Quartet Copies

I was here 2 weeks ago with my sister as she was getting programs for her recital. The order was incorrect (likely not due to any fault of Quartet Copies) and Jeff worked with us for over 3 hours to fix the problem with the programs. We were confused customers and he was patient with us and got the job done. I’m not from around this area, but would use them again if I were! 3 cheers for Jeff!

I’ve been going to this place for over 12 years. It’s a thousand times better than any fedex location, plus it doesn’t cost as much. I’ve had occasional customer service issues over the years with print jobs not completed on time, but they’ve been very responsive when I’ve had complaints or problems.

Timm– My knight in Shining Armor!!! He helped me resize my photos to print for my photography opening! Because of Him, I looked prepared and actually seemed like I knew what I was doing!!!

Their printing service cheap but it takes them a few days to have course packets ready. Kinko’s has always given me a one day turnaround time and it’s honestly not that much costlier.
Also they have a website that they NEVER EVER update! For some reason UPS sent my package to them. On their website their closing time is 9pm Mondays-​Fridays. So I walked half a mile there only to find lo and behold THEY CHANGED THEIR HOURS!!! They now magically close at 6pm instead of 9pm. It is such a hassle for people to go out of their way to the store only to find it closed without warning. YOU HAVE A WEBSITE SO PLEASE USE IT!!! It’s honestly not that hard to update your hours online and it’ll save people a lot of time.

Total incompetence and lack of responsibility. Was told I would have four 11×14 prints done within the hour. By the second day they still were not completed and their priority was not even on the radar of Quartet. Won’t be returning.

I had some great service here. Had a special project I was working on making some dvd case covers and disk labels, they printed beautiful professional looking copies and very cheaply too.
They even helped me format my files so they would print perfectly onto the circular dvd labels. They did the work themselves, said it might cost like 20 dollars, but only ended up costing 7 so bonus for that!
These guys are really good and what they do and was very happy about the outcome.
I did notice a lot of reviews talking about the really long lines of northwestern kids getting course packets but it seems they have taken care of that by having a separate line for course packets so I didn’t have to wait through all that.
Lastly, they also bound a big script for me and the Binding was really well done and cheap as well.

I spent a great deal of time copying documents my divorce lawyer needed. Quartet copy became my second home. The copying is very affordable, downright cheap. Faxing documents out and receiving documents sent to Quartet was a bit expensive, although that depended on who was the sales person was. The older lady tend to charge the highest rates, sometimes 3 times as much as other sales staff. I think she was overcharging but I didn’t want to argue. I just changed my schedule so I would go in when she wasn’t there. Every other sales persons charged about the same amount for faxes and they were the younger people. Avoid the lady during morning and early afternoon hours. After 5pm until closing was the fastest service.
I recommend Quartet Copies. Very helpful and nice staff.

Shame on me for not asking how much it would cost to scan 4 sheets of paper to my gmail account. I thought at the most $ 2 bucks. Holy hell– it was $ 5 for 30 seconds worth of time for the employee to scan my documents. Talk about HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I am never walking in there again.

4.5 cents per copy is decent for over 200 pages black and white and 4 cents for over 500. Decent service. Nice location in evanston. They are open on Sundays to boot.

Phenomenal. I send what I need printed every Friday and when I pick it up Saturday, everything is absolutely perfect. It’s also very cheap.
Price– Super cheap. Much cheaper than Fedex.
Quality– Great work that they do. They will really do a good job of helping you print whatever you need such as flyers or presentations.
Quantity– Lots of paper
Atmosphere– Very modern/​industrial
Staff– Amazing. They do a fantastic job of helping you get what you needed and really do go out of their way to ensure fantastic customer service.
Great place and it is fantastic. Make sure you are specific with what you want and they’ll get it done.

I have been using Quartet Copies for a few years now to print my self published zines and comics. Anyone that has ever taken care of my orders (especially Ray) has been extremely attentive to all my requirements for every project’s final outcome. I even think they’re prices (at least, for my purposes) have been the most reasonable from all the printers I’ve used in Chicago. They do have a bit of a wait sometimes for larger orders (a day at most) but that’s understandable since they are a small shop. If you are doing a large printing job, just don’t wait until the last minute and expect to have them print in 30 minutes.
Another piece of advice: I’ve read on here some complaints about tech issues that result to staff seeming «uncooperative». My advice for people who come in with even slightly larger or complicated print orders: make everything within you’re content is how you want it (right resolution, size, format, registration, etc…) and then have all your files organized and labeled on a USB. 9 times out of 10 (if not, 10 out of 10) that will make it less likely that you’ll be unhappy with you’re final print order or have to wait longer to do it right a second time– and that is with any printer, not just them.
Bottom line, Quartet has my loyalty for life.

