coLab Evanston

I run a small web development business and CoLab Evanston has become the perfect place for me to get productive and more importantly, get inspired! There are several other small companies and start ups that also make their offices there, as well as «floaters» who need desk space, internet and a professional — but not stuffy — environment to get stuff done. The people are friendly and courteous and there are plenty of amenities on site to allow me to operate like a real office. CoLab also constantly undergoes changes to truly meet the needs of its members. I’m loving the new paint job that’s not yet reflected on the Unilocal profile.
CoLab has such a great vibe going on. It’s a very dynamic, community-​focused and well-​run facility that makes the work day much more enjoyable than your typical office. Additionally, the secured, members-​only access gives me great peace of mind when leaving my computer or other valuables there. It’s just an awesome place to work!

I’ve been a member for the past 2 years and I only have great things to say about the space, its members, and the owner Miguel.
Space — There are high chairs, office chairs, lounge chairs, and plenty of areas to get comfortable. If you want a private area to work there are places to use but there are also collaborative areas to work as well. It can have the atmosphere of a coffee shop or a quiet office. I love the big windows out front that give way to all of the activity on Chicago Ave.
Members — The other members are friendly and helpful. If you miss the camaraderie of traditional office coworkers but want to continue working solo this is the place to be. The members have varying areas of expertise and are willing to lend a hand whenever possible.
Owner — I consider the owner Miguel to be a great friend. He has given me advice and helped me with my business on numerous occasions all while not asking for anything in return. He’s also always willing to customize a solution for any member to ensure their happiness.
I could go on and on but it would probably be better if you just experienced it yourself. Try it out for a day with no commitment.

coLab Evanston has been a life saver for me! It’s a great collaborative work space.
I’ve spent many hours in the last month camped out here at the coLab, breathing in mad amounts of Sharpie markers and drawing cat after cat after cat after cat. Somehow, this magical space has kept me sane.
Its denizens are welcoming. Its owners are supportive. And the lunch is occasionally free. What more could one ask for?
I hope to call coLab Evanston my office away from office for years to come.

coLab is a great place to work if you want a quiet place with convivial company, a coffee pot on demand and all the perks of a high tech office. If you are a small business person or an independent, you’ll find like-​minded people. I work mostly in website design and I’ve even gotten some nice tips when I’ve gotten stuck on a vexing problem.
