Level Up Arcade

I’ve had two bad experiences at this bar unfortunately since several of my friends really like going here. First bad experience the guy bartender had a snarky attitude from the start and threw the quarters my friend was trying to tip him towards him saying «go give that to a 10 year old,» and strolled away. Second bad experience, I had misplaced my ID in my wallet and it took me a bit to find it and as soon as I found it and was let inside, they shoved water at me very rudely, insinuating I couldn’t buy more drinks since I’d taken too long at the door. It was my sisters birthday and she had a free drink and handed it to me to try. Out of nowhere the bouncer appeared, grabbed the drink out of my hand and rudely said «you’ve been cut off!» and left with my sisters drink. It was very upsetting as no one felt that was necessary so we left and took our business elsewhere.

Level Up is a good place to step in out of the rain and chill out with a fine collection of retro arcade games, pinball machines and other amusements.
Open to families from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the ‘barcade’ has a relaxed, family-​friendly vibe, a pleasant alternative to the garish Chuck-​E-​Cheesesque scene found at most ticket redemption arcades.
Happy hour is 3 – 6 p.m. daily and, as though drifting on high tide, a collection of hipsters moor to the u-​shaped bar draws, throwing back well drinks, chavelas, and microbrews.
Solid well drinks are the Greyhound (2 oz vodka and grapefruit juice), Sea Breeze (2 oz gin, vodka or tequila with grapefruit and cranberry juice), or Tequila Sunrise (2 oz. tequila, orange juice and a splash of grenadine). Dabble as you will. The bartenders deftly manage being attentive and laid back at the same time.
A little bad comes with the good during Happy Hour. Nearly the entire row of pinball games are rendered unplayable as afternoon sunlight cuts through high windows along the south wall. Players are left to hunch over the machines to duck under the blinding light.
Level Up offers good value. Many retro arcade games are still a quarter a play and most of the pinball machines offer five games for $ 2.

Love love this place. Great concept, good service and always fun. Just like the 80’s.

Fun, clean, great service. Lots of pinball machines & old school arcade games. Good selection of beers on tap and often when I’ve been in there they’re playing some of my favorite throwbacks.

I’ve been to Level Up several times over the past few years. Barcades are fun, and I like that they have air hockey.
The last time I went in was on Monday ¹²⁄₂₈. I was not impressed by the bartender’s attitude that evening. I came up and asked if they make hot toddies, and he rolled his eyes at me and said, «I guess so». I told him not to worry about it, but that I would need a minute to figure out my order. I asked if they had Fernet, and he acted like I was bothering him before grumbling that they don’t carry it anymore. It was a Monday night and it was pretty slow, so it caught me a little off guard that talking to me seemed to be such a big pain in his ass. At that point, I decided that getting a glass of water was probably going to be my best bet, instead of wasting my money on a half-​assed cocktail made by someone who clearly doesn’t want to make one.
To be fair, this is the first issue I’ve had with the service here. The blonde woman who bartends (or used to? been a while.) there is super friendly. The drinks themselves are definitely dive-​quality. The video game art is really cool. The lighting was also super bright for a bar, which felt a little weird, but whatever. Overall, I’m just not super stoked on this place.

Dude, this place is legit. Ditto, the bartender, chill dude. Knowledgable of all the games and such. If you are a product of the Atari, Nintendo, and Sega days (or any two button controller game console) this is the place.
Would be nice to see a Tornado Foosball table, but all in all 5 stars and a mos def recommendation.

Love this place for the selection of games, pinball machines and pool tables. The only issue I had (the last time I went anyway) was that the bartenders seemed a little off. One didn’t know what a finger of whiskey meant and the other put soda water in my old fashioned. Not a huge deal, didn’t spoil my experience but could use some work there. Staff is very friendly and easygoing otherwise, games are perfectly cheap and it’s a good place to hang for a while.

A great bar staffed by good people. Great space and games. Don’t come for the food, it’s about having fun in the moment.

How awesome is this place? Amazing geeky décor, great selection of retro games, a huge wall of pinball games, new arcade games, pool, the only way it could be more fun is if they had some claw machine games! The only place I know of where you can have lots of fun for only a couple of quarters!

