Saville Flowers

I placed an order on their website for flowers to be delivered to my grandma on her birthday. I later found out that not only were the flowers not delivered on the date I specified on the delivery form, but I was never notified that they weren’t delivered on the correct date. I called the shop to try and get an understanding of why the flowers were delivered late, and to perhaps get a refund on at least the delivery charge, but the owner was very rude, avoidant, and unapologetic. She claimed my grandma was still very happy with the flowers, even though they were late, so I shouldn’t care. She said that even though they were delivered late, at least they were delivered, and I should still be happy because my grandma was given a «bonus» candle. When I asked if I could get a refund, she said I needed to discuss that with my bank, and tried to avoid the issue. Obviously, the refund is not something that would be handled by my bank, and when I pressed further, she finally agreed to a refund, even though she «had not had to do something ridiculous as this in over 5 years.» Once she agreed to a partial refund, she refused to give me an actual amount to be refunded. I asked if she could specify a number, percentage, or anything as far as how much money I would get back, and she kept responding with «I don’t know.» We finally agreed upon a $ 20 refund, however, I still haven’t received any refund. I don’t believe that I will be getting one and I have never been so appalled by customer service in my life. A simple apology and delivery charge refund would have been all it would have taken, however, due to this complete lack of customer service, I refuse to ever shop at this flower shop again.

I truly believe in the saying that we are very quick to complain, but slow to compliment… I am also embarrassed that I am just now writing this review. I have worked in the downtown Evanston area for five years but only began venturing out for lunch last year. As I was walking along Sherman I noticed Saville Flowers and was drawn in by the wonderful displays outside and in the windows. When you walk in the atmosphere fits right into the neighborhood and is quite lovely. The owner and employees are super nice (and I agree that you may have to wait a minute before anyone notices you because they are usually in the back working and consulting with one another — if I’m not in a hurry, it’s nice to watch the professionals at work). I have spoken with the owner a few times on the phone, lovely woman, and the guys who work with her are very good at what they do as well. I ordered centerpieces for a holiday party in December 2015 and was really impressed with his work (so sorry I didn’t get his name). I tried to do it myself but I just couldn’t get it together and I loathe plastic flowers. I remembered them from a purchase earlier in the year and took my decorations to him a few days before the party. He selected just the right flower to accompany the decorations as I didn’t want to use poinsettia. When he showed me the flower he was thinking of using I was skeptical it would not be bright enough to stand out in a sea of silver and white. Boy was I wrong… they were really pretty; simple, yet elegant and very tasteful — added the nice pop of red I was looking for. Many compliments… I will definitely return as I need to buy my ball topiary and I’m a little late this year! I would highly recommend Saville Flowers and look forward to collaborating again this year.

I REALLY wanted to love this shop as I’ve worked in Evanston for 8 years and love supporting local businesses. I had never used them before, but wanted a special arrangement for my boyfriend and decided that flowers from a grocery store just wouldn’t do. I guess I should have saved my money.
I went in a day ahead of when I wanted my fresh-​cut flower arrangement so that I could just stop by after work the next day and pick them up. The woman who waited on me (the owner?) was VERY nice (once they realized they had a customer in the store, which took a few minutes). I told her what I wanted, how much I wanted to spend and when I would pick them up the next day. She was even kind enough to offer to take a few of the flowers out of the cooler so that they would open up for the next day. Nice touch, I thought.
When I went to pick them up, they charged me just what I wanted in my price range and there were a good amount of flowers in the arrangement. I initially was pleased, although when I turned the bouquet around in my hands (while still in the store), I noticed that a couple of the flowers already looked like they were on their last legs. I didn’t say anything, thinking I could just pull those out when I got home.
I decided to leave them in, thinking (stupidly) that they might come around in some water (which I put them in as soon as I got home). They didn’t and many others are curling up and dying. I added pictures to their listing on here and hope they get published (they were taken on day 4).
While I don’t expect flowers to last forever, what I do expect from a florist are flowers that at least look good initially when you present them to the recipient. I was actually kind of embarrassed (but of course my boyfriend looked beyond that to the sentimental aspect of why I gave them to him in the first place). The fact that they are dying quickly only confirms that I will not be back to Saville Flowers. Not sure if it was because I was a new customer, the flowers were old or their supplier isn’t very good, but I will have to look elsewhere in the future.

