Eugene City Bakery

I don’t eat their prepared for you type foods i.e. pizza, sandwiches etc. so this review is not a reflection of those at all. Their drip coffee is mediocre but if you get an Americano you will be extremely happy most of the time. Their bread is usually always deliscious, once I had a roll that seemed under baked, and there are always some interesting types that are nice to try. I definitely recommend this place if your in the South Eugene area. My biggest complaint is actually that I wish their hours were longer! I think that is a very minor thing to complain about though :)

Pretty solid sandwich but was kinda disappointed that they don’t offer a side salad or some sort of sandwich side option other than soup. The bread was spectacular of course and the sandwich was assembled with care. Very consistent. But idk about the freshness of that lettuce… The end of the stem was a little brown. I’ll be back sometime to give it another go.

They do not serve sandwiches after 2 pm. Drove off the freeway on a long road trip to try this place. #disappointed

This place is the bomb. Great coffee, awesome selection of homebaked deliciousness. Sit and relax outside and enjoy the street scene. So lucky this place is walking distance!

Got delicious stuffed croissants for very cheap near closing time! Pizza is great too. Highly recommend.

I usually don’t write reviews but I had some good hopes for this bakery and I went in to just get a granola bar and iced latte. The granola bar was great but when I got to the end of my iced latte, I found a piece of rolled up duct tape in it. I have no idea how it got there but I was really grossed out and it really ruined my coffee… Next time, please pay attention to the cup you all use because that’s really gross and just plain lazy to not notice a piece of rolled up duct tape in a clear cup.

Visiting Eugene for the first time, my Airbnb Host recommended this spot for quality pastries, and delicious bread.
After a long and grueling day running around campus & visiting various locations, I decided to embark on one of my final stops of the day: Eugene City Bakery
The service was both friendly & honest, and the food did not disappoint!
I was recommended the Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar, Vegan Pizza, as well as the Artichoke Dip (Came with bread slices & a complimentary tea)
Overall, I had a great experience & will most likely be back to try their other delectable treats and blue plate specials.

I so want to like this place because it’s my neighborhood bakery. However, I am done giving them chances with their baked goods which are quite pretty but leave something to be desired in regard to taste. Their bread is quite good but the baked goods leave something to be desired, as do their coffee drinks.

Coffee is ok, pastries are good, bread is fresh. Wifi is slow, seating is not very comfortable, and restroom is through the kitchen. Seriously, through the kitchen.
It feels like it’s primarily a store-​front, with a café tacked on rather half-​heartedly.

Just a brief update to my previous longer review, to say that Eugene City Bakery has the best croissants I’ve eaten in my life. They are so, so good! Flaky and a little bit of crunch on the outside, with a denser than most but really yummy and buttery inside.
On second thought, I probably shouldn’t have told you that. They’ll already sold out usually by the time I get there!

…a few consecutive disappointing experiences (both with service and with quality) at this spot has left me with that ‘ill give em one more chance’ mindset.

I visited Eugene this weekend for my birthday and it coincided with the Saturday Market’s first opening of the season. I knew I wanted to buy some bread or pasty and just happened to wander to the stall housed by Eugene City Bakery. There were a lot of good lookin’ goodies but I honed in on the croissants because once I saw them, that’s all I knew I wanted. They offered me the almond croissants but I wasn’t interested. I only bought three croissants but if I had had the chance to try it before I left their stall I would have bought the whole house down. There’s something awesome about their croissants. The outside is flakey but inside is kinda dense, not brownie dense but definitely a lot denser than croissants I’ve had before. And oh so soft. I like it. The end bits were so good, very buttery. These bad boys are not something you want to eat if you’re worried about the size of your thighs. I didn’t catch their name outside the stall but based on other stuff they were selling (whoopie pie, homemade oreos, et) I was able to look them up online. If I ever return to Eugene this would be the first place I will stop for breakfast.

This is a review for the numerous visits I made here in June 2011. I was in Eugene for a conference for 2.5 weeks, and I would start the day by walking half a mile to this wonderful happy land for coffee and a ham croissant (or some other misc baked good). Delicious expresso, so smooth and some of the best lattes I’ve had. Eugene has good coffee in general, but they were particularly good.