Just took a big road trip to visit all my barcades in the surrounding area. I live in Salem, so the Coin Jam is my local bar. Having said that, this place is great! They have quite a bit more floor space than the one in Salem. Plenty of games, lots of pinball and two air hockeys. They serve mixed drinks as well, which is good. Finally felt good to drink a white russian like Lebowski while I played pool. The games are dirty. The food is bad. The bathrooms are disgusting. But it all felt right for Eugene. You can tell the owner has built this place to accommodate the Eugene College Kid trash. So, it fits very well. The artwork on the walls was pretty badass too. I saw a Greedo sitting with Han Solo piece on the wall which was about the coolest thing ever. Overall, my second favorite barcade.

This is one of, if not my favorite, bars in Eugene. The bartenders are absolutely wonderful. Special shout out to Chino for being incredibly nice and providing the best service of any bartender in town. I always have fun whenever I’ve come down and I’ve never had a bad time. Food is good, better than most of the typical bar food you’d see, and there’s more variety than most. Plus the general clientele is pleasant-​I don’t ever feel uncomfortable. There’s always something to do and the drinks are fair priced. This place is always my go to when I want to go out-it’s at least my starting point if I do a bar crawl. It’s an honestly great place. If the manager or whoever is reading this, you should give your bartenders a raise or something. They keep people coming back!

Good mix of music. It feels a little odd bringing kids, but great for us parents who wanna chill after work.

This is like my favorite place, beer and video games are probably the best thing ever. Air hockey and pool then play duck hunter is a.great.time
They have karaōke too!!!

Chino is a gentleman server and makes great drinks, promptly giving equal service to all! My issues start specifically with
the guy with the glasses; he is very rude and ignores everyone with money to spend apparently and costs the business customers and multiple drink orders due to his lack of professionalism. Probably won’t return often, due to an unwelcoming feeling.

Best place for games and beer in town. Lots of old school classics, pinball, or even guitar hero. The friendly staff really make it enjoyable

We have stopped at Level Up Arcade a couple times now. The first time, we were looking for something to do with our 9 year old on a Friday evening while staying nearby. He loved everything about the arcade. There’s a great mix of both newer and vintage games, including a vast row of pinball machines.
It wasn’t overly crowded and we ended up there, just in time for the last 15 minutes of Happy Hour. The bartenders were great — super friendly, attentive, and helpful.
We try to make it a point to drop in, even if we’re merely passing Eugene enroute to somewhere else!

I can’t believe that before last night I had never been to this place! It was suggested by my boyfriend after a spontaneous dinner date to somewhere we had never been. I guess we were just feeling fun, haha!
We both drank margaritas all night, which I was unsure of getting at first because some regular bar margaritas are NOT good. These were! The bartenders were so friendly and made really good drinks!
It wasn’t too busy for a Friday night which was fine by me because I would hate to have to stand behind people to play a game. We played pinball, pacman, basketball, air hockey, racing games, pool. It was a lot of fun and I would definitely go back! The place is huge and they have tons of places to sit off to the side to talk, drink, etc.

Went here to round out my night in Eugene. A bunch of locals suggested it to us. It’s one of the only places in Eugene open until 2 am. Nice tap selection. I probably shouldn’t be surprised by this too much though since Eugene has got it going on. Good cider choices too! I’m usually not a cider gal, but the hop cider intrigued me.
Anyway, hip place with games and pinball machines of all kinds. I kinda freaked out when I saw Star Trek pinball.
I failed at skee ball. It was one of the hard machines that makes it impossible to hit the 100. Seriously, I can usually hit it twice in a round. I may have been inebriated too.

Awesome place for beers and games! Happy hour specials on beers are great, less than $ 5. It’s a pretty big arcade and spacious as well. I can only imagine this place being filled up during the night time and/​or weekends. This place beats coin-​op in SD no doubt and it’s twice if not more the size. It’s a cool & fun hang out place with friends for drinks & games.

No, just no. I came here on a whim for the first time and last time a few days ago. Never again. I have been fighting the urge to come here since shortly after they opened as I love Blairally a whole bunch and as a native to Portland, love Ground Control. But this place while neat-​o looking just doesn’t cut it. the staff is not knowledgeable about what games they have which is frustrating.
Here’s how the 12 minutes I was there went: I ordered a beer then, grabbed a dollars worth of quarters out of their change machine looked around for Asteroids but couldn’t find it. So, I asked the bartender if they had Asteroids. My question was met with a blank stare followed by the bartender telling me ‘I think it’s here as an option on one of the Mario Bros games.’ You’ve got to be kidding me. I could be wrong, but in what universe does this combo even exist? If you don’t know just say so don’t make something up. ugh.