I ordered some flowers to be delivered the same day to the Evanston Northshore Hospital. I was charged $ 97.70 and told that it would be their largest selection of flowers and delivered within 2 hours. Well the flowers never got there, I never got a call, no update, nothing! I was of course upset and I was going to put a stop payment on my card but «flowers» did arrive the next day. They looked like the flowers you get for 12.99 at Jewel-​Osco. I was extremely disappointed with the way i was treated. I wouldn’t expect this from any florist. I think its very poor customer service of these guys to still charge me the full amount even though they took an extra day to get there. When they finally did they were depressing. Oh well, i guess you live and you learn. DONT ORDER FROM HERE!!!

The service and quality I received at Saville absolutely blew me away. The woman who helped me was extremely knowledge and outgoing, allowing me to watch all parts of the preparation of the flowers while offering me delicious free chocolates. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else

Sensitive to your needs. Handles emergency. I needed flowers for a Japanese funeral. Flowers looked like they were made in Japan. Used 20 times. Never disappointed.

We wanted to get some mini bouquets of flowers to present to our parents at our wedding and ended up ordering them at Saville. The ladies were super nice, so I ordered two $ 20 bouquets and a $ 10 boutonnière. The $ 20 bouquets consisted of 3 roses each and a little bit of greenery. They looked really nice, but were a little bit pricey! The boutonnière was very expensive because it was literally just a rose. I had asked for some greenery behind it and maybe some baby’s breath but it was just a pink rose. I mean, it looked nice, but $ 10 for a rose with the stem cut off is a little expensive…
Overall, happy with the flowers, but minus one star for the price!

I live out of town and called SavilIe to deliver flowers and balloons to a friend in an Evanston hospital. I was so impressed when Patrick promised to hand deliver the bouquet himself that I joined Unilocal and wrote a glowing review. I have to retract it because not only were the flowers never delivered, Saville charged my VISA account. I recommend not using this place!

This place is great! I had a bit of a flower emergency and needed a bouquet made on short notice. Becky, possibly one of the nicest people I have spoken to, assured me that I would be able to pick the bouquet up in a half hour. Even with short notice, the bouquet looked as if it took all day to make. Highly recommend this flower shop!

All I can say is it must be nice to be so successful that you are able to let customers walk away frustrated. I went into the store today to find out some info for my daughter’s wedding in June. I was well aware that a formal consultation would have to be scheduled but I thought maybe they could show me some pics with ideas I could pass along to my daughter. The young man there was very kind and tried to be helpful when the (?) owner/​manager waved me off dismissively telling me to come back after the holidays – too busy now. Perhaps that’s true but there’s a better way to talk to a potential client.

I have used Saville Flowers in Evanston the past two years to send flowers. I ordered the flowers over the phone from Atlanta for delivery in Evanston. My mother-​in-​law, the recipient, raved about the flowers and said they were some of the prettiest she had ever seen. Additionally, the florist was extremely nice and professional, and Saville Flowers was kind enough to re-​attempt delivery repeatedly when my mother-​in-​law was out of town. I will definitely be using the services of Saville Flowers in the future!

This must be the least friendliest flower shop in Illinois at least. They don’t seem to care for walk in buyers, nobody says hi, and they talk down to you a little when you ask about flowers. They also have abad habit of closing well before their posted hours.

I wanted a florist that could handle a special request, and found Saville Flowers. We live in California, and my daughter lives in Evanston. My daughter was in an accident, and I wanted to include a box of chocolates with flowers. They offered to stop at a store to pick up her favorite chocolates on their way to her house. And all this with same day delivery!
Saville Flowers exceeded my expectations. It is a joy to have a florist who truly cares about their customer service.

