Estes Park and Grand Lake was excellent. Returning back to our room, we picked out a DVD movie from their huge selection, or found a board game to play. I also liked that we could park our car right outside our front door. This was huge for loading/​unloading. Our room also had a small refrigerator and microwave so we could prepare meals if we wanted, and outside there is a small table and chairs for each room to relax and eat, read, etc. The feel of the motel is rustic/​mountain which is what I wanted in this setting vs. high end modern. Did I mention the jets on the jaccuzzi tub were very powerful and relaxing. We were provided with a special bubbly soap which was alot of fun as the jets created fluffy clouds of soap bubbles to relax in. And, there is hot hot water if you choose in the shower. I really like this as many motels/​hotels today monitor and keep the water to a certain degree. I like a really hot shower so I was very pleased with this. There are ceiling fans as well as AC in each room if needed. The beds were very comfortable, clean sheets and pillows were super soft and windows could be opened to bring in that mountain air. (Can’t do this in most hotels). This is also a dog friendly motel. We will definitely return to Murphy’s Resort on our next trip to the Rockies! Thank you to the manager and staff for a wonderful vacation there.

Wonderful place for couples and or families to get a quick escape from the city. This place has tons of activities corn hole, fire pit, a huge pool and an even bigger sauna! Clean rooms and everyone working here is really friendly and attentive!

What a fantastic place. I was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful view of the lake. The people are so nice and friendly.

Enjoyed every second. Such a welcoming staff. Even the grounds maintenance and cleaning people made me feel right at home. Mountain views from everywhere on the property and Lake Estes just an easy walk away. Exceptionally clean everywhere. I loved the breakfast room — good continental breakfast, but the layout, wonderful window views and atmosphere were great. It was only open for breakfast — wish it was open all day long just to sit and relax. But there is space in the lobby for that if needed. Nice barbecue and picnic areas and lots of activities for the kids and adults — too many to list. Updates have been made here and the welcome mat is out. What a great time of year (May) to go to Estes. Weather was perfect and there were no crowds.

My friend and I just visited Estes Park for the first time this week (April 20^th, 2015) We only stayed for one night but the whole process went smoothly and easily! The staff at the front desk was friendly and the proximity to the lake was great. It was a short walk to the lake from our room and the view was beautiful. The room was renovated, again, we don’t know the difference since this was our first time staying at the resort, and it was comfortable and warm for these Californians with a fireplace! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking to stay in Estes Park and if I ever find myself visiting again, I will definitely be staying here!

We stayed here over spring break and we loved it. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The continental breakfast was awesome, lots to choose from. The owners are some of the friendliest people you want to meet. We had our kids and dogs and they were very accommodating. Would recommend this place.

Excellent points: Best bed we’ve ever slept on and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. There was also access to great activities.
Good points: Decent continental breakfast and the room was clean upon arrival. We booked a lakeview room and the view was okay (just not what we expected), however, it may be better in the summer.
Things we wish we’d have known: Previous reviews mentioned the unattractive exterior. The pictures posted only show the outside of the lodge, not the outside of the rooms. The set up is definitely a motel setup and has a very motel feel. The room was also smaller than it looked in the pictures. It is further away from the park than we thought (it’s still pretty close though).
Overall: We would stay here again for the bed alone. If you’re looking for a great night’s sleep and a friendly, welcoming staff, stay here. We do not regret staying here at all and would recommend it to our friends.

Murphy’s has the greatest staff you could ask for (down to the detailed text/​email when we checked in late), newly remodeled room and lots of quirky charm (think themed rooms, movies for «rent» in the lobby complete with a popcorn machine and sip n’ paint in the lobby). Several of the rooms also have a view of the lake. It’s also very reasonably priced and a close walk to town and RMNP. Overall, a solid place to stay! When choosing between a Best Western or similar quality of lodging, I’d choose Murphy’s for all of it’s fun quirks/​perks.

Had a great 2 night stay here. Loved the décor of the room and the lobby.
Had a blast at the sip and paint held in the lobby. The staff was great and so was the living social deal we got.
We only live about 1.5 hour away so Estes is our little home away from home. We have a goal to stay at as many places up there as possible.
We definitely want to stay here again when it’s not all white and wintery out.
The location is perfect. Right before you hit town. Close enough to get to everything without having to drive through the busier sections.
Hoping to maybe rent the lake view house they have next time with some friends.
Highly recommend both Murphy’s resort and their sister Murphy’s river lodge.

We got a Living Social deal for a quick night getaway for here. The pictures looked great, so we said why not? When we got there the place/​grounds were clean. The entrance to lobby smelled alittle funny. haha. The gentleman at the desk was very nice! He told us about the upgrades (we just booked a standard room originally) and even gave us the lower price for a great upgrade. Two person tub, King sized bed, small kitchen, Fire place that sits in both bedroom and living room. The room was clean, smelled clean and pretty modern looking.
There is a pool (which was closed for season) and a hot tub. My only thing was the hot tub closed at 8pm. And the timer for the fireplace makes a noise. But no real biggy to us!
The resort is very close to downtown Estes Park. For this time of year a lot of stores were closed but a lot too were open with really neat things to see. Its very close to the Rocky Mountain National Park and Stanley Hotel (The Shining — were he wrote some of the story not where it was filmed).
You even get a free framed picture on the big wooden horse out front! It real cute.
Breakfast is included. Yogurt, cereal, toast, bagels, juice, coffee, muffins, fruit. It was good.
Definitely going to stay here again.
Room Tip: Our room faced the street and it was quiet. So I don’t think street traffic is an issue.

Honestly, you can’t ask for better staff.
The outside is a little dated and the is inside is VERY VERY VERY clean but also a little cheap looking. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star hotel though, so it was absolutely perfect.
The main thing you need is clean. And it is clean!
There is a free continental breakfast in the morning and be warned that the hot tub closes early. 9 PM. I was hoping to hop in after a night out but oh well.
If you buy the groupon for this place: the free margarita is not for Grumpy Gringo, or at least ours wasn’t. It was for a different Mexican restaurant.
ALSO: don’t get this place confused with Murphy’s Lodge. We did, and both places were extremely nice about it, though! They must get that alot.

Stayed two nights over the weekend. First impression was suspect. Driving into the area the exterior looked somewhat outdated.
Checking in the owners were extremely nice and accommodating. Once we walked in to the room we were very impressed. Recently remodeled and very well done.
Continental breakfast was typical — Muffins, bagels, danish, cereal, yogurt, coffee… Breakfast room was updated extremely clean.
FOR THANK VALUE– WE WILL RETURN!!!