Extremely rude people who are not helpful. Tried to print a poster — guys makes me drive out there 20 mins and then says they cannot print it out for 2 days! Then he says he won’t plug in my USB MyBook because it was too hard for him — all it needed was a power outlet such as the one behind him! So he says for me to go home transfer it to a USB because it will make his life easier !
This was the worst service hands down of any place! Went to kinkos right away — poster printed with a smile in 30 mins!

Update: Chris, one of Quartet’s owners, reached out to me in a Unilocal message regarding my review. He apologized for my experience and explained he wasn’t sure how the associate calculated the cost when I came in to scan my documents. He said it definitely shouldn’t have been $ 14.00 and reassured me that down the road he would make sure the employees know how to properly charge for having something scanned. He also refunded me a full $ 14.00. I really appreciate him reaching out and refunding my money. It speaks very highly of their customer service and I will definitely give Quartet Copies another try down the road.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of Quartet for over a year now, and keep forgetting. Getting a delivery today, immediately after the holiday, reminded me of how fantastic I think this business is.
Our office uses Quartet for all of our big projects, fliers, handouts, etc, and I’ve never had anything but a good experience. They have quick turnaround, send us plenty of proofs, the work is always good, and delivery is timely. In the 2+ years I’ve been using them for both professional and personal projects, I’ve never had any problems. I would recommend them to anyone. And, they offer a nice Wildcard discount.

Until today, my only experience with Quartet Copies was purchasing course material packets for classes at the beginning of each quarter. It wasn’t something I looked forward to doing, but long lines always moved fast here.
Fast forward to today when my scanner decides to stop working and I had some paperwork due. A quick Google search told me that 1) the Evanston Public Library has a free fax machine, and 2) Quartet also had a fax machine. Well, the library one was maybe 3 decades old, and was not working properly. I hustle over to Quarter, and am helped by Stephen (Steven?) the superstar!
At first, he tried to fax my stack of papers. When that wasn’t working, he photocopied them onto their paper to see if that would make the fax go through. Nope. Then, he asks if I would like to get the documents scanned and sent via email, which is all I wanted to do in the first place (stupid home scanner). This solution would be super fast and super cheap ($ 5 total, as opposed to the $ 3 first sheet and 75c each additional sheet for the long-​distance fax). He asked me to log-​in to my email while everything was being scanned, attached the pdf file once complete, and voila… paperwork complete and sent in time. Swipe the CC, pay $ 5, and I was on my way.
Next time I have any printing/​scanning/​faxing/​etc needs, I’ll visit Quartet in a flash. They’re super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and make life a lot easier!

As a Northwestern student coming here only to buy course packets, this store has been my only experience at print shops. I really hate having to come here at the start of each quarter. The lines are super long regardless of the time of day, and the staff is actually quite rude. The first time I came here, I was asked for the course number and the name of the professor, neither of which I knew because it was a class I picked last minute. All I knew was the title of my class which I thought would be enough for them to find the appropriate course packet. You would think all the information about courses, and professors would be computerized. Apparently not, the girl rolled her eyes at me, and didn’t offer to let me use the computer to look it up until I asked. In addition, I think the prices are ridiculous for a packet of copied paper. It’s kind of stupid when a course packet costs more than the books for the class. I had to pay $ 30 for a packet that was thinner than the assigned book for the class (it was an actual book, not a textbook). I felt so bad for the kids taking Orgo because they had to drop about $ 100 for their course packets.
As I stated earlier, I really hate coming here.

Terrible service and incompetent workers. If they didn’t have a locked customer base because of Northwestern University they would go out of business quickly. Avoid at all costs.

Like every Northwestern student, I went here at the start of each quarter to pick up «course packs» (or were they course *packets*?). You’re met with ridiculously (but inevitably) long lines when this happens — I always felt bad for customers from the real world who probably had no idea why they suddenly had to wait 20 minutes to get to the front!
There’s really no way to be strategic about getting your course packs. I’ve tried going at all different times of the day, and there were always lines. Try half an hour until closing time for your best chance at a less painful wait time, though.
The people at Quartet are super fast, but my only complaint is the cost of some of these course packs. You should not have to pay over $ 50 for a bundle of copied pages, but sometimes, unfortunately, you don’t have a choice.

My husband came in at 2 minutes to closing time and had a (somewhat) difficult printing order. Adam stayed open to do the job and he actually did it with a smile! We were such jerks even asking him to help knowing they were closing and it was friday night of Memorial Day weekend. We highly recommend Quartet for quality work even under unfavorable circumstances. THANKS ADAM you saved our butts!

Sometimes I ponder about how many pulverized trees there must be in Quartet’s clean and sleek little space alone, tended diligently by their friendly and generally competent staff. But this is partially due to bitterness that on several occasions now, I have had to blow 60 bucks on a 3lb course packet filled with unnecessary readings.
No offense, Quartet, but professors please take note: Whatever files you can get to your students electronically, do it!
