Dizzy dean donuts has been my convenient go to place for donuts. It’s closer to my house and near work. The donuts here are good, but sometimes they are a bit more oily than other places. Choices are really good. The bear claw and apple fritters are a few of my favorites. They also have some good deals at certain time of the week and time of day. Make sure to look for the hot donut sign… good time to go in an get a fresh one.

Some real great donuts. Dizzy Dean’s Donuts feature a toothsome, sugary glaze — that stays magically crackly even over the span of a couple days– and ensconces fluffy cloud-light inner layers of pliant, golden fried goodness. If you’ve lived and worked in Eugene long enough, you’ve probably experienced the unmitigated joy of showing up to work bleary-eyed, detecting slight hints of cinnamon and sugar from the doorway, and finding a box of Dizzy Dean’s waiting by the coffee machine– early morning gift of some saintly coworker. Make sure you grab a chewy cake donut *and* a fluffy, yeast-raised donut; both are good, and it does away with having to choose which donut to eat– invariably the worst part of any donut fest.

These donuts are better than Voodoo! I have to admit, that’s not saying much though. The atmosphere is classic donut joint, and the staff are friendly and competent. I tried a buttermilk bar, a plain cake donut, and a raised-glazed donut from the hot case. The buttermilk bar had a decent crispy crust and was flavorful, but not as melt-in-your-mouth as I like my buttermilk bars to be. The cake donut had a nice baking powder tang to it, was mildly spiced and had a good texture, but lacked any sort of crisp on the outside, which is something I expect from a good cake donut. I think the strongest part of the experience was the raised-glazed donut that had good texture and flavor but was only mildly warm, despite being in the case that promised«hot donuts.» All in all I would frequent them if they were in my neighborhood, but they’re not good enough to be worth going out of my way for them. Competent, but not amazing.

Best donuts in Eugene. Have tried Cal’s, Voodoo, Daynight, a few grocery stores, gas stations, also some places in my hometown that don’t really compare either. I haven’t hunted down and sampled every source of donuts in the Eugene-Springfield area as donuts are an occasional thing for me, and also because when I went to Dizzy’s my search was done. They carry all the standard fare — fritters, fruit-filled, custard filled, cream filled, cake rings with cinnamon crumb, chocolate crumb, frosted, frosted with sprinkles, french crullers, raised glazed, old-fashioned rings and bars, maple long johns, and in modern fashion have a few new types like maple long johns with real bacon on top, cereal-topped donuts(actually quite tasty), and a raised frosted ring with tart sprinkles and a Laffy Taffy(strangely delightful, these were my favorite for a while). There are some other odds and ends too. Highly recommend going during their hot donut times, and just getting a plain-frosted raised glazed from the warm case. And — this is important — eat it with a couple minutes of buying it, while it’s still warm. That, my friend, I would describe as world-class top-notch donut perfection. Even if you normally snub a raised glazed, if you eat a fresh-made warm one you will suddenly understand the reason for their existence and appreciate it on a cellular level. Another good thing: I don’t even get that«donut hangover» feeling from this place, it’s as if the ingredients they use are higher quality or healthier. I’ve tried enough donuts to know what donuts are about, and I fully expect to feel terrible after eating a couple donuts, yet I feel fine afterwards! It’s not as if they aren’t sweet and tasty, it’s not as if the frosting on the frosted ones isn’t exactly as sugary as you would expect(or demand?), or that the candy sprinkles on the candy sprinkled ones are somehow less candy-sprinkly… their donuts simply don’t leave me feeling like I need to convalesce. I usually stop at two, but even two is too many at some places. Other places, especially grocery stores and gas stations, seem to make excessive use of a kind of waxy fat in their donuts — that stuff that coats the inside of your mouth for ten minutes after you’ve finished eating. Dizzy’s DOESN’T leave me feeling like my mouth is coated with greasy wax. Maybe the French Crullers leave my mouth a *tiny* bit waxy, but the French crullers are so moist, light, airy, and flavorful — I feel like they are a different species of donut and I have no right to question their methods. Otherwise, haven’t noticed this pet peeve of mine at this place. Only tried their coffee once, it was what I expected from a donut place, decent, more of an accoutrement to the main event, and a vehicle for caffeine. I will note that I didn’t get coffee at what I assume is peak time. I always come in at night, not morning, and am usually on my way home. If I was starting my day with a donut, I imagine their coffee would do the job. They are a donut shop, not a gourmet coffee stand — they do donuts well and by golly, that’s enough. Over the years, I’ve been here probably twenty times, and don’t plan to stop coming anytime soon. It’s definitely not a daily thing for me, even necessarily a weekly thing, but I keep coming back when the mood strikes, and I sincerely think they are the best donut place I’ve ever personally tried in terms of quality and flavor.

