This is a great place to go for breakfast. We love the selections. big portions. Love the biscuit and gravy. This is a large place so not a wait usually. Service is good. This is our Sunday spot because there is no wait and the breakfast menu is large.

Food was low quality, service was slow. They were distant and unfriendly. They seem to not want customers who are not blue collar or older white people. It took ten minutes for us to get greeted by our server. Cheap food for people on fixed incomes.

Country cooking at its best. I had the chicken fried steak and it was fantastic be sure to ask for the cornbread and if you got room for dessert go ahead and get it, but I did not. I’ll be back for breakfast because it looked fantastic as well. Super friendly staff.

Solid 3 star breakfast. Huge portions. I shared the combo special with my dad and it was perfect for us. They make a mean biscuit with gravy! My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. I do wish they would serve real butter. I also wish they would serve your food on something other than a plastic or melamine plate. This place has a diner feel, but would the owners please paint the walls any other color than that depressing grey? Service was great, but I much prefer the Hulen location as far as the interior is concerned.

Came across this Café as the other two breakfast places had an hour wait… and I’m glad I did! It’s got a hometown feel, the service is pretty good. Looks like there’s constant traffic as well. The food was AMAZING… not to mention the biscuits… OMG I couldn’t stop eating them! They are fresh and slightly buttered and DELISH! They offer turkey bacon which made my day! It’s not on the menu but they do offer it. They keep your coffee cup full and your belly fuller! The price is pretty good for what you get, there’s a lot of food coming out so be ready and be hungry!

I have to echo what another review said that the layout of the restaurant is bad. There is a three foot space between the front door and the cashier. To make matters worse, there is a pie case by the front door as well, further reducing the available space. They were not busy when I was there so it was not an issue, but it has to be a major problem when they are busy. I had the Mexican burger which was very good. But it came with pickles which the waitress told me was NOT on the burger and I did not want. There were a ton of fries on the plate which were great. The burger had a thick piece of meat and tons of chili on top. This is a very good burger. The waitress was inattentive and my water glass sat empty most of my meal. Once she brought my food, she left the check and I never saw her again. The place was dead with only one other party when I was there. One waitress kept going outside to smoke and then coming back inside and serving food to the other patty without washing her hands after smoking. Gross! Good food-poor service. Only 2 stars for lousy service.

Every place has there bad days, but I am kicking myself a bit for not truly listening and believing several of the reviews from other Unilocalers. First, the restaurant is set up very awkwardly. You pay upfront with a cashier that blocks the door. So when they are busy you are constantly being hit and bumped or saying excuse me while trying to get in the door, trying not to bump those waiting to pay, and staying out of the line of fire to the kitchen. It was annoying. Second, as many reviewers mentioned… the restaurant was filthy. There was food droppings all over the floor, the tables weren’t well cleaned, and my friend was served water in a dirty glass. I should have let that be my sign and I should have left. Third, I didn’t realize job large the biscuits were. So in error I ordered an extra one as I wanted 2. The bonus was, when my food arrived I was so excited by how big the biscuit was I didn’t need another one, but the fact remains they got my order wrong and I had to have them remove the missing biscuit from my ticket. Also, it wasn’t cooked all the way. It was doughy and nearly raw in the middle. Last but least, the food was simply mediocre. It wasn’t horrible, it wasn’t great. But when considering all the other factors I won’t be back. It is a shame, I had been looking forward to trying this place.

Went here the other day for lunch with some friends and was not disappointed. Had the chicken fried chicken which was DELICIOUS and some great okra and green beans. Service was just a little slow, but we waited on a late friend(he’s always late) for awhile so it’s not a big deal since she came by multiple times before he arrived. Overall, if you’re in the mood for some homestyle cooking or a nice diner this is the place to be. Reasonably priced as well. Burgers a little expensive.

I was on the way to DFW Airport to catch an early flight and wanted to stop for breakfast before boarding the flight. Dixie House was on the way and it was a perfect place to stop for a «warming» breakfast in my tummy. My wife ordered French toast and I ordered a traditional breakfast with two eggs overeasy, bacon, biscutis and gravy and all the fixing! The eggs were cooked perfectly and my wife’s French toast was prepared just like she liked it. Service was quick and we never lacked for anything at all. Having breakfast at Dixie House was the perfect start to my Las Vegas adventure.

Let’s get straight to it– the desserts here are excellent! I had dinner here and the food was not so memorable except for the rolls. However, the apple pie and coconut pie were the best I’ve had at a café. We now stop in from time to time just to grab desserts to go.

This place was really good! We had breakfast. Never had a biscuit so huge and delicious. I’ve all ready picked out my lunch for next time: baked chicken with dressing and I must have the cabbage and black eyed peas! Nice place. Great staff. Everyone there wants to make you happy. So for some of the not so great posts-all the customer had to do was say something! It would have been corrected. And for the refill poor post again say something. They aim to please and keep your business. Today was first time but one of many yet to come. And the deserts looked great but breakfast was so generous I had NO room for it! It’s a must go if home cooking is something you like as well caring staff!

My daughter took me to lunch here last week(7÷12÷15). It was very good!!! Went with one of the specials of the day. The pot roast was great! Daughter had chicken fried steak. It was well worth the visit. I would very much recommend this place!!! Just good Olé comfort food. Be sure to save room for dessert! The wait staff is very attentive, and do a great job!

Quick service, friendly staff. Food is good. Mashed potatoes are excellent, as is the fried okra. They give you a large portion of a lovely meatloaf. Their chicken fried steak was mostly breading and was tough. My father in law loves their old fashioned hamburgers and fresh cut fries. It did look great. They have a large selection of desserts as well, which I cannot comment on since I have not tried them, but they did look appetizing Only other thing I noticed is one of the waitresses wore a pair of short shorts. No one wants to see all of that.

Just returned to this Dixie House for the first time since its re-opening. We are not likely to go back. Both my husband and my orders were completely wrong. No offers of discounts or comps. The place was nearly empty so being busy was not the issue. The food was extremely greasy and the waitress was either poorly trained or did not care about her service. I am completely disappointed as I frequented this restaurant many times but this was my last time.

This place would have gotten a 4 – 5 star rating if not for he lack of attention to one simple thing… REFILLS. This was my third visit and I have ordered the same thing all three times. I really like the food and the people are very nice but their service is not so great. The food has come out on point every time. The only complaint is the do not know or understand the meaning of refills. My coffee and water never get refilled without me having to flag someone down and ask for it. If this is not an issue for you then I recommend this place. I’ll continue to eat here and hope that they can improve on their Refilling skills.

Pretty good for a diner, I had a chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were really greasy, but they tasted good. My burger fell apart. It’s typical diner food, but you’ll be satisfied. They have everything and serve breakfast all day. They also have a ton of pies and cakes to choose from!

Simple food with simple prices and exceptional service. The food here is your standard diner fair with the one exception of excellent desserts. The one additional Key differentiating factor this restaurant is the unconditional exceptional level of service provided to customers. The staff works cohesively each person as they are walking by check on the tables whether you’re in their section or not. Management is clearly available checking on guests throughout the meal and at the end. I have eaten in four star and five star restaurants and received lower quality of service. with a few additions to the menu this could truly become a destination restaurant, as it is a good place for simple good foods.

Hometown food, very small menu, prices just a bit more than Denny’s, far better quality. Incredibly attentive and friendly staff and servers. In a rush, worth stopping by.
