Fin-N-Feather

There’s a lot of good things about Fin n Feather. There’s plenty of workers, the fish room is beautiful, they have foster animals occasionally, it’s a clean enviroment. My only complaint is that the workers are not as knowledgable as I would expect pet store workers to be. If you’re going to make a career out of selling animals, I feel that you should know basic facts about them or at least have a care books to reference from. On two separate occasions I was given just plain bad advice from workers. The first time, I was preparing to buy a ball python. I came in to talk about its specific care and to talk about any supplies I might’ve missed. I had done a ton of research already so I basically just wanted to confirm things. The worker told me that «because we live in Humboldt, you don’t need to worry about humidity». About a ball python. Who lives in an enviroment that has 70−80% humidity. He also told me not to change the water daily. The second time, I came in to talk about food options for my Syrian hamster. The first girl I talked to didn’t even try and called over the «rodent person». The rodent person didn’t know what my pet was, despite it literally being sold in FnF at that time. We were standing next to the tanks they were in. (Not to mention that they had multiple hamsters in one tank. Hamsters are solitary creatures.) She did give me good advice on food but not before she suggested I not get a ventilated wire cage and instead get a plastic tank with solid plastic sides that was perhaps 16 square inches.

I have shopped at Fin and Feather for ten plus years. The staff has always been friendly and helpful with all or our pet needs. Our pets have ranged from large dogs to cats to birds to fish to geckos. The fish I have purchased there have all led long and healthy lives. I always recommend Fin and Feather.

Great for everything you need healthy and pet smart the staff was outstanding and everyone was helpful and kind! I loved the selection for my dog she eats grain free and chicken free because of her allergies and she got everything she needed here! One stop shop for food and toys and specialty high quality good price top brands!

Very helpful and friendly staff.
Good assortment of flea products. I found a natural spray for the carpet that really seems to have worked.
They also have a wide selection of toys, leashes, harnesses, food, treats and other supplies on one side of the store and the other side has everything you need for your salt or fresh water aquarium.
When I am ready to set up my reef tank again I know where to go for supplies.

I love this pet shop! My parents shopped here when I was a kid, loved it then too. Now I take my grandchildren here and they are so excited when they know this is our destination. Great employees, always willing to take time to help me with any questions I have, Especially thankful for the guys in the back that are so knowledgeable about saltwater tanks and always willing to walk/​talk me through a problem whether I’m there in person or on the phone. Thank you Mike, Dean and Josh for all the many, times you have problem solved my tank, fish and coral issues. Your help has been detrimental in my success as a saltwater hobbyist.

Loved the service last time, so we cam back and again got WONDERFUL/​knowledgeable service by John. He helped answer all my saltwater questions on my new tank and directed me towards new softies and their care. Packaged up for our 6hr ride home all were happy and healthy apon arrival and are still doing great. Everything opened, Fish is very social. Will go back to again with NO hesitation. Love the store and its exceptional workers! The counter lady (loved her red hair!) helped me out with my box… Soooo cool!!!

Great local and family run pet store! Caring, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Convenient hours. They carry a good supply of equipment and food for pets. Their extension store and Furr-​Perfect grooming service is a nice addition.

Best and most established pet store in eureka. Family owned and operated, they have everything and are more than happy to special order anything you need. Awesome friendly staff, local products, great fish selection, and always the best service. Highly recommend for all your pet needs. Now with a sister store across the street that is a boutique with dog washing services available. Awesome addition to Henderson center

Today I couldn’t find something they use to carry: they offered to special order! They rang me up and I was talktalktalking and forgot to get a dog cookie for the co-​pilot aka dog! I realized my ‘mistake’ at the register and they gave me some large broken treats! Wow! That was nice! Instead of me going back to go buy a dog cookie, they GAVE me a huge chunk of a broken cookie treat, the same size of the cookie I usually buy! They are also starting a frequent buyers card! Just love their customer service — they have a great team working there.