These guys rock! They are some of the best donuts in town. The quality is good & they even use REAL cherries in their filling, so perhaps it’s even almost healthier compared to junk quality donuts hahh

It’s going to be hard to venture away from this place to try other donut shops here in Eugene. Delicious fresh warm donuts. Not super greasy(except for the apple fritter) and perfect moist cakey-ness. Doesn’t get better than this!

The best donuts in Eugene, hands down — and I’ve tried them all and even ventured to Springfield to compare. If you’re a simple glazed donut connoisseur, look no further. They are exactly what a glazed should be. Fluffy on the inside, and slightly crispy on the outside, with no soggy wetness underneath and just the right amount of sugary glaze. I typically buy the chocolate glazed and the chocolate sauce is rich and not too sweet. I don’t like cake donuts, but I will eat theirs because they are never dry or tasteless. I do appreciate the fact that their location is clean, the staff is friendly, and they have a little play area for children. Heaven forbid I drive by and see the ‘hot donuts now’ sign! I can’t resist their piping hot donuts! They don’t have a ton of specialty donuts, which essentially are regular donuts sprinkled with cereal, but that doesn’t bother me personally. Highly recommend this place.

Open late!!! :happy dancing: Best. Bearclaws. Ever. They always have a great selection, even when I run in 5 minutes before closing for treats to bring home. Mango jelly donut! Yum! Apple fritters are gigantic, donuts always taste fresh and not too oily. Righteous.

We happened to drive by this shop when we were visiting. I saw that they delivered and we couldn’t resist stopping by to see what they had to offer. We got a variety of donut holes, are favorite, but can be hard to find, and a Marionberry filled one. I scarfed down the Marionberry when I woke up during the night. I was only going to have a bite bur it was so great I just decimated it. And good to know that they deliver. It is a good idea that we don’t live by a donut delivery though.

Uncertain as to why this place gets such high marks. The donuts are average at best. Had a marionberry filled donut early this morning(when you’d expect donuts to be the freshest). The jam filing was good but the donut itself did not have much taste. Also had a maple frosted old fashioned which looked the part and had the right texture, but was lacking something in the taste buds department. Granted I have high donut expectations, but it wouldn’t be too difficult to substantially improve the recipes and step up their game. Wouldn’t come back here again. If you want to satisfy your donut fix, go somewhere else.

Love their donuts! Always fresh! This is always the place I go to when my family wants donuts! Just as good as the donuts sold in downtown Eugene! Parking is better also!

730pm on a holiday… They are open and the donuts are fresh… Some being put out right after we walked in the door. The bear claw is the cutest thing ever. Shaped like a paw with little toesies. It has cinnamon on one end and chocolate Inside the other… Just the right about amount of each. It was so soft and delicious. The knife just sunk right into it… That’s right… it’s big enough to share. Also had the mango filled. Not one I would get again but I felt like I had to try it. It was pretty sweet… But I knew that going into it. Maple bacon bars… cocoa puff… curlers… Blueberry cake… Bavarian cream just on and on… So many donuts. Cappuccino is just 25cents more than coffee. Oh and they deliver donuts and coffee anywhere in Eugene until 5pm. They are open until midnight every day. Even holidays. The people are friendly and seem to enjoy making the customers happy. Very good experience. Hooray! Bear claw!!!

Definitely will be back. Came here late in the night and they had fresh warm donuts. Customer service was good. Expect traditional style donuts not like Voodoo with all sorts of shit on top. They have a donut that’s like Krispy Kreme which was bomb. Open till 3AM on weekends and they deliver. Money

Open 24 hours and Absolutely the best tasting and freshest donuts offered anywhere in the Eugene/Springfield area. They have great quality coffee(BOYD’s), even my favorite Guatamalan blend. They offer so much variety, and very uniquely delicious offerings. I had a Cherry filled donut there the other day that was TOODIEFOR. Simply the best donuts ever! Don’t miss out! And to top it off the service is friendly. You’ll get a big smile with every donut!

Still searching for the right donut shop, see my other reviews One time, their donuts were great. The next time every donut we had was overcooked/brown. I will try again and hopefully they will be better

The service was great. They greeted us when we walked in. They were helpful in making recommendations of what to try. I always ask why they are know for. We tried a couple of donuts and had a cup of coffee. The donuts were good and made us crave more. They serve Boyd’s coffee from Portland. They Had a big selection. I tried the raised glazed and it was very good. It had a little more chew and body them most. This was good and different. Plenty of room to sit down and a play area for kids.