I lived in Eugene, OR for three weeks this summer per my husband, JT, who is from the area. This summer, we’ve been moving around a lot. We are pros at living out of a suitcase. In keeping this summer’s theme of living la vida vagabond, we crashed at one of his BFF’s place for our time there. I spent three awesome weeks of mornings exploring Eugene’s coffee shop scene, of course, always on the recruit for almond croissants. Everywhere I went, even if the shop offered an almond croissant, they’d point to Eugene City Bakery as the benchmark for Eugene’s almond croissant. Apparently, this is the only joint in Emerald City that makes their own croissant dough.
Upon entering Eugene City Bakery, you want to order at least five items (read: pastries) for breakfast. My commitment to eating an almond croissant for breakfast was nearly jeopardized by the sight of its sexy, cheese stuffed savory counterparts.
The croissant was buttery with plenty of air pockets. The dough runs thick, and one croissant gives you plenty of carbohydrates. Flaky would not be a word to describe this croissant, but ultra fresh would. The innards consist of pure almond (with skins) paste most likely made with sugar and possibly a dash of vanilla or hopefully rum. I would have liked more filling to hold up to the generous amount of baked croissant dough, but overall, I liked what I ate. I would not order this one again just because ECB has a large pastry portfolio and savory just may be the way to go.

I had a mexican potato, onion etc quiche. They said that they heated it but it was luke warm and hard and bland. Who makes Mexican food bland? I didn’t even know that was possible

The espresso and the nice employees behind the counter is probably why I like this place. And well, I love the daily muffin selection. I’m always in the mood for blueberry, but sometimes a funky muffin catches my eye and taste buds. I like the double chocolate ginger. The Mexican chocolate tear-​away is good too.
Though I must admit, I was a bit skeptical of this place because it gets really hot inside and it gets crowded. But, it’s always nice to walk into a warm bakery! I remember one time, I was waiting for a good long time and this guy just cuts in line, or rather, he just imposed himself by asking all these questions and then the guy behind the counter just bypassed everyone in line and helped him out first. That really bothered me, but whatever, it’s just baked goods right? We can all be patient. But apparently, not that guy.

I always come here to get the multigrain sourdough when we’re in town. But, it seems the quality of the treats, pastries, and other stuff has gone downhill snce my last review. The cookies are left out in a pretty display all day, and the next day, and the next, until they’re sold. I once saw a piece of cake in the case that looked really good, but when I tasted it it was dry and the flvor was that of a fridge. It kind of ruined it for me.
That said, the bread is phenomenal, and the whole cake we had bought was very lemony and nice (not tasting like a fridge at all). So, maybe the trick is to ask what was just made and to stay away from any lingering pieces of whatever in the case, no matter how good they might sound.
It would be nice if the bakery would put day olds aside so at least we’d KNOW…

My brother insisted that we try this especially since it was right around the corner from his apartment. When you walk inside, the first thing you notice is the friendly service. It’s a really small bakery and it was the first time I’d ever seen a manual espresso machine! I had to try a latte and upon first sip, I was sold. It was so good. The chocolate croissants were great but the raspberry sandwich cookie was only okay. It was 2 sugar cookies smooshed together with a raspberry filling on the inside. The sugar cookies were nothing special, and the raspberry filling was a little on the sweet side. The Oreo sandwich cookie however was pretty good. For the latte’s and chocolate croissants alone, I will come back when I’m in town.

Love love love this place for lunch. I never know what to get because everything looks and tastes hands down yummy. And then those trays of dainty little cookies get me every time. On a mission to try every last one. Home made oreos! Swoon. This place is the real deal and the people are sweet as pie.
I agree with the visitor from SF. I’m an LA transplant, and this place is as good as anything I’ve had in the city.

It’s all about the bread, our family loved it. Just once I ventured out and got a box of treats for a gathering; wasn’t impressed with the flavor at all. So, never got sucked into the looks of their desserts again. Stick to the bread, they do a great job on that.
I also love the Italian restaurant across the street … you must go!