This place is awesome! All the staff are incredibly knowledgeable & so, so helpful. I love all of their displays, of course my favorite is the salt water fish display but even their hermit crab display is interesting. I like to come in sometimes just to look around. And any time I’ve had a question the staff have always been happy to provide me w/​an educated answer. 10 stars if possible! Highly recommended!

Love this place! Some times i just go to look at all the animals! The price of the merchandise is resonable and the staff is helpful the critters are in my experience always helthy when i take them home! I would definitely recommend this place

They just opened a cat/​dog goody store across the street called fur-​ever thats pretty cute but pricey!

My favorite pet store! The animals always live a long time and are reasonably priced. I love looking around even if I don’t need anything!

Always a good experience with knowledgable employees. Saw the post about a possible racism issue and can’t say I’ve seen it. More than just white people work there– and as a girl with dreadlocs I can assure you they’re always nice to me! I don’t think there’s any legitimate racism going on. I’d get snappy if someone asked me what the hours are if it was on a sign behind them too.

Actually, it’s 4 stars for me, 1 star for my son. Let me explain…
I went in with my husband to fill out a small fish tank. Having last had aquariums when living in the Bay Area and going to the excellent Albany Aquarium, I wasn’t sure what I’d have access to up here. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of equipment, fish, and live plants at Fin-​N-​Feather. The guy that helped us was very knowledgeable about aquariums, got us what we needed, and made some good suggestions. I dropped about $ 125 (yeah, I know!) and went home to set it up, with plans to come back later for fish.
Well, as it turns out, Sunday is my day off but Fin-​N-​Feather is closed on Sunday, so my son (who works in Henderson Center) said he’d go by on his way home and get my fish. This is how the exchange went:
«I’d like to get a betta for my step-​mom.»
«Well, we’re out.»
«When will you get more?»
«Come back Monday.»
«What time are you open Monday?»
«When we’re open.»
Okay…Now, the thing is, my husband and I are white. My son is Hispanic. Was someone at Fin-​N-​Feather just having a bad day, or what? If you live in Humboldt and you have some color, you know what I’m talking about. I’d like to think it was just a bad day, but however it was, it left a bad taste in our mouths. Guess I’ll be going back to Albany for my fish after all.

I’m always in need of a good pet store to stir my imagination and inspire me, this place hits the spot. Lots of variety to the stock, particularly the fish and all the aquarium decorations. I love it.
Also love the friendly staff, when I was in looking at the reptiles the person taking care of them was showing me each in turn, like he was introducing me to his friends. Love the atmosphere :) I’ll be coming back

Nice helpful staff with a great selection of high quality dog and cat foods. I love supporting a local business and they’re always greeting me when I enter the door and offering my doxie a treat. The prices are a little much, hence the 4 star rating but one has to pay for supporting a local place with high quality of staff and stuff!

I went here for the first time looking for a cage for my rats. I don’t like to use «rat» cages they are too small. I like to use birdcages normally. The staff was all very helpful one employee helped me look at multiple cages and then pick out things to adjust the bird cage to be more rat friendly. He said he normally works on the fish side but was definitely helpful. I don’t know how to rate the prices as I haven’t compared but the staff is very helpful and friendly. Someone mentioned birds looking unhealthy all the birds looked healthy to me.

I go to Fin N Feather over other pet stores like Pet Co to help keep local business alive in my area. Also Fin n Feather has great staff who seem to know and care for the animals and there needs. They have a great reptile section, lots of exotic birds and fish galore… freshwater and salt. Fin n Feather has been around for as long as I can remember and I love the mural outside the store, located in Henderson center. I got my 2^nd leopard gecko there not to long ago, and he is healthy and doing great. They have a large selection of geckos almost always which says to me that they have good breeders. I go in every week and a half or so and get my dusted crickets for my gecko and the service is always prompt and with a smile, these folks seem to like there jobs which makes for better customer service.
