Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life

This place is awesome. Broken spoke replacement cost is better than most other places I’ve called or been too, and they are very friendly, honest, and willing to make the job right. I’ll be coming here anytime I need some work done on my bike, or purchase bike accessories.

After my first Oregon Country Fair, I decided to come back to Eugene and see if the people of Eugene were as nice as my OCF experience. Paul’s was a barometer of the generosity, kindness, and excellent service that the people of Eugene exhibit. My rental bicycle on 2 different trips was in excellent condition, very reasonably priced but the many people who helped me in the store made it a memorable experience. Which is why I now live in Eugene and will always come to Paul’s for my bicycle Way of Life.

This Paul’s location, REI, and Bicycle Way of Life are the go-​to for commute cycling in Eugene. The sale prices at Paul’s rival what you can find on the Internet, although the other prices are strictly MSRP. The Mechanics seem to be newer and don’t stay long, but also seem to know what they are doing. For tricky problems, I try to catch Guy at REI.
Good local company close to my house. It’s one of the reasons we decided to live near Amazon.

Excellent experience going here. I needed a tune up and asked for them to put some sort of cargo toting device on my bike– they talked to me about putting on a back rack and I agreed. They explained what they were going to do and how they were going to do it– I know nothing about bikes and found this very helpful.
I was quoted 90 dollars for everything I was having done, tune up and back rack. They called me the next day and it was done — I went and picked it up and the whole thing cost 60 dollars! Excellent!
Timely. Underbudget. Friendly.
I will definitely be returning when I have more bike woes.

My daughter moved to Eugene for college today but her bike couldn’t shift gears. They took a quick look at the 25 year old maintenance neglected bike and quickly deduced the problems– sticky front and back shifters and a non-​working derailer. They fixed everything the same day and works like brand new. Being from California and dry weather, the mountain bike needed some fenders for the wet Oregon winter. They had a nice selection of fenders to choose from and fit the bike like stock equipment. Best mechanics, great customer service, and reasonable prices.

I live near the Alder street shop, so I got very lucky in having a great bike shop just down the street. The employees there are friendly, quick, and very knowledgable.
They helped me keep an old and decrepit bike up to speed until it finally called it quits (stripped bottom bracket). That was two or three years of visits to them for little things. Always able to talk about problems or fixes, and always bending over backwards to give me the cheapest repair price possible.
Compared to other shops in the area, Paul’s blows them out of the water.

Have had a few repairs done at their new super store on charnlton. Mostly wheel and hub work done on different bikes. I generally have felt good bout using locally owned bike shop, but pretty much done with this one as long as the manager Michael is in in charge, he is an absolute jerk to deal with in person. Most of the guys seem pretty friendly and helpful but a person could defiantly stand there for a while, especially if its obvious you didn’t come down from the hills to spend a $ 1000+ on a new bike.
First job, I leave my wheels there for a hub adjustment for two days, I finally go to pick up and wiggle it and crazy loose, mechanic has to take it back and adjust it again another half hour of standing there. Should have been done right the first time. Couple weeks later took my kids bike in with hub axle issue. Picked up the next day get home shake the wheel so loose! Fed up take to the west 11^th shop and they tell me it shouldn’t have left the shop like that and it’s damaging the hub, said they’d fix for no charge.
Maybe the new super store should just slow down a bit, get some quality mechanics in there and take a class in customer service mainly for the manager. Sucks cuz it’s my closest shop and often more reasonably priced than Collins or Hutches.
Do Klink on river road, he’s just one guy who seems to like what he does.

Man this place is so cool if you like bicycles. My friend had Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life fix her bike and they did an awesome job! People were really friendly and the service was much cheaper than we anticipated. Overall, my experience with its price and service is really good and would love to get my bike fixed here if possible. Darn only if I lived in Eugene…

I had not been riding my Cannondale bike for a month or so since the chain and gears have been messed so up. I know very little about bike mechanics, but when I took it into Blue Heron last November, they failed to really fix the problem after I paid like $ 60 (? something like that) for a complete tune-​up.
I rode it up to Paul’s today in desperation and an employee met me in the parking lot to ask what was going on with my bike. She had just gotten there and took it right back and went at it for 10 minutes. She replaced the chain and tweeked some parts and it’s a LOT better than it was. Shifts smoothly. No charge! Service can’t get any better than I just had. Thanks, Paul’s

Got my flat tire fixed here for $ 10 and about 15 minutes. Anna noticed a couple of parts on my bike were loose and fixed those too while fixing my tire at no extra cost. I found the service fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Especially since it’s right down the street from my house, this will definitely be my go-​to for bike repair.

Poor service, terrible merchandise, fairly unknowledgable staff. All I wanted was a tire, tube, and some bar tape, and they failed on all three counts. Tires were terrible, tube is garbage, and they didn’t have colored cork tape, only gross gel stuff with the bontrager logo stamped all over it. It would seem this level of suckery would really take some serious effort. God I miss San Francisco.

Tires flat? Paul’s got the cure.
All I need is a little air in the tire. Nothing fancy, just a quick stop and short «pfffft» from the compressor spigot on the side of the building and I’m good to go.
It’s the little things that make this a good bike shop.
Yeah, the service is friendly and knowledgeable here but that should be par for the course in a bike town like Eugene. The store isn’t huge but it’s packed. They usually have everything or can check pretty quick the computer database to see if their other stores have it.

This is the bike store I always go to for my meager bike needs. These guys are really nice. I don’t know diddly about expert level bikes but every time I go here they take care of me.
I bought a unicycle here once. Good uni for a good price.
I came with some scooters with odd valves and they knew how to change them out. They were happy to box-​up some bikes for travel to Europe and they made it there undamaged. Need air? Just ride up and get some.
Great store in a quiet location.

I haven’t ridden a bike in about 15 years, but since Eugene is so bike-​friendly, it seemed like a good time to try it.
My wife and I bought cruisers for commuting here, and the experience was very straightforward: low-​pressure, good selection, and an extremely helpful staff (Tom in particular). We ended up spending considerably less than we had thought we might, but got exactly what we need (I hope!).
