My recommendation would be to go to the one on Harrison.

December in Humboldt County is pretty dreary, sometimes you need a little caffeine and sugar rush to make it through the day. Ramone’s is definitely a primo place to get both. The mocha definitely perked me up and the delicious espresso shortbread cookie lifted my rained-soaked spirits. Staff seemed a little flighty, forgot my coffee order until one reminded the other, but overall a cute place to stop in with quality coffee and delectable pastries.

Been to this location several times. The baked goods are done well and I’ve had good coffee here. Last several times the service has been terrible. Most recently I ordered a mocha and the woman poured me a cup of mocha-java. I guess it’s a reasonable mistake but when I corrected her that I wanted my coffee in the style of a mocha latte she looked at me like I was the biggest drag in the world for making her go over to the espresso machine. Also noticed while sitting with my family that several of the patrons appeared to be homeless. One was wrapped up in a blanket eating cereal from a full sized box of cheerios. Another was wearing pajamas and talking to her library book in full conversation.

I’ve been to all of their locations. Old Town Eureka is the cutest location, with the Arcata one being the most convenient since it’s located in Wildberries grocery store(shop and sip). They make the best iced lattes in all of NoHum in my opinion. They even have coffee iced cubes for iced coffee. The staff here is great. Unfortunately, their baked goods aren’t my thing. The pastries always seem dried out to me, no matter what time of day.

The owner here should do some customer service training. The ladies working the closing shift didn’t want to give me a real plate for me to enjoy my cake at 5pm because then they might have to wash that plate at 6. I’ll make sure I hit the earlier shifts from now on or skip it.

Lovely old town charm, warm inviting space with sweet treats, fairly consistent baristas and customer service that could use some refreshing. They don’t have much for lunch, very light fare, but wowza if you want some of the best cookies ever, go for it… my favorite is the double chocolate walnut and plain olé chocolate chip, the tart are groovy too. I’ve been waiting for an occasion to order one of their mini cakes, they are adorably decorated.

Love the Old Town Ramone’s just wish they had all of the stuff of the Harrison street location.

Been here a couple times for business meetings. The coffee and bakery items are quite good. Where this place faulters is in cleanliness. Tables, counters and kitchen are very dirty. The bathroom was FILTHY. Not exaggerating. I know from experience that the floors had not been swept or mopped in at least a month. The toilet and sink were embarrassing. Smelled like urine.

Lukewarm, acidic coffee. I’d figure a café that sells primarily coffee and pastries would have HOT fresh brewed coffee at all times, especially at $ 1.75 a cup for a small one. Next comes the rudeness factor from the staff and more attitude if you don’t throw at least a buck in the tip jar. It’s not my fault that your job is low pay, so if you want extra, work for it.

Staff is always on top of the store, but always burns the milk. Some say the coffee is bad, which it is not. The baristas consistently burn the milk, making the whole drink taste toasted and burnt, which is actually the flavor I associate to most of their locations. When they get it right, it’s great. The low stars are for how consistent this problem is across 3 locations.

Recommended by locals. Enjoyed by all. Lots of choices for breakfast, lunch or snack time with plenty of inside seating.

We have stopped her a few times for treats and/or lunch, and we had them cater a few cakes for a big party for my parents’ anniversary. I’ve never had the coffee, so I can’t speak to those who dislike it(it smells good, which indicates nothing). All the baked goods we’ve had here are really delicious. Scones, bread, cookies, pies, brownies… you know what, I’m going to stop listing because I’m starting to get hungry. Suffice to say, their baked goods are GREAT. I’ve also had soup/lunch here once, and it was very, very good. Cute little place to sit, etc. The cakes we got from them for the party were as promised and on time. They were beautiful and delicious! Everyone was impressed.

Not sure how the coffee is but the whole peach pie we got to go was amazing. I’m usually an ‘eat a few bites of pie and call it good’ type of person but I ate two whole pieces of the peach pie and dangit, I want to go back tomorrow for more. Service was ok — friendly girl behind the counter. If I lived in town, I’d definitely be hanging out here rather than a local starbucks.

Ramone’s is by far my most favorite bakery — All locations. I’m rather partial to the e Street location though, as I like the brick interior and walking to the bay. Over the years that I lived here, I tried just about everything they made. I definitely have my favorites, and not favorites; though nothing was bad. Ever.(Favorites include: grasshoppers, petit fours, raspberry chocolate torte, napoleons, apple pandowdy, and rum balls) Large assortment and variety of goodies, good coffee(fair trade, organic, etc.) and tea, even lunch items like sandwiches. Great place to stop to grab a quick bite, for a variety of tastes. Anytime I’m going to be in, or passing through, northern California, I will take an extra day just to drive over(from the 5 — no short drive) and enjoy a day in redwood park with some coffee and a pastry. Then I take a large assortment of deliciousness with me. When I’m up for a visit, I go to ramone’s every morning that I’m there. In other places I live/lived, the bakeries just aren’t of the same quality & tastiness. I go to the bakeries in my current location maybe once or twice a year.

the espresso here is bad. Unsalvageable actually. The coffee is very bad. This is not a coffee shop, it’s a bakery. The cake is good. Very good. The sandwiches are often not good, although the soups are usually redeeming. This is more of a bakery than a lunch spot. Which is why you’d think, being a bakery and all, that they’d have divine croissants. They do not. The croissants are not so good. Try the orange currant scone instead. or the honey oat puck thing, that’s good too. Also the seasonal pumpkin mousse is yummy. And just be happy there is a nice place to sit to enjoy a scone with a crappy cup of coffee(or, in my case, a flat Americano/espressos which have never shown up once with crema on them since that cute butch boy with the tattoos all over this forearms stopped working there a year ago). You don’t go to Ramona’s in old town because there is good coffee. You go there because there’s nowhere with better coffee to meet up with people or read your book & you don’t want to support Starbucks. But wait, if it’s after 4. Go to siren song a half block away. They make better espresso!

Atmosphere is really good and décor is great. There is plenty of seating and the sandwiches are great. This a solid place to go for a snack or larger meal. Great place to relax, visit with friends, or read a book on your own. We often bring out of town guests here for morning coffee. Both locations have their benefits — old town is great because there are many things to do within walking distance and it has the old brick charm. The location by the hospital is also convenient as often errands will lead you to this part of town.

I frequented Eureka doing school-related work, and stopped by here several times. Their coffees are OK; their hot chocolate was OK, too. Their pastries on the other hand, are good. I’ve had their oatmeal cookie, and also have had their sesame seed cookie. Décor is nice, & place is clean.

Good coffee not so good service. Yes — we were tourists, kind of, but we are from the valley and come to Eureka every few months. We went in one afternoon for coffee and 2 days later in the morning for a cake. In town for the weekend for my birthday, i decided i wanted a cake and the petite 4 inch cake was great for two — I wish more bakeries thought about that. The coffee was OK — had better and had worse, the cake was a pink champagne cake and was really tasty.

Ramone’s is a great place to drink coffee, read, and gorge on their decadent pastries and desserts. Whenever I need a sugar kick and I need to get away from… well the busyness that is my life. I like to unwind here… or at least I used to.

I visited Eureka for a few days and needed my morning coffee fix. Espresso beverages are mediocre. There is very little crema, milk isn’t steamed properly so it’s very thin and doesn’t develop the slightly sweet flavor and then served way too hot. Out of the three places in Eureka I tried, Latte Love is only one I liked.
