Kenneth N.
Business Owner
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Japanese Nisei (2nd Generation American) Parents. Educated in a «public-supported college prep school system» called «English-Standard» schools by passing an oral exam to transfer from a neighborhood school’s kindergarten into the first grade at Kapalama Elementary School which fed into R.L.Stevenson Intermediate and finally to Roosevelt High School. He (and his favorite teacher, Miss Rose Tan –3rd Grade) knew that he should become an architect. He wrote a 24 page career study on architecture with a two-point perspective drawing in color of his home in Honolulu on the cover.
He also wanted to be a structural engineer so his early course work at he University of Hawaii included courses in art, architecture, and pre-engineering. When he tranferred to the Univesity of Oregn he took ALL the courses in the «Design Option» and the «Structures Option». He joined the US Air Force Reserves and finally went back to the UO to receive his B. Architecture in 1968.