With as much as has changed in Evanston over the last 5 – 10 years, it’s nice to see that some of the great institutions continue to live on: Gigio’s pizza, Tom Thumb, Bennison’s… and Saville Flowers.
Called yesterday to order a bouquet for my princess’s birthday, and spoke to the absolutely nicest woman who really did a great job putting together a beautiful bouquet at the price point I wanted, and had it delivered in about an hour.
Fabulous service and great work at a family-​owned business is what will keep Saville as the institution that it’s been for decades.

Received a massive bouquet from here as a gift 6 days ago. It’s long gone. It started out looking a tiny bit droopy within hours of bringing it home. My husband was reassured by the young man working that it was a great bouquet. I know how to care for flowers and can get them to last for weeks with proper stem cutting, etc. This bouquet had no super delicates or exotics – it should have lasted a week MINIMUM. Instead, petals were falling and roses were dying the next day and half of the pieces were dead within 3 days, the whole thing completely gone in 5 days. I have never had this happen with ANY flowers, not even from Jewel or a roadside vendor. I feel sad about the money spent and the beautiful flowers that shriveled so fast. I feel they stuck my friend with an old or unhealthy bouquet. Maybe careless during a Mother’s Day rush. Very disappointing.
In short, if you want to impress someone do not go here. Spend a little more for an arrangement from Ixia, or if you want a colorful, lasting bouquet, that’s inexpensive, try Whole Foods.

Whenever I needed to get flowers in college I always came here. Because it had a great location in front of my face everytime I walked home from class, but also because the lady there was so nice when I was looking for some flowers to send to a friend in a play. I told her my budget (prob $ 20) and she made up a pretty and simple bouquet for me. Left happy. My dad also used to call them when he would order flowers for me for my birthday, to be delivered to my apartment.

I stopped by to get a single carnation for a sorority event, and the ladies there were super sweet. They didn’t have exactly what I wanted, but they made up for it by knowing exactly what ribbon to use and chatting with me – learning about me and why I needed the flower. They somehow knew that the only other person in the shop was on the football team and were just generally adorable. I’d definitely go back.

Tried to buy $ 800 worth of flowers there to surprise my fiancée on our engagement night. It was a surprise and I asked them to stay open to 6:30 to allow me to sneak them in after she had left the apartment. They said that was past closing time and they couldn’t help. This surprised me, but what shocked me was their closing at 7:00PM, and being pissed off about having to «work so late,» on Valentines Day! Northwestern students were still arriving in droves and leaving empty handed. They clearly had flowers left. This place’s inability to grasp the concept of capitalism upsets me, and I’m a liberal!

We were looking for some plants for our condo and wanted something specific. We checked out Saville one day walking around in Evanston, asking a lot of questions about a couple of plants we saw at the store in really great decorative pots.
After thinking about it, measuring and deciding to get them, we came back and bought a rectangular Oriental planter with two Spathiphyllum Floor Plants for our living room sunroom and the larger colorful Croton plant that matches our family room décor superbly!
I know we spent over the budget amount, $ 200 for 3 very healthy plants and two great planters, but it was SO worth it! Staff are super helpful and not pushy. Helped my s-​o with care for the plants so they’d last a very long time.

Definitely make an appointment here — they’re busy busy busy! But staff was very friendly and helpful. I came here for a wedding appointment to go over different options. Donna was very helpful and showed me some beautiful arrangements and bouquets.
Unfortunately, they were over my budget but in comparison to a lot of the flower shops, they were right on target, and they even offered to deliver down to the city unlike another Evanston flower shop who told me that I’d have to pick them up the morning of the wedding.
They definitely have a better selection here of certain particular flowers than other florists that I’ve checked out in Evanston — definitely recommend them for flowers in Evanston.
