My nonprofit organization recently bought a van and then had a second donated. The guys at Dempster Auto Rebuilders have been truly fantastic! They answer questions, help us with affordable options, and always do a phenomenal job! We love them! :)

I was in a four car accident on the Edens that was NOT my fault. The entire driver’s side of my 2006 Cadillac DTS was smashed. I was overwhelmed with the time involved in getting repairs completed as I am a busy professional and cover a large territory for an area bank.
Dempster Auto Rebuilders took care of everything including coordinating a rental car and working with the insurance company to make sure I was able to focus on my job. I just got my car back today and it looks AMAZING — fully restored and detailed! This is the ONLY body shop I am using from now on.

These guys are timely, thorough, and reasonably priced. Bill and Dick in the main office are honest as the day is long. Use these guys; they’re great!

I recently went to Dempster Auto Builders to replace my cracked bumper. Not only were they hundreds of dollars less expensive than my other estimates, they were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. They let me drop off my car a week late because I needed it for work, and they finished the work in about 24 hours. I am incredibly impressed and I know that my family and I will continue using Dempster Auto Rebuilders.

They worked extra hard to save me a thousand dollars in parts. I would definitely use them again.

Needed a pretty quick/​simple repair done, and chose here due to proximity to home and work as well as Unilocal reviews. Was quoted $ 137, but charged $ 199 because «we had to order the part from somewhere else.» I was not informed of this until the work was done, and was told I was wrong about the initial estimate until I provided the printed estimate — then given the shady explanation above.
The work was done quickly but the up charge of 50% from the initial quote left a bad taste in my mouth.

My car was purchased last September and it got ended after two weeks :(The guy ended my car from the FRONT! Yes, an idiot sliding back on an uphill while waiting for traffic light. You how how frustrated I was… a two weeks new car. I came to here based on the Unilocal review plus DAR is also a State Farm contracted shop. I was new to this country and this area, really had o idea how this goes. Dick walked me through whole process. Turns out he is trust worthy! After two days, he gave me a car just like new! I wait for more than half a year to write this review. The work is sturdy and no having any problem so far. Plus I met my neighbor when I went to pick up my car. So I know that this is a shop trusted by locals.
Highly recommended, don’t have to worry about been ripped off when repairing car. I even asked him to recommend a local auto maintenance store since I was new to Evanston. Very happy I chose Dempster Auto Rebuilder for repair.

Great service, very professional and one really gets the sense that Dick and his team care about the customer. It was one of the first experiences that I have had with an auto repair shop where i didn’t feel like I was being ripped off and the repair job that they did was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Wow! What a refreshing concept… To have a small business do great work at a fair price. The owner Dick Peach is friendly and solid and truly cares about his customers. I had several small dings and scrapes that needed attention. Dick P. gave me a really great deal and was willing to squeeze me into the schedule since it wasn’t a huge job. Since I work locally, he even dropped me off at work. The car was ready by the end of the day!
Glad to see that ‘small town’ customer service isn’t dead.

Phil is great. I had an accident involving a skunk and a cement curb (long story) that took my car door off the hinges. No fun as I was just about to leave town for a 4 hours road trip. Upon return, they lifted the door for $ 10. Ultimately this resulted in damage to the wheel casing so I have to have more work done. But these guys have been nothing short of fantastic in their support. I highly encourage anyone to start here. You won’t find better service and an honest assessment. While I’m disappointed lifting the door alone didn’t remedy the problem, they gained my trust and I feel like I have a trusted partner to help me survive the trials and tribulations that is driving in the Windy City.

No Fuzz about this place, my car was hit by someone who demonstrated honest after hitting my car left me a message on window and paid for damages. This person recommended this place by her friend. The incident happened on Friday before the long weekend before Labor day; we’ve decided to meet after Labor Day at this place. I got there first and since walked in I felt so unpleasant and unwelcome, I spoke with the so everyone called a great guy, well this guy was not a so nice person. Felt this person did not care about my presence, I asked to start the process of estimate and trust me he was not like everyone else is saying, that he did this he did that, I DO not think so; I asked for estimate on other little scratches and was cold answer as $ 450 to fix scratches on every panel.
I’ve asked for areas were the bumper needed to be fixed along scratches done based on damages. The person who hit my car paid $ 1,288 including taxes. Mr. Dick did not call me on following Monday I had to call, he did not care because he was paid, said to bring car on Wednesday; I dropped the car and asked what was next, he said he will call me on Friday. Today is Friday and was 3 p.m. and NO call, I called and he said car was being washed and will be ready at 4 p.m.
I arrived and the color seemed more darker than original, I was sure Dick included the damages I’ve pointed in the beginning; but my surprised was that NO fix; he only fixed the bumper and confronted the matter and he said it was not included on estimate, which I requested to include the damage, and because the total paid was pretty substantial I assumed was included. quite frankly NOT satisfied with service, and lack of information from shop.
I would NOT recommend this place, there are better and honest. Like everyone else said that he offered a lot of stuff and was helpful; with me he was not at any time.

