Specialties
Michael J. Wise Photography is here to not «simply» serve your imaging needs, but to provide a vehicle for eloquently expressing who you are, what you’re about, and what is most important about the world you live in.
Custom Portraiture. What exactly does that mean. Isn’t every portrait custom?
Custom Portraiture can mean many things. At Michael J. Wise Photography it means the highest level blending of the two most elegant facets of photography: documenting what exists at a point in time, and constructing it into fantastic imagery that reveals not just the «what», but the «who» and «why» of the subject.
At Michael J. Wise Photography, we strive to infuse a strongly artistic spirit into the portraits we produce. Art is back, is alive, and is well on your walls, in your offices, and around your world with portraits from Michael J. Wise Photography.
We’re open when you and your family are available to shoot!
History
Established in 1996.
Michael began his professional career working as a stringer for The Onion in Madison. Following his stint with the newspaper, Michael attended Milwaukee Area Technical College where he took numerous classes to improve upon the technical aspects of his work.
Starting in 1998, Michael was fortunate enough to photograph numerous artists in concert including Motley Crue, The Scorpions, Live and Anthrax while they were on tour in the area.
After about three years of working with the hectic schedules associated with shooting bands on the move, Michael started to shift his focus toward portraits. He opened a full service portrait business in Seattle in 2006 and began working with families in the Pacific Northwest. That year also saw his work with competition dance schools begin which has become a cornerstone of his current work he currently does.
Michael is currently located in Evanston, IL and serves the greater Chicago area with portrait services.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael J. W.
Business Owner
Around the age of seven Michael received his first real taste of photography by accompanying his father to a camera shop owned by Life photographer Frank Scherschel in Baraboo, Wisconsin (the city of his birth) where his father went to buy a 35 mm camera. That experience served as an introduction to, and ultimately the stepping-stone for, a life-long obsession with photography.
