Your eyes deserve the best care you can give them and our office is dedicated to assist you in this goal. Having your eyes examined should be a pleasant and satisfying experience. In our office, we try to make it that way. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Dr. Phillips graduated from the University of Nebraska-​Lincoln in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree in biology. In 1998, he received his Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, IN.

Dr. Phillips is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He is an active member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association and the American Optometric Association. Locally, he is a member of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, Eugene Springfield Professionals and Mid-​Oregon Exectuive Association.

Dr. Phillips and his wife, Jennifer, moved to Eugene in 1998 so that Jennifer could pursue a graduate program at the University of Oregon. Like so many others that move to Eugene, they found that after a few years of experiencing the unique culture, activities and climate, there was no leaving. They have two children and a hairy dog.

Dr. Phillips is a primary care specialist who enjoys a wide range of modalities.

Amazing experience. Like one of the other reviewers, I was a devotee of Rainbow Optics because of their frame selection; however, I always felt their employees, while nice enough, were somewhat impersonal, so since I needed an exam and new frames, I decided to check Unilocal before returning to Rainbow. When I saw all the 5-​star reviews of Eyes of the World, I was a bit skeptical but decided to give it a try. And am I glad I did. Dr. Phillips was very professional, knowledgeable (even about Glaucoma, an affliction of mine) and extremely personable, with a contagious sense of humor, e.g., I mentioned the Unilocal reviews as the reason I had come, and his response was, «How do you know they aren’t all my cousins?» So after the exam, I began to think all these reviewers might be right. But it only got better. The frame selection was at least as good if not better than Rainbow, and when I found a frame I liked but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted, Melissa said she would do some research and contact me, which she did within two days, and found me exactly the frame I was wanting. The other staff my partner Leslie and I dealt with, Amber and Cherish, were equally helpful and friendly. This place makes you feel like you are a member of their loving family. Almost unbelievable these days, but it’s true. I give this business my highest recommendation.

Best glasses-​buying experience ever! The man who works in the front, I unfortunately can’t recall his name, was so patient and helpful. He kindly tolerated me for HOURS, while I tried on pretty much every pair in the store, and always gave me an honest opinion. It turned out that the pair that I wanted to get I had actually found across town at another shop, and even though Eyes of the World didn’t have it in stock, they said they would order it for me and do the frames + lenses for waaaay less than the other shop had quoted me. Whole thing was awesome and I love my glasses. Also, he always cleans your sunglasses for you if you have them :)

Since living in the Eugene area for the last 15 years, I have been to many different eye doctors trying to find one that I liked and trusted. Dr. Phillips and his staff are friendly and professional and I would (and have) recommend them to anyone in search of an eye doctor. It’s nice to finally find someone who doesn’t make me dread going in for an exam. As long as Dr. Phillips is practicing, I won’t be going to any other eye doctor again!

I just had the BEST experience I have ever had, hands down, at any eye care center ever. Seriously.
I’ve been wearing contacts for about 15 years and I have always dreaded going in for my yearly eye exam. I hate hate hate going to any kind of doctor… eye doctor, tooth doctor, doctor doctor… and I would gladly go back to Eyes of the World any day.
Everyone was amazing. The person I talked to when I made my appointment was friendly and asked the right questions so they didn’t even need my insurance card when I went in, the doctor himself was nice and had a fantastic sense of humor, and the woman who checked me in and took my payment was awesome — she saved me $ 35 in addition to making sure I used the full extent of what my insurance covered.

About a year ago, I walked in to get a pair of glasses that was missing a screw fixed. I’d never been there before, so I didn’t buy the glasses there, but they replaced the screw for free!

Wonderful experience! We have been searching for an optometrist that was qualified since we moved here from Calif. This is the 3rd place we’ve tried. Dr. Phillps was informative, attentive & friendly. The office staff is very nice & competent. I wish I had gone here first before going to Rainbow Optics! The prices are lower & there’s a great selection of frames. Go here & nowhere else!

Had a great experience here. Angela was super patient and helpful and helped me pick out frames that flattered my face. Dr. Phillips was patient and thorough and got me seeing way better than I have before. As far as the fitting, I was a little underwhelmed with the time the girl spent on it (usually this is a process as one ear is higher than the other and nose pad adjustments have to be made). It was not Angela who did the fitting but I know I can always go back if I ever need adjustments made. I love my new glasses!

I was a hard and fast Rainbow Optics customer but was referred to Eyes of the World and I’m not looking back. Dr. Phillips is kind, funny, and knows your name after the first meeting. He even told me that I would need bifocals soon and that they really suck, but I’d get used to them. I like that kind of honesty! Angela is amazing, knowledgeable, and a frames fitting artist. Their collection of frames is quite impressive and very design-​based from around the world. They are the best!

Eyes of the World is an excellent place to get your eye exam and glasses. Jerry is a pleasure to work with. Some of the things I put a high value on with a service like this are patience and understanding.
Normally I wouldn’t think to write a review of an optometrist based on 1 or 2 visits. However, in this case, I have actually referred many people to Eyes of the World and gotten nothing but really positive feedback from my friends and family.
In any case, if you need new glasses or contacts I’d recommend at least stopping by and giving them a chance. Good selection, easy insurance billing, excellent service.

I went here when I was at the University of Oregon and I moved away after I graduated. I honestly miss going here. Dr. Phillips and Angela always remembered my name and were very professional. Dr. Phillips is a great doctor and my prescription is still perfect! Great selection of glasses.