Someone sideswiped me and damaged my driver’s side mirror on my 2004 Saturn Ion pretty badly. Dempster Auto Rebuilders looked at it on a Monday, ordered the replacement part which arrived Thursday, and replaced the mirror in about 15 minutes while I waited on Friday. Very friendly service. The whole thing was just under $ 200 but most of that was the part. (The entire power mirror needed to be replaced.) I was worried since Saturn went out of business, but getting and installing the part was no problem for these guys!

Took my Chevy Traverse to Dempster Auto Rebuilders after my car was in the way of a large tree limb falling to the ground. Just had the side view mirror knocked off and a couple of dents in the door.
Dick and his team did a tremendous job with the entire process. First, the estimator was very quick and thorough in writing up the estimate. They clearly explained the next few steps including how to get the Rental Car set up with Enterprise. The shop originally claimed they needed 3 days to repair… but they did a great job and got it out in 2. I was very pleased to have my car back a day early.
And their work was impeccable. They had vaccummed my interior and gave her a nice exterior bath as well.
I will definitely refer my friends to Dick and his team.

What a great experience today at Dempster Auto Rebuilders! I came in with a major scratch… my fault, those damned Chicago parking garages. So I arrived expecting the worst, and the guys at Dempster Auto were able to buff out the scratch, leaving just a few barely visible lines down to the primer. No appointment and the whole thing took about 15 minutes and cost only $ 20. I’ve since moved down to the city, but I will likely come back to Dempster Auto if I ever need help again (let’s hope not…)

Because of how great the service this business provided, I decided to write my first review. I got my car serviced a year ago. The price was reasonable and the work was immaculate. Recently I noticed the paint felt off so I took it back. The thing was the paint didn’t fall off. Dick told me that someone had hit my car without my notice and the entire bumper is scratched. But he fixed it for me anyway and without charging me a penny! This is what reliable and GREAT service is! I thought the least i could do

I was out of town on business and someone seriously swiped my car while I was parked in a parking lot… no note left… just the dents and dings from the encounter.
I was worried that maybe the dents and scratches would turn to rust if left untreated so I took her in for a look-​see. I actually chose Dempster Auto Rebuilders based on the Unilocal reviews… YAY Unilocal!
Anyway, didn’t need an appointmet… drove over and Dick came out to have a look. He rubbed out the scratches, checked the dents and proclaimed her ‘cured’. He said that if it were him he would not invest in doing anything with them (and after he rubbed them, the scratches that seemed so deep and ugly were gone) and the dents practically unnoticeable.
It would have been easy to convince me that I needed to have these repaired (I actually tried to convince HIM of that fact!) but he wouldn’t hear of it…
so of course, if I ever do need REAL auto body work, these guys are my guys.
After looking at the car, Dick spent a few minutes talking with me about his business, his guys (who’ve all been with him a long time), his family and his fishing! A very very friendly and nice guy… and a great start to my weekend after I ended my week fretting about having to cover the cost of the repair bill!!!

I have never been so excited about a car repair. They charged us an incredibly reasonable amount to cover up a scratch and buff around it. Then they buffed the entire car, covered up all the little scratches on our bumper – and didn’t charge us a penny over the estimate!
The staff are incredibly nice here. I will absolutely come back if I ever need auto body work done in the future.

My car has had a rough winter with a tire/​pot hole fiasco (see sep. tire reviews!) and then a hit and run in a Jewel lot 2 weeks ago. I went all around Chicago to Unilocal-​recommended body shops yet I was not very impressed with any of them. Plus, I found out it was going to be hundreds of dollars to fix my front bumper. I strongly prefer to take proper care of my car, but I just did not have $ 400 – 500 cash to spend, especially on the bumper of an «urban vehicle» not knowing when it could happen again.
Enter Dempster Auto Rebuilders! I knew there were a few ways to go about fixing my car, and DAR was the only place that asked me «What do you want to do about it?» versus taking the most tedious and expensive route. I like options!
Bottom line: They straightened the dent and touched up the paint for next to nothing. Seriously; like a night or two at happy hour is all I was out. It looks pretty good. It isn’t like brand new or 100% how I want it, but it was a huge improvement considering it was *nearly free* and I really, really appreciate the honest, fast service.
Highly recommended. I dealt with a very nice man named Dick. Call or visit him if you are in a similar predicament. I was so stressed about this car snafu and 100 other catastrophes going on at the time. Meeting him made my day!

I recently had a small accident where paint was transferred onto the back of my car and they told me to bring the car in at my own convenience and they’d take a look. Dick Peach was the guy who had written back to my online inquiry and when I got there, he took about 10 minutes to buff the paint off my car and didn’t even charge me!
They are incredibly nice and efficient and I would recommend them to anyone that wants to trust an autobody shop with their car!
