History
Established in 2006.
The name sure sounds Slovenian, but the food at Gostilna at Knezak is mostly all-American!
Gostilna was started in 2006 by Bob Edwardsen. He began in the food business in the 1960s, working for the old Beef Corral fast food chain. Since then, he’s worked for Stouffer’s and Bakers’ Square restaurants in management positions. Most recently, from 1998 – 2005, he owned and operated the North Coast Rib Co. in Mentor.
Edwardsen is at the restaurant daily and cooks meals to order. He serves large portions at reasonable prices and he’s proud of that.
«We’ve changed the menu three times already since we’ve opened,» said Edwardsen. «It’s important to change it up so people can come in and try different things.»
Edwardsen doesn’t consider the other restaurants around here as competitors. «A lot of them are my friends. I go to their places to eat. I think what’s good for one of us is good for the community. I think it’s important to have a good sense of community.»
